[Presidential Election] Why do I support Richard Feist?

Day 1,810, 08:15 by Goku Jones

Presidents of the Old Era.
Let’s get this out of the way first:
The current method of selecting Presidential Candidates is WRONG!

Single Party Candidates:
What happened in the past is that TUP and UKRP would run candidates against each other and whoever could buy or otherwise gain the support of the most of the other three parties would win. As the UK decayed it would tend to either be TUP running solo unopposed or a coalition of most of the other parties going against them usually led by ESO.

The result of this is a Single Party Government (TUP) plus a few key others to secure votes, rather than the best people. I myself participated in this system and sold my party's votes to UKRP for a Ministry position, where I was heavily directed and supported by the President.

Minister in Chief:
The candidates both sides ran would be multi term Ministers. At first they would tend to be from a major Ministry such as MoD, MoF, MoHA or MoFA. Eventually the UK decayed to the point where a minor Minister such as MoLA could run off several months of doing nothing.

What we got where Presidents would focus on their old Ministries and neglect the others. Recently we have had a superb MoFA (Iain Keers), MoHA (BigAnt) and MoD (MagicHereos), but they should have been being the President and not the Minister. Some managed this better than others and it's wide open to a "superb" MoLA (Appleby) being a Presidential MoLA and doing nothing for a month.

Solo Government:
The President is generally expected to do ALL of the work of Government, taking charge of each Ministry; this is because of that vast list of positions and experience they post in their manifesto. Their Ministers are usually not as experienced and seek direction.

This gives us Ministers afraid to use any authority and do the radical changes we need because the more experienced President has to agree and manage each aspect, utterly burning out the President. We have had many Presidents quit a few weeks into their terms, either officially (and impeached) or in secret (and so go inactive).

Presidents of the New Era.
This month we did things differently:
The United Kingdom Progression Party and New Era worked together.

A Unity Candidate:
We don't have a Single Party Candidate with the support of other parties bought. We worked on a programme of changes and reforms together which could have been headed by either a NE or UKPP member, it was the policies which mattered and not the candidate.

Richard Feist being close to both UKPP (former member) and NE (current member) was the ideal person to represent and lead both parties.

A President:
We don't have a Minister in Chief representing one area of Government, ready to do all the changes he ever dreamed of but didn't have the authority to do in a single Ministry. We wanted a person who represented what we wanted for the future of the UK and lead it in that direction.

Richard Feist being a 2012 player is the ideal person to represent that we want to build up and invest in our newer players; and to lead them.

Communal Government:
We don't have someone who is able to or is going to attempt to run the entire government on his own. We wanted a strong team of Ministers ready to take up responsibility for themselves, but with someone who would reign them in if necessary.

Richard Feist has come up with a fantastic Cabinet with new and old talent representing the Top 5 Parties (TUP-UKPP-NE-ESO-PCP), refusing to make me Minister of Justice!

Final Thoughts.
I cannot wait for this election. I have enjoyed pitting my wits against the sadistic evil of Dan Moir so far and doing my bit for the campaign. Do we want Feist's interesting new future or Moir's boring "good" government? It could be very close and every vote matters.

It's been a bit of a rush to get everything ready but it is going to be great and next month will be even better! It has been an honour to watch and help build up some great New Era players this month and we will aim for even more next month.

My one disappointment is that PCP could not take part in our policy discussions, get on IRC guys! Our thoughts are with you and I know that Alfagrem is busy eating the corpse of UKRP to get you guys back into the Top 5, narrowing to gap from 20 to 10.

The New Era, Progression, REAL Reform... it is almost here. Help bring it in on the 5th November!

When I joined the game Richard Feist was a massive help to me , he has loads of time for people and from the first moment I meet him he always stood out as a leader .

To all new members of the game , voting for Richard shows new players like you, you too can move up the ranks of this game without the older players trying to keep control all the time , or telling you , you don't have enough experience , Vote Richard Feist on Monday and bring in this New Era

Iain Keers

Who is he?

Danie Fox

He ran the UKPP and their MU apparently. I think he's been pushed into running before he has enough experience.

Danie Fox

He seems quite nice since I first heard of him yesterday though.

@ Iain Keers: like is said to Spygon on a different article "have you got a short memory/attention span?" Richard ran, as Deputy CP with Ayame Crocodile, against YOU!!

GameChanger

He's a nice guy, but I still think Talon deserves another term

Alphabethis

@Keers, "who is he?", you should know, aren't you the judge specialized in approving people into the country? Can't you know eUK own people ? You must be kidding/trolling

Fourth article saying almost the same. Hope to see some real information.

Telling about making other parties top 5, running puppets or empty reforms is not that interesting...

Alfagrem
Alfagrem Day 1,810, 18:00

Keers: "Who is he? "

To be fair to Mr Keers he's not a eUKer. How many ePoles would know RFeist or indeed any other 6 month old eUKer?

Iain Keers
Iain Keers Day 1,810, 18:27

Ha ha Alfagrem. That is like, sooo funny how you pretend not to know that I'm involved in the UK pretty much every day at every level. You can't make propaganda going on about how I secretly control the UK in one article then pretend I'm foreign in the next. Besides, you spent most of the last year fighting for Canada.

@Neil, no I don't remember that at all. I didn't take much notice of ACroc's cabinet I have to say. But failing to be elected as deputy PM is hardly an achievement.

Rfeist
Rfeist Day 1,810, 20:15

@Ian Keers- you should at least know me from questions about people coming into the eUK.

At the same time I dont expect to be remembered for a 'failed' run.I think that I should be judged on what I have/can do rather than what I havent/have not yet done.

Alfagrem
Alfagrem Day 1,810, 22:05

Keers >"That is like, sooo funny how you pretend not to know that I'm involved in the UK pretty much every day at every level."

and yet you have no recollection of a fairly active new player who has been a PP of the second largest party and a three-times congressmember?

If it ain't TUP and its not on the 'Kumnaa' forums - I guess it don't count.

Goku Jones
Goku Jones Day 1,811, 03:54

Iain Keers, who was MagicHereos? Is he enjoying the CP Medal you sold him and being back in Poland?

Dr Hugh Jardon
Dr Hugh Jardon Day 1,811, 08:25

And leave Keers alone, he laid down so much damage for the eUK when the French/Canadians/Irish occupied us....erm...well...damage is over rated....HE WAS ACTIVE IN AN IRC CHATBOX SO LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!
