[MoFA] A history of our friends and an update!

Day 2,056, 20:20 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Thomas765

Hello there o/
Unfortunately, I do not yet have the keys to the Foreign Office building in Whitehall, so I will instead broadcast from the streets of London. The silly bureaucrats appear to have lost the paperwork required for me to enter the Foreign Office properly, so I'll have to make do! It's outrageous!

So, urr, yes, moving on with the article... I'm going to detail the history of our relationship with all our allies over the last couple of years..

Today's world map with regards to our own allies looks completely different as the one from two years ago.

This year certainly has been a rollercoaster of a year. We have become friendly with several nations whom were previously our enemies for the better part of four years. What drove the change? I would go as far as to say boredom and shifting power within nations that brought old enemies closer together. This appears to be a running theme with friendships being formed in the last couple of years but the presence of Non-Aggression Pacts (NAPs) appear to be sparking up several friendships, as is the case in the Eastern Europe bloc. The Hungarian NAP with Romania and Ukraine, for example, opened up opportunities for Hungary's allies to open up dialogue with the latter two countries without much hindrance to relations with Hungary.

Stagnation could also be a key factor here. Romania's withdrawal from EDEN marked the start of the blocks of EDEN tumbling over, leading to its final demise on the 6th of May of this year.

The World is Ours

This is the alliance that we are a member of. The alliance was founded on the 2nd of December, 2012 between six allied nations - Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom. Since then, the alliance has expanded from six members to nineteen (19) members, with a second division for smaller members having been added.

The membership of TWO includes:
- Australia, Austria, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, New Zealand, Republic of China (Taiwan), Slovakia, Thailand and Venezuela are all members of ACT, which is the division of TWO for smaller nations.
- Greece, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom as full members of TWO.

In addition to these, there are several nations that are generally pro-TWO, which means they would support TWO membership, TWO's goals or would be interested in help from TWO. These nations include Argentina, Colombia and Romania, with whom we have a formal, in-game alliance with each.

The world was being shaken by the concept of a new idea. The friendship between the USA and Brazil (BrUSA) was undeniably strong, however there was a desire for both of them to form a new relationship with ONE's strong friendship, Spain and Poland (Spoland). With ONE, our old alliance, having collapsed, the opened up new opportunities for our friends to try out.

By July 2012, Terra was on its way out. EDEN was still going strong. CoT had been newly formed a month prior. ONE had disbanded but had continued on in the form of an agreement known as the "Fellowship". An alliance known as CTRL was in the process of being formed. The Alliance of Baltic Countries (ABC) had existed. July and August of that year had been a significant month for us as it was this month where we lost Sweden as allies but gained Brazil as friends.

I have included April 2011 as this was a rather bizarre period of our history. We were a member of the alliance known as Terra and as such, we had become friendly with the USA for the first time since 2009. However, in keeping such a relationship, we would be risking our long established relations with Hungary, Serbia and Slovenia, who had been our allies for quite a long time before. April 2011 marked the transition from our old alliance, Phoenix to our new alliance which was to have been ONE and eventually TWO. This was the last month that we were allied with our ex-Phoenix partners of Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal and Russia and the only month in a four year history that we have had formal, positive relations with the USA. This all ended this month as a result of our refusal to stop invading Ireland, an EDEN member. We soon left.

It should be noted that neither Spain nor Poland appear on this. We were to have gradually developed our relationship with Poland over the summer and then to have our first MPP in July 2011.

TWO elects new HQ

It seems TWO elections are not without controversy these days. However, at any rate, our alliance has a new HQ!

Secretary General: Akashapeke (Spain)
Secretary of Foreign Affairs: Martuxx (Lithuania)
Supreme Commander: Pierre Dzoncy (Poland)

Like I said, the elections are not without controversy. Our Slovenian friends have seen the elections as being insulting and have decided to go public about their grievances towards the election that occurred yesterday. The article can be read here. As of the 8th of July at 4 am, there has not been a direct response from the Serbian government about some of accusations made. The other candidates in the election were mittekemuis from the United Kingdom and SmoothZiga from Slovenia, who ran for Secretary General and Secretary of Foreign Affairs respectively.

Fin.
