[Prime Minister] Can we get a Congress? (Mickskitz)
Aus Prime Minister Office
Greetings to all my Proles!
There has been a very interesting development happen last night which I'm sure you will be keen to hear about Many of you will read the first line and go no further and just call for my head. That is fine you will have it soon enough anyway
😛.
Last night (actually the early hour of the morning here) Dr Hugh Jardon, our beloved vCP managed to arrange a meeting with Daanthia who is the MoFA with Chile. We have been trying to get a meeting with them for some time now and they finally agreed to meet (thank Hugh's flirting skills for that). I gave Hugh some guide lines and together they came to what appears to be a fair deal.
We have agreed to sign a form of NAP with Chile, in exchange for Tasmania which should occur in time for us to gain a senate. The conditions are few and not unreasonable. The conditions are:
1: We do not NE Chile
2: We do not MPP Greece, Serbia or Romania.
3: No more conditions
This means that we can start as many RW's as we want when ever we want without risking being re-wiped. It also means that people can travel to other countries to fight if you really want to fight against them or for someone else without it risking us being wiped. 2 simple and not overly burdensome rules. While it is unfortunate that we won't be able to renew our MPP's with those 3 nations who have been very good to us, it does not reflect our friendship with these countries which are all still very important to us. We are not restricted in joining Asteria either if we choose to, but under no circumstances can we sign an MPP with those nations.
Aside from just having a senate (which is important), this will significantly boost our tax revenue, as well as provide cattle bonues's for us, we will have the option of signing MPP's again. We recently contacted several nations regarding renewing MPP's, none of which agreed to sign an MPP due to our conflict with Chile.
This I hope will also be the start of Chile returning regions, however we are both conscious of Indo wanting to invade if they get half a chance, which is why we have chosen Tas to free. Chile also agreed to this as it doesn't impact on their bonues's.
I know plenty of people will be pissed at this, that we are making any deal at all and I understand, but I feel our nation is hurting while we don't have a senate, or any regions. Our bank accounts are just bleeding money, and while we still have some it seems fine, but nothing lasts for ever. I wouldn't be making a deal if I saw another way to achieve the same means, but that simply is not the reality we live in.
At the end of the day, if this seems to be an offensive offer to you please make your voice heard. This is a NAP which can be retreated upon, but at a heavy cost to us. This might be our one true chance to rebuild, I hope you join me.

V!
yay, finally a senatre!
We need more people.
and to get that we need people. Since we are unlikely to be going into full scale wars with countries we can concentrate on getting a baby boom going
I got two today from my school
joy....
I like this
"none of which agreed to sign an MPP due to our conflict with Chile."
So questions (which may or may not be better via forums),
1. Asteria alliance, if we went that way what is there charter (cannot recall seeing it) does it requires signing MPP's with all other members.
2. Sirius alliance, if they were not to accept us, see question 1.
3. "This I hope will also be the start of Chile returning regions" I hope this will be in the NAP not just Tasmania so we get congress. Yes Tassie might get us a region but doesn't give us really much to get going again
It is nice to get a region but we don't want to end up between a man meat sandwich and stuck in the corner with nowhere to go
...lets just say we have options open to us.
As per Mick said
"please make your voice heard"
So will we get them via the forums or will it be all closed door and only certain members will get to vote?
If the talks are above my pay rate, a slightly expanded response will be appreciated, like "we are in further talks that take 23.5hrs to do" is NES going to be voting on this?
I read between Mick's lines and can see that there are some things that still may require some ironing out ie Only Tas is a definate so far.
I am only pushing as Csanat was held accountable for not having a senate liaison which could advise senate as to what is happening but this month seems acceptable for some reason
Well Chile did leave the door open for releasing other regions down the line if we keep to the agreement...trouble is one region borders Indo and you can bet they will attack as soon as they have the opportunity...catch 22 situation.
As for a vote, we'll that's not my decision mate and I'm not on the senate liaison committee so can't answer that one.
I have put up a vote in the sensitive part of the senate on the forum for the NES to vote on, so only senators can see this, this is as a log was included, and I don't like putting logs on public pages. Unfortunately due to time constants this will be only a 12 hour vote, as I will need to sign the NAP in the early hours of tomorrow.
There are no secrets about this deal, there is nothing that I am (deliberately) withholding about it, I want every one to make an informed decision about it, that is why I put in place the NES in the first place.
You are correct, the deal is only for Tas, but a NAP needs to be renewed by both countries each month so that it the time when negotiations for other regions can occur.
I very much agree that people should be kept informed, and am sorry if it seems like I haven't been doing that.
-Asteria charter is here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/legacy-of-asteria-charter-of-asteria-and-hq-elections-2375070/1/20
-Mick will need to get this through the NES/Senate for it to pass.
-We are still exploring options and talking to people at the same time as this is being discussed.
The vote is up http://auserepublik.com/index.php?topic=22444.0
You are welcome to question everything here.
I have not seen the Asteria alliance (it is not listed under their alliance yet). It is rare that a alliance requires all MPPs to be signed though, as there can be many nations in an alliance which prohibits the cost of signing a MPP with everyone though. It is a valid point, so I have messaged the SG from Asteria to explain our situation and I hope to chat to him later tonight.
There is no guarantees in life, and Sirius may still not accept us. I am not sure what their reason for doing so now is, but before it was due to a risk of a NE battle which would cause MPP's to be lost and that they are wanting to present a good appearance to Chile who stated they are Pro-Sirius. I plan to talk to Asteria tonight as mentioned above, at which point I will have a better understanding of our options.
At this time, there are no official provisions for the return of other regions. This will need to be part of the NAP renewal discussions that will occur each month.
''There is no guarantees in life, and Sirius may still not accept us. Just to add to what Mick said - Daanitha the MoFA of Chile has stated that with this NAP that they have no issues with us being in a pro-Sirius alliance with them.
For a small nation without options currently this is the best deal we could get to start with.
Granted it is not ideal, but we have stronger nations on our doorstep and we can give Indonesia the 'up yours' sign for now. At least now we can concentrate on a senate, retaining new and young players and looking for other options.
All is not as bad as it seems, when I first joined this game the eUK was wiped by three nations and remained months for half a year...fast forward and they end up with a small empire and a huge influence in TWO HQ and now Sirius. Things are never as bad as they seem...keep the faith people
voted purely for the "up yours" point
not unreasonable? 🙂
Do u realize what exactly that means not to sign MPP with those nations ( those who actually has potential threat to attack them and who helped the most for us ) How would they react? Oh no problem, we understand 1 region is more important for you than having an MPP with us. And Hugh I remember you giving very bad name about eUK policy and now you stood them here as a good example...well a bit controversial.
I know that the current situation is bad, but giving up friendship, having 1 region and surrender is not how I roll and I won't accept that decision. But that is only me, I'm a free citizen anyway even we won't have a region for months, but whenever we sell ourselves to those who constantly wipe us and treat us as their dogs, I won't feel free anymore.
Its not only you Csanat this is a terrible thing that has happened : (
I do agree it is far from perfect Louise. When I was in the eUK at the start we went months wiped by Ireland, Canada and France and in the end the Irish gave us a region to have a senate. Morale boosted and it was easier for people to stick around. My only concern in all this is the young players I talk to In PM's who don't stick around because there is no regions and no hope. Player retention is my goal.
I was asked to talk to Chile and they responded with an offer and wouldn't budge on that. Despite the rights or wrongs they are under no obligation to offer us anything if we are honest, and Canada had to rent back their regions when they were wiped by Spain recently so it could have been worse.
The acceptance is down to the CP and possibly the senate liaison committee...i don't keep up to date with the forum legislation so you can fill me in on that 😛
No, I used the eUK as an example of how a small nation can punch above their weight not long after being wiped for a long time. Trouble is we don't have their influence and eAustralia is still a very small nation.
To sum it up - we try Sirius and if...IF...they let us in I doubt they would demand eChile hands back our regions. We'll share the same MPP's and Sirius needs Chile's damage at the minute as they are losing the alliance wars, so as soon as we regain regions and upset Chile and their allies then we'll be out on our ear.
Asteria - the only power in our region is Argentina and they have shown they want to try pastures new and leave behind the usual conflict with Chile...so that's a no go even if...IF...they want us in.
Options 'A' and 'B' see's us wiped and with no options but keep RW'ing that will just see Chile reclaim them 24 hours later even if we succeed. A deal allows us a monthly rolling agreement where we can at least look at options such as an airstrike. Senate will encourage activity hopefully and we can build.
I would like to say this: eUK is not a small nation. They are no Poland or Serbia, but they are not like us or eNZ either.
No but when I joined they were no match for France or Canada but they have grown. The players who stayed because we got congress have gone on to become the eUK's big hitting tanks...especially Frag UK.
The point i was making is that a nation wiped by stronger ones and needing a begging bowl of an NAP agreement can become stronger and more influential 😉
I realize what not signing a MPP can imply to a nation, I am writing to the CP's of the 3 countries involved to explain the situation. I don't think that they would see this very different to how I do. Some times you have to make sacrifices for the greater good. In this case the sacrifice is not signing a MPP with them, I still want to keep our friendship with these countries as much as possible. We have been occupied for I think about 18 months over the past 2 years and this deal offers a possible end to that.
I don't see it as throwing away friends, these countries are important to us either way. We can still set priorities towards them if we choose, but no official MPP's can take place.
With this agreement, we can continue to RW, and there are no fewer possibilities for getting freedom than we currently have. If our MPP stack aligns with Chile, they won't want to NE us as they would lose their MPP's as well, so there is very little risk for us, even if we win a RW.
There have been much worse NAP's offered, with this one, we are not required to pay rent, and are allowed to go about our business as long as we don't sign 3 MPPs. I personally don't feel that takes away our freedom. If we go into the Sirius alliance we would not have these MPP's anyway.
Sometimes the most effective medicine is the most bitter to swallow. Don't let pride overcome reason and do not be so short-sighted as to see this as capitulation, but rather an opportunity in an environment of limited options.
Flatty's last para prompts me to reply so I will make my voice heard.
I would rather not be doing it here but in the privacy of our forum.
I am so against this proposed NAP/Capitulation. Its not effective medicine it is this

My reason is not blinded by pride & I am definitely not short sighted.
Either way there will be a big cost to Aus. and I think there is confusion between price & value. The value of the friendships we turn our back on; the loss of pride & respect; the selling of ourselves - they cannot be quantified but I can tell you that they are much much more than the gains of one lousy region & whatever may or more likely may not be gained in future.
The majority of Aus will decide what it decides & I respect democracy - but like Csanat I am a free citizen & I am determined to stay that way, even if it has to be in some other Nation
How did I get involved here?
"At the end of the day, if this seems to be an offensive offer to you please make your voice heard. This is a NAP which can be retreated upon, but at a heavy cost to us. This might be our one true chance to rebuild, I hope you join me."
your last para. I am making my voice heard
actually by accident - I confused you with Mickskitz
Ok I'll pretend you meant to say my name Louise 😛
I tried to look at that image, but it came up as a virus warning. lol
While I understand with your position that if we don't sign a MPP and agree to not sign a MPP with nations that we are turning our backs on our friendship, I disagree. I don't think MPPs are the true reflection on friendships in this game, it is peoples actions. I am writing to each of the CP's of the nations involved to explain our predicament, and to say that it has nothing to do with our relations with them. If I felt that not signing the MPP's would lead to us being viewed as turning our backs on a friendship, then I would very much agree with your position about it not being worth 1 region. I don't see it as that kind of trade.
I feel that friendship can remain, regardless of MPP's.
That's ok Louise, Mick is my multi anyways.

My Homer is not a communist. He may be a liar, a pig, an idiot, a communist, but he is *not* a porn star!
Favourite quote ever from that show!
Waste of time. Stop begging for scraps.
No. I want an invitation to join ICBM with the understanding that we will try maximise everyone's resources locally.
If neither Sirius nor Asteria are prepared to even entertain us, then they are not an option anyway. Join Indonesia-Chile-Bulgaria-Makedonija.
Bulgaria are good allies.
Makedonija have in the past been keen to be more involved in Aus.
Chile are reasonable when you get past the stubborn vengeance mode.
Indonesia can be dealt with when there is suitable incentive for them.
So far our territorial neighbours (Argentina and New Zealand) are both Asteria.
I think this was a smart move, my limited understand of eAus history is that, well we've been conqured quite frequently. Even if it's just one state, it seems to be a defensive state which isn't at the risk of being invaded and taken from us. It will be good to stop rotating states and finally have somewhere to call our own.
Ms MoneyPenny, whether its a smart move or not will remain to be seen, But apparently it is what the majority of Australians want.
Whatever you may think Tasmania is not a defensive state - it exists at the whim of Chile. It is a scrap thrown to Australians to keep them happy and to save Chile the costs associated with occupying all the other states.
Chile can now pursue its dreams of empire in Europe. I will be happy to oppose them there to the best of my ability.
Here you are, Australia's new national anthem

Umm from Chile's MoD in their Newspaper
""Chileans, Australians are dying, for this reason the CP of Australia approached our government, asking please territory before 23, only to have Congress. They have no problem being deleted, but want to have Congress. It is known that Australia has not been a country that has fulfilled its commitments, but if the Australian citizenship is dying, it is because we ourselves do not incentivize them.
So because of this, is that Tasmania refund before day 23, and then send the NE on the 25th and they are deleted on the 26th with the Congress.""
... So we get congress but no region? Weak deal...
What can I say : (
I refuse to say "I told you so"
