[President] Thank you for the stability, Sweden!

Day 2,693, 08:53 Published in Sweden Sweden by Valnad
Today my ninth month as president in this country comes to an end. It usually takes a few years between my presidencies, so I'd like to thank you all for the support and hopefully we'll have a chance to repeat the process again in the future.

I have played this game for five years now and during that time I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of fun, odd, strange, and interesting people both in our eSwedish community and from other nations. I makes me glad to see that some of the old faces have resurfaced recently. But it's also fun to receive messages from new players asking for advice or directions to the forums.

Bye bye angry baby, welcome new, less grumpy president?

When I became president for the first time, roughly 4½ years ago, I was the new kid on the block who wanted to reform the government and put Sweden back on the map as a military authority again. I plunged headlong into every IRC discussion, alliance meeting, backwater channel and diplomatic negotiation. I handpicked new and old players to help me out and the sky was our only limit.

This month has been quite different. I wanted to secure our democracy, safeguard our currency and gold reserve, which we have done without much effort. But rumours has it that the PTO group that occupied Australia had Sweden as their first priority. The work Misho and Jock Cranley did last month may have helped us dodge a very nasty bullet. I hope my successors and future presidents and congressmen in this country never relax in the constant struggle against foreign threats to our sovereignity.

Sweden is in a good place. Now is the time for new chapters to be written.

I am getting quite old now and it's been a long time since I had to come out with the big guns blazing, both military-wise but also within the political world. The global alliances are pretty much dead and seem to be running on auto-pilot. Our MPP stack is extremely strong and Sweden has no real enemies in the game anymore (does anyone?).

If there is ever a time for experimenting in eRepublik, that time is now. Everyone is waiting for something to happen and we have very little left to lose in eSweden. With a small population we need to take every chance we get to find new things to explore for our citizens. I certainly hope that my successor can find an opening to initiate a military campaign in April or at least May.

Thank you for the support I have received this month and good luck to those who will keep the engine going this month.

I have absolutely no idea what to do in my future eRepublik career. Perhaps I will try to jump-start my involvement in the alliance world, but it remains to be seen if that world still has use for an old saggy bitch like myself.
