[SDP] President Bland

21 Day 964, 17:30 United Kingdom

A New Muse

It certainly has been an interesting couple of weeks in the New World, many changes have befallen us, and we are faced with new challenges. V2 brings many new opportunities, but also many hurdles which we must jump. However, this is not the message I am bringing today. No. Today I am telling you all that I shall be running for the position of Party President of the Social Democratic Party. And I shall outline my reasoning to you here.

Drive and Experience

You will have undoubtedly seen my peers and fellow candidates throwing around this that and the other about how much experience they have, or what they have done in the past. And this is true. Many of them have done a lot of great things previously. They have achieved much over these past few months and deserve to be recognised for it. But I take a slightly different approach to this.

While past experience is certainly valuable, it is just that, in the past. This obsession with what has been done before will not help us with what we need to do now. Experience is important, but drive and vision vastly outweigh it. And, while I do not doubt my fellow candidates and their ambition, I do feel that they are perhaps slightly misguided. As you have probably seen, there has been much argument and turmoil within our party, involving many of the people running alongside me. This deep involvement has perhaps mired their vision, and derailed their goals slightly.

I have no such matters clouding me, and as such I feel that I can see matters much more clearly, while also being able to discuss certain matters with an open mind. This is important as a Party President who does not weigh up all sides cannot truly represent the party at all.

Some people just bicker too much

So What Makes You so Different?

A good question and one which I will gladly take the time to answer. Firstly, it has been noted by a fair few that I can approach issues with a much more neutral and unbiased view than most others. People usually become far too involved with matters and work themselves up, which causes them to become stubborn and unwilling to shift. This problem has been especially outlined recently by many matters which have spilled into the public. The constant back-and-forth between a select few caused the productivity and innovation of our party to grind to a near halt.

We were lacking a decisive and strong figure to come in and put an end to such bickering with a clear decision. I believe that I can be that figure, and solve any issues swiftly, but also fairly. People will not be singled out. There will be no witch hunts, no public humiliations and no exclusion from the process of democracy. Everyone will have their say, and then I shall do what I believe to be right.

Another issue seems to be party orientation. This is a concern for many of the active members, as some feel that they are not properly represented. Such concerns are fair and understandable. Representation within a democratic party is essential. It is the utmost of concerns in my mind. Fortunately, I take a similar approach to politics and policy-making as I do to debates. While I have no intention of shifting the party either way, I do believe that a Party President who is Central-minded would be more willing to listen to any and all ideas.

Lastly, to prove my decisiveness and direct action, I will actually present the policies which I intend to lay out to the party. This is a clear indication of my willingness to take this party forward quickly and smoothly. No other candidate has laid out a set of specific and conclusive policies. They will follow in another article soon and I am sure many of you will find them most agreeable.

Blandman isn’t going to take any crap

The Gang

Any good Party President needs his crew of dedicated workmen (and women) to help keep things running well. This is otherwise known as the Party Cabinet. As with the other candidates, I have devised my own set of positions. However, unlike most others, I have already decided who I feel to be best fitted to the selected places, which I will outline and describe now.

Vice Party President – LonKirk

This is an important and essential position in any party, as it gives the PP someone to bounce ideas off of, and a representative for when they are not present. This means that the VPP must be very punctual and willing to engage in a number of discussions. I also feel that you need someone with a strong personality, and who also has opposing views to the PP, so that a wider range of views can be considered. LonKirk fits perfectly into this role, as he is active, involved and willing to speak up. I am sure he will do a great job this coming month.

Public Relations – Maddog

Public relations is a difficult, and sometimes volatile, job. As such, it needs a person who has an enduring character, someone who has the tough outer shell to resist some of the flak this may involve. They also need to be excellent speakers, and clear in their messages. This will involve the writing and publishing of party newspapers, as well as dealing with advertisement. I feel that Maddog is perfect for this job as, not only is he well-known, but he also has that certain determination and word-play to perform the tasks necessary in public relations.

Inter-Party Relations – Rory Winterbourne

The main concern for this person is communicating with those people who are already in the party, and finding out what worries or needs they might have. It requires someone who is friendly and approachable, and who will listen to concerns people may have. This job entails messaging the party members who are not active on the forums and encouraging them to participate more, as well as dealing with any problems they have. I chose Rory as he has already proven to have excellent communication with the wider membership, and has shown to be considerate to others.

Recruitment Manager – Ben Clew

A position which requires massive amounts of dedication and sheer persistence, it is an integral part to any party which wishes to advance. It needs someone with a gentle touch, and a clear mandate. The person in charge of recruitment needs to be clearer than any other, while being able to seek out and identify potential members. A friendly approach is absolutely paramount. That is why I have chosen Ben Clew. He is active and friendly, proving to be more than capable of this position, as well as knowing how to communicate with others.

Election Coordinator – Andalas

Election coordination is absolutely essential to the running of any party. It needs excellent organisational skills, a high-level of dedication and a willingness to work hard. A person doing this has to know what is needed, and when it is needed. They need to be a good decision-maker, and be able to react to any potential problems. I feel that Andalas has shown many of these qualities, and I am sure that he can provide the necessary talent and dedication needed.

I believe that this group of people is more than enough to deal with any trouble which may arise. Their sheer raw talent and dedication to the party will ensure that this coming month will be one to remember for the Social Democratic Party. Of course, if any of them truly feel that they are not up to the job, then I already have a list of suitable replacements.

The Bland Gang

Wrapping-Up

That’s just about all I’ve got for the moment, though I like to think that it’s a pretty decent manifesto, if I do say so myself. Hopefully you’ll think that too, and maybe consider dropping by and placing your vote with me. If you have any questions or queries regarding my manifesto (or whatever else), feel free to ask me either in the comments below, or via a PM.

Till next time.

Your Resident bland man,

Blandman

The manifesto was alright, but you picked people who have failed to prove anything so far. What makes you think they can do anything more than they are actually doing ?

Blandman

Blandman Day 965, 13:41

I think they have all proved more than enough, and can continue to do so. I am more than certain that we shall all continue to grow with each other, as well as the party.

Melophore

I not questionning you, but the party has been shrinking, no policy ever put foward. Those people were in charge during that period.

Nothing is going to improve if you reward failure.

I like this manifesto. I may have to vote Blandman as of all the candidates to answer questions in the forum and provide manifestos he seems to be the one whose idea's I like most.
