[RESULTS] Aries II: Alliance and Poll

Dear fellow citizens,

This is a follow-up report based on the votes from the preliminary alliance vote.

First I want to make the following clear: this preliminary poll is in no way binding for the government and we realize that the outcome of 42 votes is not fully representative for the eNetherlands population. We appreciate that already a decent portion of our fellow citizens are sufficiently informed to be able to express their preferred alliance. However we do realize that there is still a significant part of the population who could not yet do that at the time of the previous poll. We will work to inform you on what these different alliances entail so you can make an educated choice for yourself.

Now let's get to the original intention of this article: interpreting the result from the public poll on alliances.

All votes
A first glance at the distribution of votes, gives us the information that about half of the voters (52😵 prefer Aurora (22 out of 42 votes).
Other observations are:
  • --Another significant portion of votes (24😵 went to Asteria/LETO (10 out of 42 votes).
  • --A rather marginal amount of votes (14😵 went to ProSirius/Sirius (6 out of 42 votes).
  • --10% voted Neutral (4 out of 42 votes).
I would like to repeat myself: We are well aware that this "quick poll" is not necessarily fully representative of the general eNetherlands population.



Segmentation by political position
Let's dive deeper into the numbers and try to understand how certain groups of citizens have chosen their votes. Let's make a distinction between citizens who are currently active in the government and citizens who are not directly involved in day-to-day public management.

We observe:
  • --About 30% of votes are by government members. (12 out of 42 votes)
  • --About 70% of votes are by other citizens. (30 out of 42 votes)

If we look at the distribution of votes for each of these segments individually, we see that members of government, who have cast their votes, did so nearly unanimously as 83% voted for Aurora (10 out of 12 votes).
In the other (non-gov) segment:
  • --the preference still is highest (40😵 for Aurora (12 out of 30 votes)
  • --but also Asteria/LETO has a significant share (30😵 (9 out of 30 votes).
  • --Again ProSirius/Sirius closes the race with a rather low 20% (6 out of 30 votes).

We could conclude that within the government there is a fairly unified view on which way to go. This should be fairly obvious as Aurora was one of the main selling points when our CP Aries Prime was running for Country Presidency. On the other hand we clearly see there is a divide within the segment of non-gov citizens where there are two clear subsegments: 40% for Aurora whereas a slightly smaller 30% for Asteria/LETO.



Segmentation by party membership
Finally we look at the segmentation of votes based on the voter's current party membership. We do not want to simplify an individual's choice to the adherence to their party, but we hope to learn something from these figures nevertheless.

We notice a broad support for Aurora from the different parties. There is barely any support for Aurora from GPN (2😵 or even none from HG (0😵.
  • --(Near) Unanymous support for Aurora from BG, DRP, I&W, VVN.
  • --Members of DemNL and Libertas did not convincingly cast their full support for Aurora.
  • --Members of GPN have a very dispersed voting pattern.
