[MoFA] Alliance Report

MoFA report of alliances

Greetings, people of eDenmark and Germark.

The eWorld is once again going through a phase, where Alliances are formed. When new alliances are born, new enemies are also born. This report sheds some analysis about recent events, and focuses on what this all means for Germark.

Asteria

Most important news is that new Alliance is formed – Asteria. Asteria consists, at the time being, of Argentina, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia. This means that based on country power 3 out of 5 strongest countries, and 2 empires out of 3, would be together. This has upsides and downsides. On the paper Asteria is terrifyingly strong military force that basically forces Poland and USA together to have even some chance. Small countries will flock around either side, depending on several matters. Some possibilities are shown in in this article. France, ROC and Thailand are mentioned as the next ones to join. Portugal is mentioned also but there seems to be some confusion about their status in the alliance.

Negative side in Asteria’s roster is of course also the power. Serbia, Hungary and Romania have all been at some point centers of Alliances, and the history of these alliances is more than colorful. Big egoes, short-tempered people and internal power struggles are more than familiar to these nations. As always, it will remain unseen whether the importance of damage overcomes internal difficulties.

Asteria and Germark

Germark is at the moment surrounded by Poland. Poland being outside of Asteria makes it likely for Serbia, Romania, Slovenia, Argentina, Greece and Hungary to start coming at our direction. They all are around Poland, which implies very difficult times for Poland. In the end it will depend on how much Poland will be able to resist Asteria. If Poland is not able to form strong Alliance of its own and gets torn apart quickly, Germark might be a natural continuum. On the other hand, if Germark joined Asteria, we would be facing ePoland. With all Asteria coming at ePoland, we might be able to make it, but in the long run provocating ePoland might not be wise for us.

Asgard

Asgard is our northern neighbor, and their decisions will affect Germark. Currently Asgard members are having same furious discussions as are the rest countries outside Asteria: eSerbia or ePoland? Former president of eFinland stated that in practice eFinland and Asgard are forced to be pro-Serbia. However, he also mentioned that nothing is yet decided, and that Asgard still has doors open to all directions. For example USA and Croatia will affect their decisions. Asgard is trying to set up their own Military Unit for whole alliance, but the congress of eFinland, has been making it difficult. At the same time Asgard HQ posted somewhat surprisingly trollish article about eLithuania. This means that Asgard will be tangled with Balts in the future, too.

Asgard and Germark

If Asgard becomes friends with Asteria, and Germark goes with Poland, we will most likely face war. Asgard is weak, but local alliance which from time to time manages to achieve unexpected results. They are however burdened by internal politics (of eFinland) and several enemies at the same time. With ePoland Germark would most likely be able to overpower Asgard, if they were battling UK and eLithuania (and maybe other balts too). Asterias actions would however again set the scale. Germark itself is also weak military-wise, but strategically we can be of great use. We can coordinate attacks as Germany, Denmark and Germark.

“Small nations Alliance”

Besides Asteria and ePolish-alliance there has been some inquiries about forming an alliance of small nations. This might seem lucrative for less experienced players. The idea is that together many small countries could defeat a big country. While this is true in theory and in one battle and against only ePoland or eSerbia, it is false in practice, in most of the battles and against Asteria and the allies of ePoland.
Alliances like Asgard can survive, if they don’t put that much value for independency of their members. Asgard is also a local alliance. Opposed to an alliance of random small nations from all-over Asgard has strengths that close relationships bring.

It is the opinion of the authors, that wisest move for small nations is to be with a bigger alliance. Some may calculate information from eGov and deduct that small could survive, but this is misleading. In the end a small nation doesn’t have to be THE priority of an alliance, when with efficient MPP’s they will always get damage. The amount of damage depends on many variables, like diplomatics, current battles and past history between the countries, but very often the spill-over damage is there.

Conclusion

Germark will decide its direction in the near future. Many things are open and might change. This article is mostly speculation, but hopefully gives some information about what's going on in the eWorld. Thank you for reading!

Edit:
eCanada has published similar article from their perspective, which might be of interest.
