While this was going to be in the vein of an information article, I think unless you have had your head in the sand, you'd know what's generally going on.
The main news around eAus has been whether another deal with Chile is on the cards.

During my term this wouldn't have been possible.
Chile didn't like me much, or what I was doing.
However, this is NOT my term.
And, for one final time, we are seeking some peace, and the possibly the beginning of something FAR DIFFERENT for eAus's future, if it does come to pass.
As an "old" eAussie with probably a fair bit of prejudice to any occupier and traditionally to our neighbours.. I for one, have found this idea a bit...challenging.
BUT, I CAN SEE WHY THEY ARE TRYING IT. NO ONE CAN ARGUE THAT.
HOWEVER, I appreciate this is not my future we are talking about here. It is OURS. YOURS
So, I'm keeping calm and my mind open, like you should.
I'm trusting in Greg and crew to come back to Senate and ultimately, EVERYONE, for approval.
Why?
Because that's the right thing to do.
Anywhoo, having been away for a few days IRL, you probably know more than I do - but I've been brought across the most recent events...
At the moment, eAus folk are in the pointy end of negotiations.
BUT, I am aware that NO ACTION will be taken without Senate input and approval.
So, keep that in mind, when you see all the stuff around on this issue.
AND, FAR MORE IMPORTANTLY...
In terms of alliances and the like, REMEMBER - that is a matter for a PUBLIC REFERENDUM.
YOU ALL get a say in that.
To this end, I would like to _personally_ remind people to get some perspective on all this.
Irrespectively, you, me, everyone has a say.
You, me, everyone who wants to, will be involved.
So, though I am still of two, three even perhaps four minds on all this, I would like to call for some perspective and some calm. It doesn't help to rip into each other right now.
I've read some of the conspiracy theorists views, and been informed of these either publicly or privately.
To be frank with you, I think some of the people pushing these have their own agenda's.
...and are trying to walk both sides of the fence because they are afraid to come down one way or another.
In the end, though we have the right to agree and disagree how we see fit, in the end I believe Greg is a good person, and has honourable intentions.
In the end, it is worth noting this is probably the last time we will go through this, and keep in mind the alternative will likely mean given the current mix of alignment that we will be in epic fighting soon either way.
So, watch, wait and listen. As soon as more is available it'll be shared.

Seriously though, and with dCP mask on, great article. There is an end game to all this, and I am frustrated at the lack of communication too, but we need to all just relax a bit, have a beer and a smile and calm the fuck down.

Wrong. The Act on alliances state that the CP can go directly to a Referendum of the community. Based on the Speaker's behaviour and some Senator's of late no one would blame the Government for giving the power back to the people - now THAT's the right thing to do.

Be fair Tim, its not just alimilano, its all of ANP. The only people that have apposed this entire plan have been veterans from ANP. Actually, thats not fair, even some veterans from ANP support this plan.
Speaking on behalf of the GGP, our party is not crazy about the whole idea at the moment.
Not saying yes or no to it, but concerned about the lack of public info about what this would mean for us as a nation (including what current allies we'll lose as part of this).

The main point is Ranger that there are too many players in eAUS who think diplomacy is the whole game and the only option. Even a noob know that diplomacy really hasn't gone well over the last few years when our two neighbors hate us and we were tricked into bogus alliances that got us squashed.

@witherd only 1 ANP member is for gvt plan and he is gvt member, many others will disagree and that is main reason why this gvt fear to tell people ALL truth.
Point is Vyrin that this had to come back to senate and the public anyway. I don't like how long it took, but the point was there have BEEN no deals behind closed doors. Just finalising the offer that would come forward.
I note this is up now on forum for all to discuss. Ultimately it affects everyone, and while I have my own opinion on it and will make comment on it as a citizen, the above was intended to ask people to take some perspective on this. We all get a say.

My only beef with the "if you can't beat them, join them" plan is the lack of clear communication from the Govt. Trying to get info from them to the Senate has been like pulling teeth, and getting info to the public has been worse.
I ask the Cabinet for logs and they dither and/or say there aren't any logs to be had. I even have had those in the Foreign Affairs dept tell me one moment that there are too many logs and they would confuse Senate then go and say there aren't any recent logs...
... ... ... I think I need to go buy another gold pack and keep tanking - I agree with binda, something must be horribly wrong.
