[MoD] Minister's Report #1

Day 3,095, 17:07 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Ministry of Defence

As part of my term as MoD I thought I would try and get out a few regular reports to update you all on what we have been getting up to, how our projects are coming along and offer my thoughts regarding the resource wars event.

Tank Fund

The tank fund is now up and running, offering subsidised tanks for sale to eUK fighters, typically 15-25% below the market rate. The maximum purchase is 750 tanks a day.

If you would like to buy some tanks, send me a PM.

You can see the rate and the amount of tanks in the stockpile on this page of the MoD Spreadsheet.

If you would like to donate weapons/cc to the tank fund to help sustain it with minimal impact on the taxpayer, please send donations to me.

Communication with Fighters

There are now a number of fully operational methods by which orders are being communicated to fighters- it is especially important in the times that we are trying to win a resource. These are our current methods of communicating orders, in the order that they are updated when orders change:

-The MoD Spreadsheet

-The SAS PMs: Top 20 fighters from each division, to be updated tomorrow

-MU Commander PM

-British Armed Forces Shout Feed

-Battle Orders Article

Updates and thoughts on the Resource Wars

The Resource Wars event is I think the most poorly designed and ill-thought out event I have ever seen the admins do. It is chaotic and dependent an awful lot on luck; much to our frustration. Since I became MoD we have tried for Saltpeter twice, Oil, Iron, Limestone, Deer and Grain all without success. Sometimes we have missed out by seconds as other pipped us to the post, others we have narrowly overshot by a handful of points. It’s frustrating; especially when we go and win bonuses like sand and a second fish (all hail our fish overlords etc etc) completely by accident. It’s frustrating, but we’ll keep trying. Our next attempt will be in the late afternoon/early evening tomorrow, so keep an eye out for instructions. We will be issuing supplies on #MoD.

The biggest frustration for me has been our continuing lack of effective damage co-ordination, and not being able to effectively move our damage around at the speed required when we are right up against the wire trying to get a resource. I can only point at the disparate way our damage is spread around, and the reluctance of eUK fighters to throw in their lot with the Armed Forces.

When the idea of the BAF was first pushed by myself and others, a few were of the view that there wasn’t really an issue with the eUK’s damage direction, that the Armed Forces were a solution to a non-existent. This event says otherwise. The biggest problem we face is getting more fighters fighting at the times we need and directing that damage to where it is needed. The problems we have in this area are exacerbated ten fold by the Resource Wars.

Being able to communicate with all the eUK’s key fighters in one shout feed would make a big difference to the speed we can get messages out. Currently, I have to put messages in five different places whenever we have a division that needs pushing, or we need to change which battles and divisons need losing. It takes precious time away from watching battles, and then we are relying on five different commanders to relay the instructions to their fighters.

That’s all for now. If you have any comments, queries or complaints, let me know.

Boaty,
Minister of Defence
