The difference being Mehraan that the CAF is the government army and relies on government funding for all their supplies. Imagine if a TCO Exec decided to close down half the slave pits. That would have the same effect as lowering CAF funding and I'm sure TCO wouldn't take kindly to it. I remember the outrage when a single TCO org went missing.

TCO used to be private, the fact of the matter is, the increasing reliance on government funding means that the government essentially controls TCO to some degree. If a CP decided to stop funding TCO, I seriously doubt they would still be able to operate at the same level. All I'm suggesting is that only a few months ago, government funding was the icing on the cake for TCO.

We're rapidly approaching a crossroads. Either TCO is going to have to accept that they're no longer the devil-may-care, screw-the-government rebel military force they used to be, or they need to start shifting away from government reliance. You can't have it both ways. Either you need the government funds or you don't.

Kilgore, there is no "reliance" on gov't funding in TCO. We do base some of our current operations around the funding but that is simply because we do receive it.

I do not remember TCO ever saying piss off to gov't funding, we would be silly to do so. We do however see it for what it is, a bonus not an entitlement.

Could we operate without it? Definately
Would we be as effective? Of course not. No organisation could lose 5k CAD a week and not be affected but, to borrow a phrase from you, it would be the icing on the cake we would lose. The base operations of TCO would be unaffected.

I can understand how it would appear to an outsider that we rely on the funding but that couldn't be further from the truth. The main people I see complain when a cut in TCO funding is mentioned are outsiders. They all have their reasons, some are friends of TCO and are trying to help us, others, well, maybe they see that next in line after TCO cuts is CAF cuts and are trying to stop it before it comes to that.

Perhaps the another reason could be that they see the benefits of a strong TCO to eCan. Between TCO and CAF we have a large majority of the active players in eCan, many of which would have quit the game if it weren't for our two organisations.
