***Political Tension, the Media and The Departure From America***
It's been a while since I've written an article for America, but today I bring you all a subject that you should all seriously consider. After my impeachment, I've been rather quiet and just sat back to watch the political show. Speaking from experience, I can say that things are very stressful, and it gets to most politicians in high office. Believe it or not, politics has a negative effect on the quality of media as well as our citizens.
America's Political Situation
There is no doubt that our political landscape is very stressful, but lets take a look at the reasons why.
Elections: One of our biggest problems is how intense we get during elections. Just this past general election there was flaming accusations of trolling and a general loss of control over emotions. Even I was guilty of this at times even though I did not really get involved with the elections. It is safe to say that a lot of our political tension starts around elections, and such a strong division can be created that when one side loses, the effects on them causes that group to either leave or lurk around in anger.
Public Voice: The public controls the government. In a democracy this seems great, however in this game when a large majority of America is inactive, it can be detrimental. Our size does not help, and here's why. We have such a large amount of citizens that are vocal, and many of them have different views on how politics should be run. Because of this, there are many divisions in the population.
Our Tendency to Argue: To sum up our issues, we are politically weak because we argue way too much. There is so much stress generated over failures in any area. The worst part is that PEACE recognizes this fault in America and exploits it. As I have always mentioned, they have an incredible PR machine. One person I'm sure we all remember, Grakulan fed on all Americans fears and caused a lot of us to argue with ourselves. The inner fighting caused either my political or war issues is what destroys our country and cripples it. Americans get so wrapped up in their own arguments, that nothing actually gets accomplished.
Solutions to the Stress of Politics in America
Some such as myself have discovered ways of fixing the stress issue in politics. You quit. John Jay quit and left American politics, I will also be leaving to join Latvia soon, and thus leaving American politics. This is one simply way to avoid the stress. Another is to simply ignore the arguments, as it's better for personal sanity and it won't cause you and stress in our politics. This of course is a bad move for a political career, just letting arguments and debates going unnoticed. It all comes down to reducing the arguments in America and that can only be achieved through increased maturity and more control over emotions. This task is set in the hands of American politicians, as the atmosphere in American politics is too stressful with those components still in the system.
Political effects on the Media
I have noticed lately that the quality of media has gone down a bit. This happened to me personally because I got sucked into politics by being president that my articles became the same and quite boring. Back when I was young, the media had many great writers with insightful original articles that were entertaining to read. Stuff such as Development of War Tactics and other original articles were in the media, now most of the media has become news reporting with no creative elements to it. In fact a lot of the media has become politics related, and all that is is voicing campaigns, viewpoints on government and stating the facts. Politics is taking over the media, and I'd like to see a revival in creativity in articles.
Those are just a few issues that America can work on.
Farewell to America
As outlined above, the political situation in America as well as our lack of decent media (with the exception of Justin and his podcast) has led me to the conclusion that I will no longer be able to have fun in America. I am now off to Latvia to seek a new community that will hopefully be similar to that of what America had during the days of Nave. I seek a new political landscape where things are not as stressful, and I believe that a new country will be a perfect place to start.
I would like to thank All of America for everything they have given me over the past year. I've known many Americans, and all of them have helped me in their own ways. I would also like to thank the country for voting me to be president of the USA twice, and as ironic as it is, to also thank them for impeaching me. I thank everyone for the experience that I've been able to have it America, the numerous wars ranging from the Canadian war to protecting South Africa or Argentina from Indonesia. America has truly been a great place to live for my past year playing erepublik, and I will always remember the times I've spent here.
I will hang around our forums and the IRC when I can, as I still have close ties to America. I will still manage businesses that I help to run in America. You'll still hear from me from time to time, and one day I may return. and oh yeah, I will eventually guest star on Justin's podcast for an episode or so.
Thank You America,

why the hell a i still subscribed to this?
We Americans are a noisy, and sometimes seemingly overly-emotional people. We value the 1st Amendment so much, that it seems like basically anything is allowed in public discourse. If you look at RL political campaigns in the US, it's not hard to see how this happens in the eUS. Most of us have said things in the heat of the moment that we've regretted. I know I have.
This game and its' personalities can be all consuming. The nature of the internet makes it easy to say unnecessarily harsh things when you've never met the person in RL and aren't looking them in the eye.
Anyway, Sam, good luck in Latvia. As a new nation, they will need lots of help. Lots of vultures will be looking to pick off the new countries, and they'll need all the experienced help they can get.

This is actually a good article, Sam. Voted.
For more creativity. For more maturity.
Let's make this game fun and enjoyable again.
Much luck, Sam. You will be missed.

Great Article Sam.
I shall miss you. This is the stuff of the greats.
The Tale of The Presidency is truly "there and back again"
If you find Nave eUS on Latvia, please let me know. As I may join you.
I'll miss you too justin, I'll hang around USA places for a time, as I still want to be on one of your podcasts as soon as my mic starts working for my laptop.
We miss you Sam!

hmm.
>I have noticed lately that the quality of media has gone down a bit.
I disagree. I just started reading the media after not touching it for months, and I'm pretty happy with it.
>We value the 1st Amendment
Yeah, not everyone does. And we all pity those people. scrabman and Alee Ann
You are a megaloman.
@Emerick
I lol'd
We'll miss you, Sam.
give us one more chance.
Good article. I'm sorry to see you go, but Latvia will be gaining a great asset.
Good luck!
No more fungasim. Good luck Sam
if you are looking a new land, young a vibrant come to eMexico Uncle Sam... we promise not to lynch you.
"that can only be achieved through increased maturity and more control over emotions."
Indeed.
I will miss you Sammy. But, Justin and I will be privileged enough to have you on the show...so I can't wait!!!
thanks for everythign Sam, your fungasm contest got me my Q3 house.
While I am not familiar with your legacy as most others, I'm sure it is a great detriment to eUS that you're leaving. Hopefully your suggestions for improving our eNation can be carried out by other citizens as passionate (or perhaps more passionate) as you. Good luck abroad!
Sam, your just going to the new baltic states to gain control of a country that wont know any better when you rip them off or screw them over and then leave before the scandal hits.
For someone who swore he wanted NOTHING to do with politics, you've so far been unable to keep your word.
I'll await your return to the eUSA after Lativa loses its 1000 gold to you and others whom are greedy.
Good luck Sam, the baltic states are being populated with people of different political views from a number of older countries. Maybe together with them you'll be able to blend the colors of politics to build something for those nations and yourself.
later traitor, if you aren't with us your against us.
Great stuff but maybe you should adapt this into including the recent scandal?
Can I get some U-N-I-T-Y up in this b@tch?
If you don't love America you can get out.
Don't let the door hit ya...
well, it's time to pack mah bags...
I thank everyone for their kind words.
"USA USA USA, oh yeah, I'm gettin' the hell outta here, peace."
lol.
Best of luck over in europe. Things gettin' heated in there.
Sam,
Unfortunately, people often remember 1 or 2 bad things and forget all the good. I will remember that you brought us the concept of war games and the introduction of the Meals on Wheels program and for that I thank you. Latvia will surely benefit from your experience.
Voted and long ago subscribed.

Quality of the Media went down?! Whatchutalkingbout Sam? LoL. Have fun in Latvia!
Kinda sad, when we drive UNCLE SAM out of America...

Good luck Sam. You will be missed by many.
This somehow reminds me of the old story of Russian President Khrushchev, when he was forced to leave his post because of the political tension during cold war.
When he resigned, he left his successor 2 letters and told him that each of them would get him out of trouble once.
Khrushchev resigned and some time passed, finally the day came when his successor faced an impossible situation and was forced to open the first letter. Inside he found Khrushchev`s contact information and he helped to overcome the situation and it all worked out.
Some time later he made yet another crucial mistake and was forced to open the second letter. The letter contained just one sentence: "Write two letters"
Thank you for your dedication Uncle Sam!
