[Presidential Address] Air Canada Flight 2374 Now Departing

My Fellow eCanadians,

Today we embark on the adventure of a lifetime, we begin our expedition to the exotic land of India. This adventure has been in the works for about a week now, but due to coordination with our allies we could not make a specific announcement until now. This Air Strike is the result of Argentina and our LETO allies working out a deal for eCanada and other allies to get regions for Congressional elections.

I know the plan for the term was to harass the eUS and make progress in our war with them and we have, but securing a Congress adds additional revenue for our citizens and increases activity. By getting a Congress we also slap the eUS in the face and show them that no matter what they do we will never surrender to them. It also shows them that our current allies are better for us than our relationship with them has been in a long time.

It is my intention that this will be the turning point in our war against the eUS. While the war is far from over, by having a Congress we will have access to the funds we need to continue our fight against the eUS. We will press on, and will continue to deprive them of their resource bonuses every chance we get. So get ready, our adventures in India are about to begin.

Liberty Bonds

A few days ago we began selling Liberty Bonds and I am happy to say we have quite a few people begin investing in the war effort. If you have not purchased yours yet I will share with you the details. Each Liberty Bonds will cost 100cc and for the initial offering individuals will only be able to buy a maximum of 20 bonds. These Bonds will pay 5.5% interest upon reaching maturity. Liberty Bonds reach maturity upon the cessation of hostilities between eCanada and the eUS. Only 5000 Liberty Bonds will be offered in total. Do your part, support the war effort, and make money.

Relocating allows congress - a return to normal routines, activity, community.
Revenue/Work Tax are all perks, but the little CC we'd make certainly isn't the motivating factor.

When the war with the eUS starts the eUS tell eCanada to drop our MPP with eSerbia, and break all ties. eCanada responds by saying we won't let another country dictate our foreign policy.

May 5th: Everyone is against an Air Strike
May 11th or 12th: eArgentina tells eCanada to Air Strike eIndia, eCanada begins making preparations to do as it's told.
May 21st: eCanada Air Strikes eIndia.

Considering the complete 180 on our foreign policy in less than a week I'd be interested to know what I'm missing.

Everyone was against it (you being one of the most vocal opponents) then eArgentina tells us to do it, and those same people instantly think it's the best idea ever (you being the most vocal supporter).

I guess the question I'm asking is, do we let foreign countries dictate our policy or don't we?

Campaigning saying we are going to "win" a war via AS with no actual plan in place is pointless. It is most certainly going to fail because without an actual plan in place, there cannot possibly exist any backing or support.

eCanada cannot and will never be able to hold onto a region of any other country without the proper support and backing.

So yes, I was against just blankly throwing out the AS card and doing the hail-mary in hoping we land and stick somewhere.

However, eArgentina presented us with an opportunity (where the choice was most certainly ours) if we WANTED to get a region for congress. They/LETO would back and support this airstrike.

So...given zero plans/support/realistic goals versus a solid plan backed by an alliance and country that can/does hold foreign territories I would go for the latter any day.

First off Argentina told us to do nothing, they offered us the ability to hold stable regions. This will allow us to have stability while fighting the eUS.

The AS campaigned on by Cptkaydee isn't exactly the same as what happened this month. Our friends offered us help and we accepted it to give the community Congress and some hope. I'm sorry if you don't approve.

Actually, his plan wasn't just to "Hail Mary" an AS. It was to do the work and find a viable target with allied support, and make a real go of it. Basically everything that we got when eArgentina told us to launch on eIndia.

When KayDee wants to do it it's "Running Away", when DMV does what he's told by a foreign power it's a "Strategic Withdrawl".

You're framing the argument like one situation is a finely nuanced, and well structured plan while the other was little more than an attempt to throw something against the wall and see what stuck when that's far from the reality of the situation.

Muglack I would say the big difference is the success we have had on the battlefield this month. The fact is we have shown we can cause the eUS pain and we will continue to do so in the future, but right now our community needs something to look forward to, getting a Congress gives us a lot of benefits we wouldn't have without one.

I realize writing 2 articles in 3 days after not bothering to write one for the better part of a week is a lot of work (even if the articles you wrote didn't actually have any pertinent information in them, and were little more than an attempt to garner donations ) but how about you take the time and actually answer questions instead of just writing 3 word responses.

Hard to drum support for something without a target, and without allied support. The button has been pushed now so we need to land it to make this conversation relevant.

Also there is a difference between a friend offering you an opportunity and an enemy offering you unconditional surrender without hope.

Taking the US offer we should all just stop playing or leave. Taking the Argentina AS offer we are at least still playing and trying.

I don't disagree with any of this. My disconnect comes from the break downs between then and now.

First the AS as proposed by the candidate on the 5th was that they would do everything they could to find what was required for an AS. That is to say, allies to support it, a region to launch it on, the resources to launch it, etc...

When that idea was tabled the same people who are strong supporters of the AS now, were vehemently against it then. They didn't say, "If the situation presents itself an AS is an excellent option", they said, "AS are a waste of resources, and it'll look like we're running away. I'm completely against it."

It's not like it had been 3 months, and the world had changed. It had literally been at most a week. What caused people to completely change their minds?

My initial issue with campaigning on the AS idea was that it is very grandiose in its attempts, which tends to mask the issues with it; what happens after the attack is launched.

Campaigning on "we'll try to make it work" isn't good enough for me.
This option for an AS was presented to us, as opposed to formulated by us. Very rarely do you get gifted a region and an unconditional offer of support from allies.

We could fall flat on our faces, sure, but all the hard work of building the support and framework for the attack is already done.

For a long time I'm against an AS. Not for any reason other than I leaned a lesson when Switzerland AS Alberta to rent from Canada. It was hoped that Slovenia would be satisfied with the 4 original regions and leave us alone. That lasted 1 1/2 months. AS is expensive, it is not worth the cost to have congress every month. Lesson learned.

Flip forward to Canada AS. Argentina holds India wiped. (I will refrain from comment about any country wiping another. That is a separate discussion.) Arge approaches us with a plan. It is discussed with all of LETO. Arge will turn over their colony in India to LETO countries that are wiped/nearly wiped. It is felt that it will be easier to defend Indian colonies as a whole than fight for individual original regions.

Canada has been in negotiation with Calvin Hobbes, CP of India to make this a good arrangement for all. We would like to see India regularly have a congress and not have to fight for it. Monetary consideration is also being discussed.

So you may blow on about Argentina dictating our actions. This was a very generous offer to help many other LETO countries. They did not have to do this. Also many countries are helping get this done with the extra damage we need. Canada, in turn, intends to help the other AS's as they happen and to defend the Indian colonies from those that would like to see this fail.

We are doing this to have fun, make the game more exciting and it never hurts to flip the bird at the US. They call us hypocrites. lol Before Canada getting wiped they wiped Mexico for a year. Sure there were bonuses involved but mostly it was for the lulz.

I may not agree with the answers, but I appreciate you taking the time to actually give them instead of just throwing the same garbage at me over and over again without bothering to move it forward.
