[MoHA] Why you should really join the forum!

Day 2,890, 06:36 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Ministerie van Media en Recrui

Dear player,

eRepublik can be played on many levels. You can stay ingame, read and write in the media, in your newsfeed or in your Military Unit’s chat, but you might miss out on a lot. Much is happening outside the game, namely on the national forum and on IRC. This article explains why and how you should really use the forum (but it also explains really quickly where to find IRC).

This article will explain 3 things:
1. How you can get 250 NLG by just registering.
2. How you can use the forum’s portal to chat on IRC without having to download it.
3. How you can use the forum to keep up with everything in just 5 minutes a day.

1. Registration bonus: how to earn 250 NLG by doing nothing
After registering on the forum, you can claim a 100 NLG registration bonus. This bonus is for every Dutch citizen who registered on the forum. The topic can be found in the New Members section, after “Help”. This is a direct link to the topic. Comment there and the Ministry of Home Affairs will give you 100 NLG.

For the next three months, you can do this again every month and you will receive 50 NLG per claim, adding up to 250 NLG in total!

If you go to www.enetherlands.nl, you automatically go to the forum itself. You can switch to the forum’s portal on the left top corner.

2. Using the forum’s portal to chat on IRC
As mentioned in the introduction, a lot happens on the forum as well as on IRC. IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a chat platform that is used by many eRep communities to meet with others. You can download IRC, but if you just want to try it out in your web browser, you can use the forum’s portal. Go there and you see this:

Enter your nick, press “Connect” and voilà! You are on IRC! You automatically go to the channel of the Dutch community (see tab: #eUNL).

3. Basic use of the forum: the three most important tabs
You’ve read all the articles in the media, you’ve liked all your friends newsfeed posts, but you still feel like you’re not really up to date? That’s not so strange, because before a discussion “grows” into the ingame community, it often first sprouts on the forum. In the picture below, three forum tabs are red marked that are the most important to you if you are new to the forum:

1. If you click on “Help”, you will be directed to the thread where you can claim your registration bonus and ask any questions that you may have.
2. If you click on “The government of the Netherlands” or “Law Book”, you can see the current government or read the Dutch law (so you know what you can and cannot do, though it’s mostly common sense).
3. The Congress part is where a lot of fun happens. Here, people give their ideas and debate about them. It is important to know that every eDutch citizen has the right to take part in the discussions in the Congress Debate part, the only things you are not allowed to do if you are not a Congress Member is start a debate and vote on a proposal. But you are most welcome and in fact very much invited to take part in debates.

Only one important forum function has not been explained yet. It applies to all players who are a member of a party. You can join your party’s subforum through the User Panel. Ask for group access there and you will shortly be accepted by the group admin, after which you can browse your own party’s subforum.

We very much hope this article motivated you to register on the Dutch national forum. It’s quickly done and very easy to use, it will keep you up to date and give you 250 NLG! So...

..see you on the forum!
