***Realization of a Presidential Dream***

As people may know, being President of this country has for a long time been my dream and inspiration in this game for quite a time. now that I have been President for over a month, there are things that you realize, and suddenly your entire outlook on erepublik changes.
Why We Lead
I was asking this question to myself not too long ago when the country was up in arms over many war related issues. What is the point to being President if your job is to be the scapegoat when things go wrong? Part of the reason is that if a group wants to work effectively, they need to unite under a common cause. In the beginning of my term, the country was united under the cause of improving our country, something we actually accomplished through many new programs and the occasional war for economic stimulus. All in all, when we worked under a positive cause, the status of our country was great and we benefited greatly from that.
Now when things went wrong, there was division. Division over what tactics to be used, what kind of foreign policy should be enforced. At that time, America needed to be united, and as a leader I was forced to do what was necessary to unite our country, if not for a short time. I had to make the decision that was unpopular with the community, for example, that was paying the UK 100 Gold for the ATLANTIS fine. That choice went a long way towards keeping ATLANTIS united, and it in fact united our country as well. This time however, we united under a common enemy, someone to hate. Because of the tough decision and the division, the country seemingly united towards hating me.
Truths about being President
Being a leader, or even the President is a tough job. Anyone who's done it before me can attest to this, as it's a job that requires much more than anything else on erepublik. Imagining the effort it takes to run a country, much less the largest one with the most political tension, is near to impossible unless you've actually been in that position. People look up to you during times of need, or they will spit in your face. Every move you make is watched closely, and every action must be taken with care. This and many other things that I was not prepared for when I first took office.
After the first week you begin to settle in, and of course you begin to get a feel for how the job is done. After dreaming about being president for so long, finally having the position takes any idealistic views out of your mind and makes room for the robotic procedures and limitations that must be accepted into your routine.
So Just what am I saying?
Well, for those of you paying attention, you would notice that I seem to have lost that fiery passion that I've usually had for the job. Now before people start assuming a bunch of things, I want to make this much clear. I am not looking for pitty, nor do I have any desire to resign
I've always had a fiery passion that demands that I lead this country to its best potential. This passion and desire to lead the country into success is what kept me going, however with past events, lets say my ego has been deflated. this is not because of PEACE trolling the hell out of my every article (which they most likely will do to this one) or the fact that we have reached a draw in the war. No, it's because even when I attempt to make positive steps for our country, I am still met with that hatred for past events.
I remind everyone when positive reinforcement can do for someone. Not just myself but everyone around us in this country. Look at the war this way, we didn't lose, as we technically lost nothing, rather we gained a win for military experience and wellness boosts. In terms of land the war is a draw. My point is this, we still must stand united under a positive cause.

A New Vice President
On a lighter note, I'd like to announce that Kyle 321N is my new Vice President. First, I personally realized that there is no need for a Vice President over the last few days, as I managed perfectly fine without one. What is different with Kyle is that he's the Speaker of the House, and instead of fulfilling more Vice Presidential duties, he'll serve as a better base of communication between Congress and myself. In other words, he'll primarily be doing his SoH duties, however as VP, he'll be able to assist both Congress and myself more effectively.

The President does have it tough, that much is for sure. Every choice you make will be scrutinized and analyzed to a sickening degree. However I think that's the price of power.
As far as not losing anything in the war, we did lose one thing, public opinion both domestically and internationally. yes, there are quite a few plans in the making. we're discussing economics in congress as well as working to improve relations with Mexico at the same time. So far negotiations are continuing with good reason, and I would say that we're getting to a point where our countries can meet an agreement.

and look juan, you may have your opinion of me, and that's fine. I'm admitted my mistakes, and I've not trying to take positives steps to recover what damage was done to our country. What gets in the way, as well shown in the content of the article as that we're still suffering if we don't work together under a positive goal. Right now you're still holding onto the negative events that happened a week ago, and in effective, you're slowing progress for our country.
if you feel like doing that to our country through your attitude, that's your choice. As for me, I'm going to keep on the positive side and work for a better America. support for that would be appreciated, however not required.
Sam: Just to let you know, I am second guessing your view that you managed fine without a VP. While you have been negotiating away with PEACE, most of the country has dropped back into stagnation.
Juan: This is a game, and a comparison to a RL president is kind of sketchy. Sam is about as far from bush as you can get. And nobody would want Obama anyway. Try to keep the comments focused on in-game.
Juan your making yourself look like an imbicil so please stop talking, there is no possible way that you could do any better so just imagine if you were in his shoes.
I can understand that John, activity in the media is something that Joe brought to our country which helped to keep us active.
Uncle Sam, just to finish your term you're setting up the eUSA for major trouble in the near future, but you still pose as a martyr. Your denial of the most obvious facts regarding your failure is so stubborn, that I'm beginning to think you suffer from some sort of delusion and actually believe in what you say 🙂

@Sam, you might be angry at people for using RL arguments, but there is a good majority of players who follow them. And as much as you might disagree, many real life arguments do effectively carry over to eRep. Take into example recent events particularly in domestic and international diplomacy.
Still, I am honored to have you serve as president even if I don't agree with all of your policies. it takes a brave man to lead our nation even in the face of opposition. Not many possess the qualities to do it. I thank you for stepping forward and serving our enation.
Thank you for your candor Mr. President, I have no question that the effort of the job is severely underestimated by anyone other than those who have held it.
I also agree that it is time to move on and have made every effort to put aside my strident critiques for the benefit of national unity. I do have a couple of questions:
1) Does Kyle intend to step down from his role of SoH to take up the role of Vice President? Surely you can agree that there is a considerable conflict of interest present in having the elected leader of congress representing, exclusively, the interests of you administration. Or should we anticipate that congrssional representative that do not "toe the administration line" can expect political consequences for representing their constituency?
2)What efforts are you going to be taking to increase the success of unifying America? Will it be more communications like this or, perhaps, providing and promoting communication channels by which regular Americans can contribute to the solutions?

Mr. President,
Asking the eAmerican people to work together and unite is a good idea, and is something much needed. However, I don't think they are as divided as you believe. What may skew your view is that right now public opininon of you is not very high. You cannot ask the eAmerican people to forget about the past and act like it never happened - thats not the way it works.
I fully plan on supporting our country and working towards making the eUS better. But don't act like nothing happened, and ask all of us to just forget it. We were led into war and lost it, of course that will cause morale to sink. I think that your handling of this war was terrible, that you should have left the military planning to your military advisors. It can't be changed, but it does affect my veiw of you.
Really, I am sorry for the stress the office puts on you. But you did run for it, and you have stated that you wanted to be the ePresident. This is all part of the job.
Haha, I have a feeling that you consider every comment by a peace citizen trolling. You refer to it in every article, even when mistakes are being pointed out or when it are just responses to propaganda 😛.
You say we did not lose anything but in reality we did. Sure we did not lose any regions but now there are 4 more countries that we can't trade with and we have yet another open war with Portugal to the south. You can try and spin it as a draw all you want but its quite clear that Mexico gained more from this war then we did and that we just missed out on a great opportunity to add a few regions.
Saying its a draw because we didn't lose any land is like having sex with a hooker and contracting herpes, then saying its not a bad thing because you didn't get her pregnant.

A bored population struggling with a poorly tended economy is hard to entertain and satisfy and lack of peace-time success is the thing which drove this and preceding presidents to engage in foreign adventures. Now that the war is on hold Uncle Sam can offer nothing but showmanship to divert the eAmerican's attention from the dire state of the country and he will just keep making up reasons why his blunders were actually successes, and will talk empty words about national unity, strengthening economy, the burden of leadership, and so on while doing very little to solve the problems. Why do I think he's incapable of any economic or diplomatic achievement? Because the economy is even harder to direct than a war. Someone who blew the military equivalent of walk in the park because he got greedy can't manage the biggest eEconomy effectively - he can just pretend he is. Even now he's suggesting instant miracle cures (print 200 K eUSD to shut out importers! stop wars for a week to reduce prices!) when hard everyday work and fine tuning driven by deep understanding and careful observation is what's required. This president is 100% presentation and no substance, it's a pity the eUSA keep drawing the short straw at election time.

You are NOT a scapegoat. You are to blame. Granted, nobody in eAmerica is innocent. There are only degrees of guilt. But you, as the president, share the biggest load of blame.
Expect to be hated for past event. Past events you are responsible and have caused great damage.
Yes, you should be proud!! You stated a war with a nation with 1/40th of your population, with no MMPs, that had just been pillaged by a bunch of culprits and was facing a famine and you managed to draw!!!

You can't really say that anybody is making you a scape goat either when YOUR ACTIONS ALONE, caused the trouble. You were the one who gave the gold to the U.K. and caused the division and you were the one who attacked the southeast when people such as Justin and myself told you that would not be a smart thing to do. Your main weakness has been listening to your advisers and the opinions of others and now with this article it shows your other weakness, not being able to admit fault.
You got all the credit when the war was a success, its only fair that you take the blame for it when it turns sour.
Congrats to Kyle on the VP post. The Presidency looks like a tough job. I know an average joe like me wouldn't have the patience or time for it.
Joe I strongly encourage you to write an article on it. Would be great to see.
Things that could have gone better in Mexico:
1)Not allow Portugal to have borders with us.
2)Stopping while we we were with three territories captured.
3)Maybe give us coordination military for longer periods of time then for just two or so battles.

Will you be using my taxpayer money to pay these fines and reparations or will you be funding them from your own pocket?
Uncle Sam, we know your ego is not deflated because of the accusations and mocking you receive, but because nobody stands up in your defense. But that is understandable and the eAmericans can't be blamed for refusing to applaud you while you're trashing their country - you are guilty as charged, and after all the damage you've done you can't expect them to just forget and forgive. They probably would if you were showing ANY sign of repentance and willingness to change your ways, but even now you're giving them the same old whimsical and nontransparent decision-making packaged with inane propaganda slogans which brought about the eMexican fiasco in the first place. So why should they trust you?
Sam, the problems that eUSA & it's leaders don't look at the long term interests of eUS & develop the eNation accordingly. eUS is going backwards because it's leaders ain't undertaking activities that will help develop the eNation. As such, eUS is becoming weaker in conparison with other eNations & it's future is being less secure.

Sam should of stopped after 3 regions had been taken yes but then we all make mistakes and if none of you have ever made a mistake please step forward.
Sam may not be one of the most popular presidents that you have ever had. he may not be the greatest. but he did what he said he would and you need to take that on the chin and face it.
And as i have said so many times Portugal will not attack American Mainland or they will be kicked back to the Atlantic so stop worrying about it

Plans of Occupation
The USA will steamroll right into Mexico, taking quite a few regions at a time. Only specific politically targeted lands will be attacked with the exception of a few border regions. USA will continue to attack Mexico until we have reached the more southern regions, at which point, the USA will halt any further conquest. Upon completion of conquest in Mexico, peace will be declared, and certain regions will be returned to Mexico via Resistance Wars. USA will most likely keep a few regions with no geographical, economical or political purpose, as to not cripple Mexico.

I was with Sam the whole time... The wars in Mexico helped people level up quickly, my self included... I went up like 4 or 5 levels due to the wars. And then we went further into Mexico to try to gain more power which I understand, at least I am pretty sure it was for power... Then PEACE attacked and many people turned against Sam. And Sam paying 100 gold to ATLANTIS countries, like he said it was a way to keep ATLANTIS united and help us stay as a country controlled by ourselves... If we didn't pay ATLANTIS we would be MUCH more vulnerable to attack for PEACE and we would most likely be controlled by them. He might not of made the greatest choices in the eyes of the people... but he did what he had he thought would be best for us.

The country is doing fine it seems. Although I think we should be more proactive in helping Romania. They are some tuff ppl. They suffered the highest casualty percentage of their army in WW2. Romania will fight to the last man!
It *is* pretty sketchy to have the Speaker of the House also be the Vice President. There's a reason that we have checks and balances-- they actually keep the nation from tilting too crazily one way or the other. Making the Speaker of the House the Vice President is basically a coup d'etat on the legislature.
