The battle begins today, not the one on the battlefield mind you, but the battle to get Congress to help pay for a war most of them wanted. I asked Crisfire to start a PM asking Congress to support tax increases to help pay for the war and the whining started almost immediately. Not offers for compromise, but whining because they can't afford to pay higher taxes. These are the same people who get five gold for being elected, and can't bother electing their Speaker or even signing on to the forum to do their job.
I wasn't elected because I'm friendly, I was elected because I know how to win and provide Canada with entertainment. So imagine my surprise when people thought I would be swayed by their sob stories and complaining. So when it became apparent that certain people had no interest in compromise I gave Congress an ultimatum, pass the tax increases or I'm cutting you off. I have no intention of backing down. I started the term with 800k cc ready to go for COs. I still have quite a bit of that ready for COs, but not as long as the Selfish defeatists in Congress are unwilling to pass a tax increase.
We have a choice, we can either come together and work as a team or we can fight and bicker until we lose the war. We currently have a handful of people who pay for 90% of the fun and entertainment Canadians enjoy, while a large minority complain while doing little to nothing for the greater good. This can not continue, and as much as people complain about Plato killing the game the truth is the average player is doing more to kill this game than Plato is. Instead of trying to build up the community and work together we complain about how bad things are and ignore the fact that being here is a choice we all make. We can either work together and contribute or we can b**** and complain while doing nothing. The choice is yours.
I know no one likes higher taxes, but the fact is higher taxes will allow us to win this war and benefit from higher resource bonuses. If you own a weapon factory or WRM factory you're enjoying 70% production bonus instead of 60%. If taxes were to increase to 10% from 5% each Canadian would pay an additional 1.88 cc per company WAMing. If you have 20 companies you WAM that's an additional 37.60 in taxes per day or 1128.00 in taxes for a 30 day month. If you win one TP medal in that month you nearly break even and if you win two you've profited 872cc. Yes, higher taxes suck, but if you're fighting for Canada you will make more money while still WAMing everyday. For the vast majority of active Canadians the benefits will far exceed the additional taxes.
So the question we need to ask is: Do we want to have fun and profit from that or do we want to be selfish and greedy while hoping someone else pays our way?

Seriously, I agree, move to Germany. I have friends there, they are good people, you would have fun. The big difference between the two countries is that Germany has several Visa warriors. Hey, there's nothing wrong with that! I had my fun too. The point is this warrior has put away his Visa. I'm not saying I paid for everything Canada did, that's ridiculous. Other gold buyers are tired of it too.
So if you want to take a 'free ride' go to Germany and let them pay your way.

It must be frustrating using RL money to fund a war then asking people to raise fake tax's to continue war.
Your money would be better spent obtaining a dictatorship DMV then raising the tax's yourself.

It's not the money that bothers me, it was the way certain people said absolutely not without so much as asking a question or offering a compromise. I don't respond well to people who act like that.
There were people asking and coming up with compromises and you flipped out and insulted everyone.
People after compromises after the initial whining and moaning and after I issued my ultimatum to Congress. Too little, too late.
I think this is a serious matter and you should take the time to discuss all options

I still love Canada but I'm not funding other people's fun anymore and I can live with that.
I have a moderately sized Q7 production operation going. I'd pay more tax to support the war. I suspect this is more about Congress ego and posturing then sincere debate regarding fiscal planning. One of many reason I support a dictatorship.

Anything less than 20% is a waste of time. Raising taxes can cause inflation, but, inflation in erep isn't a bad thing. Most costs are fixed. MPP's, Airstrikes, War, etc. So, by all means, raise taxes and lets have a little inflation.

10% is a fair price for the maintenance of war. If Congress has any sense, it will not prevent a tax hike to pay for the CO's. So far, most of the money for the war has come from private citizens. Congress has a history of screwing us over when we are at war because "they know better." Please don't make this mistake again just because things are going well. If we want to stay in Europe for any appreciable amount of time we need to pay up.
