[MoFA] May Ambassador Reports III

Day 2,009, 15:53 Published in Ireland Ireland by Irish Foreign Ministry

In this article, Ireland and her allies will be given the following interviews:

An Interview with the Canadian MoD
Ambassador: Raven Anarcho
Official: I-Bleed-Blue-93

An Interview with the MoFA of Australia
Ambassador: Raven Anarcho
Official: DraimAlexander

RA: First off, could you tell us a little about yourself, and how long you've been involved in Canada's government.

I: I have been the Minister of Defense in eCanada for 4 consecutive terms now, with some but not much involvement in our government before that, except for a congress term or two.

RA: Canada has been at war with Spain for a while now. Are there any recent breakthroughs militarily or diplomatically? Where does Canada intend to take the war from here?

I: Diplomacy has been fairly limited with eSpain due to their apparently oppressive nature and seemingly genuine hate towards us. Militarily however we are always fighting for our freedom with the help of our great allies and friends all over the world. We will be free.

RA: How has Canada settled into Asgard after becoming an official member?

I: Canada has settled in quite nicely in my opinion. With changes always being made and work always needing to be done we haven't stopped working with our allies to make Asgard better and better with the goal of a brighter future in mind.

RA: Do you see any hope for Ireland in Asgard, should the people vote to join that is? What is the feel from Asgard HQ on the subject?

I: In my PERSONAL opinion (not necessarily reflecting the opinion of anyone else in Asgard HQ or anywhere necessarily) I would love to see Ireland in Asgard. Ireland is in the region, they are a great nation, and a selfless ally. Beyond that I would like to say that there are many people in Ireland that I call my friends and after fighting with them against common enemies I can gladly call them my allies.

RA: Where does Asgard fit in with the other alliances at the moment? (NaN, TWO, CoT)

I: TWO nations have occupied and repeatedly been aggressive towards members of Asgard as well as smaller nations around the world. We don't like that.
As for the other alliances, they are varying depending on the nation, therefore I will refrain from addressing them.

RA: How do Canadians as a group currently feel about Ireland?

I: From what I am aware of most Canadians, Ireland is a close friend and a valued ally. We have fought many a war side by side and I hope our relations continue to remain positive far into the future.

RA: Thanks so much for your time, and best of luck kicking the Spanish out of your lands. o7

I: Thanks Raven, best of luck kicking out your local TWO menace.

RA: First off, How about a little bit about yourself?

DA: I'm a real life american living in San Francisco,CA who has been an eAussie since I started on erep (originally because australian prime time is better suited for my bad sleep schedule, later because I made a lot of friends). In Australia I started off like most do with a bit of two clicking but liked the more community aspect and so quickly found our forums and IRC channels and got involved in politics (after a couple failed congress bids). I Spent a couple months as a normal congressmen (what we call Senate) before ramping up my activity in the military first as the Deputy Marshall for the Australian Defense Force and then as MoD and later the Marshall. Most of that was while I was still a congressmen and after I finished a term and a half as MoD I was elected as the Speaker (leader) for the Senate twice. It was at that point that I decided to run for CP, won, and during that term started the NaN alliance with Grimstone the CP from South Africa.

The past two months I've acted as both the MoFA for Australia and one of the Consuls (leaders) of the alliance helping to see it expand and learn from it's mistakes. I stepped down from the leadership of the ADF mostly because I was not able to give it the time it deserved but still help out especially with supplies.

RA: Being that you are an official in NaN, what exactly were the reasons/events leading up to the formation of the alliance?

DA: Some of our articles around that time say it really well so I won't repeat it all but in general South Africa and Australia have been friends for a very long time. We had both tried to join other alliances (and at times have) but had grown increasingly disillusioned and found that none of the current alliances really wanted us. We had also, traditionally, been neutral where possible (obviously at times it wasn't) and so wanted a way to do that.

You can find some nicer prose about it in some of my articles from back then:

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/nan-the-new-alliance-is-formed-2232434/1/20 (The official AUS announcement, SA made a copy on their side as well).

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-dfa-nan-and-why-it-039-s-important-2240515/1/20 - A piece I wrote a bit later about the importance of NaN.

RA: As many wander with every alliance in the game, does NaN have a positive stance with either CoT or TWO, or would they when/if the two alliances collide?

DA: This is a tough answer to be honest and one that isn't easy. All of our members have traditionally had friendships with other countries that are in CoT,TWO and the former EDEN and so any 'pro/anti' statement can be tough. I would, personally, say that we probably lean towards TWO more because of the occupation that many CoT countries have done on NaN Members (especially SA/Australia but also some of our middle east members for example with Bulgaria). That’s only how I feel personally though, and in the end we want to stay neutral but are still figuring out what our role would be in the coming storm.

RA: How does NaN stand with Asgard?

DA: NaN has traditionally so far tended to do fairly well with Asgard. The idea for a small alliance generally came from them and we respect that immensely. Australia itself has had some close ties to them before, especially Canada. There has been some talk about a mutual agreement between the alliances but we're not at that stage yet. In the end, our alliance comes first.

RA: How do you think most Australians feel about Ireland and what is the overall alliance mentality regarding Ireland as a potential member?

DA: I think Australians generally have good feelings towards Ireland, I know we've been friends for a long time and continue to see them as such. We had hoped that Ireland would join us for the original creation of NaN and there are some who are a little frustrated by the fact that they didn't, however even those members are happy to see them thinking of it again and the general mood I've received has all been positive.

RA: Lastly, Where does Australia and NaN plan on going from here? Any goals in particular?

DA: My biggest goal is to increase the activity and communication within the alliance focusing on coordinated military help and a focus on our primary goal: The defense of our nations (especially trying to ensure congress). We've had some great success when we pull together and our first full HQ will be announced Wednesday evening. I hope that we will be able to continue from there and only grow stronger.

We don't want to grow mindlessly but we are also looking for potential candidate members, especially medium to medium large countries that don't want to side with one fo the 'big two' right now. I think that could be beneficial to all sides and I know a couple countries are interested.

Do you want to get involved in Foreign Affairs? Help your country? Meet new players from around the world? We are still looking for more talent in the Irish Ambassador Program. We request that anyone interested pm Raven Anarcho, who is currently heading the program. Although many nation positions are being filled up, there are still many more available. We look forward to working with you this term!
