Nieuw in het spel en grote ambities? Lees de artikelen met praktische do’s en don’ts die het Ministerie van Coaching uitbrengt over alle onderwerpen die nieuwe spelers aandragen. Na de artikelen met economische en militaire tips, nu het derde onderwerp: de politiek. Heb je politieke ambities, wil je weten wat de overheid doet?



In dit eerste artikel (van drie): waarom zou je eigenlijk bij een politieke partij gaan en bij welke dan?

Allereerst: een politieke partij is niet meer en niet minder dan een groep mensen die meer uit het spel wil halen - door samen actief na te denken over wat slim is en wat niet slim is voor ons land. Hoe maken we ons land internationaal sterk, hoe helpen we spelers, hoe spelen we handig in op nieuwe uitdagingen door veranderingen in het spel? Door samen met ervaren spelers te debatteren leer je niet alleen je medespelers beter kennen, maar krijg je ook meer inzicht in spelhistorie en game mechanics.



En hier heb je gewoon een partij voor nodig:
- Je kunt alleen in congres komen als kandidaat voor een van de 5 grootste partijen
- Als landspresident moet je kandidaat worden gesteld door de president van je politieke partij.
- Je hebt medestanders nodig om je ideeën te verwezenlijken en dat wordt heel lastig als je geen politieke partij achter je hebt.

Lid worden van een partij
Je kunt vanaf level 13 bij een politieke partij gaan.Vanaf level 14 mag je stemmen. Vanaf level 16 je eigen politieke partij beginnen, maar dat kost 40 goud en je moet al lid zijn geweest van een partij. Dus eerst maar gewoon een partij joinen. De vraag is: welke? Soms liggen partijvisies ver uit elkaar, soms nauwelijks. Eigenlijk gaat het er vooral om of je je thuis voelt in de cultuur.

Eigen partijforum en IRC-kanaal
Twijfel je welke partij, kijk dan naar de debatten op ons nationale forum enetherlands.nl met welke spelers je het vaak eens bent en van welke partij ze zijn. Elke partij heeft op forum een openbaar gedeelte (maar daar word je niet veel wijzer van). De gesloten partijfora zie je alleen als je ingame lid bent geworden en toegang hebt tot de gebruikersgroep. Tip: bezoek ook eens de IRC-kanalen van de partijen. Of neem contact op met de partij presidenten, die je vindt als je klikt op de partijen op de ingame partijenpagina.

Opstap voor je politieke carriere
Ben je eenmaal lid van een partij, dan kun je op het partijforum vragen stellen en ideeën opperen, om die samen uit te werken tot bijvoorbeeld een voorstel voor congres. Je denkt samen na over de partijstandpunten, de voors en tegens en welke kant je op wilt. Samen probeer je ook nieuwe leden te werven en zoveel mogelijk congreszetels te verwerven. Sommige partijen hebben naast een partij president ook andere rollen, zoals vice pp, campaign manager, recruiter of communications manager. Daar heb je later veel aan in je verdere politieke carriere!

Nog een paar do's en don'ts die je kunnen helpen in je politieke carrière:

1. Zorg dat je veel meeleest met debatten en probeert de visie van verschillende partijen te volgen.

2. Denk niet te snel dat een positie te hoog gegrepen is: er zijn ‘stageplekken’ op alle ministeries

3. Probeer in debatten niet te snel in de verdediging te schieten, hoe lastig ook soms...

4. Zolang je toon respectvol is, bestaan er geen domme vragen. Vraag!

5. Door artikelen te helpen vertalen (voor je partij of de regering) leer je ook heel veel!

1. lees en registreer je op ons forum enetherlands.nl waar je o.a. vragen kunt achterlaten, een registratiebonus van 250 NLG kunt aanvragen en gratis spullen kunt krijgen van oudere spelers!
2. kom naar de IRC (weet je niet hoe: lees dan dit artikel!) waar je op het kanaal #coachingNL kunt chatten en live al je vragen kunt stellen
3. verdiep je in de uitgebreide wiki-pagina’s die op alle aspecten van het spel ingaan.

New to the game and great ambitions? Do read the articles with practicle do’s and don’ts that the Ministery of Coaching will publish on issues brought up by other new players. After the series of articles on economic and military advice, now the third module: politics. Do you have political ambitions, do you want to know what the government is doing?



In this first article (of three): why would you actually join a political party and which one to choose?

First of all: a political party is nothing more or less than a group of people who want to get more out of the game - by actively discussing together what is smart and what isn’t smart for our country. How could we make our country strong internationally, how can we help players, how can we respond to new challenges by ingame changes? Through debating with experienced players you do not only get to know your fellow players, but you also get more insight in game history and game mechanics.



And this is what you simply need a party for:
- You can only get in Congress as a candidate for one of the five largest parties
- A country president needs to be candidated by the the president of his or her political party.
- You need allies to achieve your ideas and that’s very difficult if you have no political party behind you.

Join a party
You may join a political party when you reach level 13.When you reach level 14 you’re allowed to vote. From level 16 on you can start your own political party, but that costs 40 gold and you must have been member of a party before. So first just join a party. The question is: which one? Sometimes the party visions lay far apart, sometimes they’re barely different. Actually, the primary concern is whether you feel at home in the culture.

Own party forum and IRC channel
Are you in doubt which party to join, read up on the debates on our national forum enetherlands.nl to see with whom you mostly agree and which party they are from. Every party does have a public area on our forum (but this is not really giving you a lot of intel). The private party fora are only visible if you have become a member ingame and have been given access to the usergroup. One tip: visit the IRC-channels of the parties. Or contact the party presidents, thorugh clicking on the party logo’s on the party page ingame.

Step up for your political career
Once you have become member of a party, you can ask questions on your party forum and come up with new ideas, so you can work them out for instance into a congress proposal. You can discuss where you stand as a party and what your main issues are, pros and cons and which is the way to go in your opinion. Together you can try to recruit new party members and win as many congress seats as possible. Some parties have other official roles in the team besides party president, such as vice pp, campaign manager, recruiter or communications manager. This is a great way to build up experience for your future political career!

A few do's and don'ts that can help your political career:

1. Make sure you read up on all debates and try to understand the different visions of all parties.

2. Don’t think a position is too ‘high’: we have ‘learning spots’ in all ministries

3. While debating, try to avoid the ‘defense mode’, as hard as it may be sometimes...

4. As long as your tone is respectful, there is no such thing as stupid questions. Ask!

5. By helping with the translation of articles (for your party of government) you also learn a lot!
