[Proposal] MPP with eAustralia?
lancer450
Greetings to my fellow congress members, other members of the government, and fellow eBritish citizens,
The main point of this article is that it will serve as a place to provide a discussion area for the petition I have recently proposed. To begin, I am in favour of the idea that the eUnited Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Commonwealth of eAustralia sign a mutual protection pact (MPP) with one another.
Recently, eAustralia has signed a peace treaty with our ally, eChile, and they have taken steps towards joining the Circle of Trust (CoT) alliance. You can see the announcement of the treaty being signed here. I have also been in contact with their Minister of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Callumh123, and their Country President (CP), Greg MaCGregor, on IRC and have personally discussed with them the idea of having a MPP with each other. Both were very open to the idea and expressed interest in moving forward.
A MPP with eAustralia would undeniably benefit both of our countries by opening up more wars for respective citizens to fight in during those slow, boring times in which we have no direct wars to participate in. It would also further consolidate the bond between respective TWO and CoT countries. eAustralia, a country with a relatively small population, maintains a fervent, active, experienced, and strong population for its size. I propose that the government officially establishes a friendly, beneficial relationship between our two countries through the passage of a MPP as soon as possible.
I am sure our CP, BigAnt, and/or our MoFA would like to contact the eAustralian government themselves and possibly the government of eChile as well to validate what I have said in this article. I am perfectly fine with that. If anybody has any question or concerns, please feel free to leave a comment below. This is, after all, a place for discussion.
Thank you for your time,
P.S. This article was released just as I was writing up this proposal if anybody would like to see the official statement regarding the treaty from the eAustralian Department of Information. And this article was also released by the eChilean government detailing the treaty as well.

You flaming galah...
Joe Mangle for the win \o/
If they want to move over to CoTWO, I believe the UK should be more than accommodating to help bridge the gap
Australia also a member of CoT they are growing quick
Sounds good to me.
More than up for this if they're on good terms with eChile now
Just as FYI for the discussion, the final agreements just posted by eAus and eChile:

That said as an eAus senator I would be happy to support an MPP with eUK and as the eAus Senate speaker I believe an official senate discussion of this will be starting on our end momentarily.
Thank you, DraimAlexander. : )
TWO HQ has no issue if Chile has no issue 🙂
I would not oppose if Chile was happy.
Me wonders where wars will be coming from in the future with all countries moving to CoT
I voted the article.
I am fairly new at UK society, so I don't think it's appropriate to interfere on this matter.
Still, always an enthusiast about new friendships.
congrats on your 1000 subscriber Lancer 🙂 - Just noticed it roll over
Excellent! At last the Commonwealth comes together.
Sure!
I will not support this motion until I am 100% positive that eAus are 100% behind us. Consider me as a non supporter.
@alittlec4: and I won't support it until I know that the UK can be trusted not to backstab it's allies again. /sarc off.
Get over it, with an attitude like that nothing will be accomplished, it's half the problem with what's going on everywhere at the moment. With 1 region, soon 2 I doubt we will be helping anybody but our selves for a little while yet anyway.
Of course some may be sceptical of the idea, which is exactly why I said that I am perfectly fine with the government contacting the other governments mentioned themselves so they have the opportunity to discuss this further. Other than speaking with them personally, I don't see how else you can attain 100% assurance that they are totally behind us. How does one become 100% confident that they are completely behind us 100%? Perhaps a meeting can be arranged on IRC between members of both governments?
I can say that I support this idea to bridge a gap between two great countries. I hope this will pass and if either side has issues with funding the MPP and I'd be more than happy to pay for it for one month but I really hope that this can lead to great things in the future.
Go Lancer!

We would have mutual friends then. ^__^
eChile and eAustralia have peace? I don't think that will last. If that ends, that puts the eUK in a tough place.
eChile currently owns almost all of eAustralia, why would eAustralia want peace?
It will last unless eAustralia breaks the treaty that they signed and wishes to continue to be wiped with no chance of gaining ANY of their regions back. Read the treaty that was signed and you will understand the terms and conditions of the agreement. They want peace because they want some of their regions back and their treasury is also hurting as well. eAustralia has already wiped their previous MPP list and is now going to sign MPPs with pro-CoT and CoT countries. Be sure, again, to read the agreement. The eChilean government signed the deal already and those I have talked with assure me that they are confident that the treaty will be successful.
Contrary to belief, eChile does NOT hate eAustralia. In fact, eChile and eAustralia were once allies. I would know. I was there. Both countries wish to move forward and are on the fast track to developing a friendly and beneficial relationship.

@John
"eChile currently owns almost all of eAustralia, why would eAustralia want peace?"
We're currently in no position to actually fight Chile in a 1v1 and since Brazil and the USA have switched sides our chances where fading even more.
It gets incredibly tiresome fighting RW after RW to no avail for months on end and it's nice to see a change of gameplan.
eUK and eAus relations have been slowly growing for awhile, it's good we're finally coming together 😃
My time in eAus was my favourite time on eRep, they're pretty cool people.
Im in full support of this move. I think bringing our countries closer together once more can only be a good thing.
The problem that was holding anything positive back between Aus and Chile, was trust. When there is no trust, how do you come to an agreement? The best thing that will come out of this current agreement is the rebuilding of trust, and then we can continue forward with everything else.
The UK doesn't have a huge amount of damage, neither does Australia. Australia is bordered by Chile, Indonesia and Brazil - either CoT or pro-CoT nations. We are unlikely to have serious war, and even if we are, Australian damage will change little in that. The same is true of Australia (if they do have a 'serious war' their geography shows it can only be with a nation to which we are allied).
If you want to be friends, we can be friends, and talk. But an MPP is 10,000 currency, of which the UK has little to spare thanks to tax cuts and big spending this month.
Why not? I remember when I first went into congress and it was discussed that MPP's could be funded privately if the public had a strong wish to...it was touted for Saudi Arabia by eLiam as well as several others. So if the eUK coffers are short then I am sure we could discuss something about a public backing for it...It would be nice for closer ties to our Aussie cousins
good one 🙂
I vote YES!
Hugh, I believe we can no longer donate to the coffers, sadly. though, if I am wrong, please correct me.
There is a way to donate to the treasury by other means, I believe but it relies on a high VAT tax rate and a trustworthy "other" person. Seeing as people want taxes lowered, that option will either take a long time to do or will not be worth doing.
I support this btw.
B-b-b-but they live upside down!
Jamesw is right - nothing against being friends, but we don't make enough money or damage for an MPP to be worth while, and you have nobody bordering you we would want you to use our MPP against.
The "too small" argument is bollocks whilst we're allied with Estonia and Latvia
I support this, I think it would be good for us in the long run.
At least Estonia and Latvia provide wars. Only recently BA said we'd stop MPPing small countries to save money and afford the tax cuts, so I'm not sure why we have those MPPs atm.
nah. You guys will just cancel the MPP next time we kick ya at the ashes or in Rugby 😛
if the aussise ar in Cot there only border is indonesia who we dont want to fight
Waste of money
90% are a waste of money... Yet we still sign them...
I for one, would back a MPP with our convict cousins.
having a MPP with another country on the other side of the time zone would be of help to us should we need it. That being said with COT not on friendly terms with our current CP right now maybe we should be looking to mend the bridges closer to home before we look further afield
I'd certainly support this MPP. The advantage an Australian time zone would bring to our wars would be great. We would need to make it clear that Chile are our 'favourite' of the two but this MPP could be great for us.
when I saw the name of the article I thought it was a stupid idea but the article has changed my opinion I now think it isn't a bad idea to be allied with a few hundred convicts (joking) but seriously, this could really help our country as jimbobfrey says the time zone differance would be really good for both of us
To everyone that is saying estonia and latvia are a waste of money, they may be small but the (fairly) small time differance gives us a slight advantage and you could say they are the unsung heros who constantly are helping us (they made a big differance when we were invaded and wiped by Germany, France and Ireland) we owe them a lot, the least we can do is spend a couple of thousand to keep as allies
