[MC]I can't say goodbye to our allies.

Day 1,994, 08:56 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Michael Crookes

Hello eWorld!

As many of you know, we in the eUK were recently attacked and wiped by Argentina in an airstrike. During the initial attacks I was fortunate enough to be among the team supplying our allies, and let me tell you, the majority of those who fought for us were from CoT countries(although it should be mentioned that Spain were also very highly represented). Of course, there were many reasons for that; timezones were a major factor, as was the campaign Poland and Serbia were fighting in Turkey.

For about 2 weeks we were thoroughly beaten in pretty well every battle we fought, even failing to fight off Ireland. However, after that time finished, TWO countries really began to rally around us and fight for us and eventually we managed to clear the Argentinians from our land entirely and even invade Ireland.

Now, as I am sure everyone is aware, the eWorld is currently going through a major alliance shift as EDEN breaks up and the new battle lines are drawn. As such, every country is required to clarify where it stands and who it will support in the coming months; new friends will be made, and old friends forgotten. But where does the eUK lie?

The eUK has pretty well entirely followed the demands set out to us by TWO HQ, it really is that simple. In recent days we have signed an MPP with Romania and we have been seeing CoT countries slip down, and eventually off our priorities list. This is probably not surprising, considering how heavily involved senior eUK figures are in TWO HQ.

From a military point of view, the steps made by the eUK are entirely sensible: We have signed a new alliance with a strong country, we have supported our allies in TWO and we have set ourselves up to be in what will likely continue to be the dominant alliance in the eWorld. In fact, if I was a member of TWO HQ, I would probably have urged the eUK to take these very steps. However, I am not in TWO HQ, and these decisions do not sit well with me.

You see, by following this line, we are effectively cutting all support to many of the countries which gave us huge support during the Argentinian invasion. It astounds me that the country at large is so quick to forget about the Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Bulgaria, Paraguay etc. Less than a month ago we were calling these people brothers in arms, now we are preparing to fight against them.

remember this?

Many readers of this article may well consider this process as a sign of our commitment to our TWO allies more than an abandoning of our former allies. However, it is my belief that that argument holds very little water. Let’s be clear, there was very little need for this current shift in the alliances from our perspective. CoTWO had things pretty good, and yet TWO HQ began planning to sign alliances with Romania. In short: How does this alliance shift, which was caused by TWO benefit even our core members?

So what?

When the Argentinians attacked us, I was overwhelmed by the support we got from CoT countries, especially those in South America. I wrote a few articles which were published in some countries asking for support. I ended that article with a challenge: The eUK is calling for help: will you answer? They did.

I made myself a promise that when these countries needed my support, I would give them every ounce of my effort. However, now I see that the eUK is aligning itself with Columbia (one of the countries in the same alliance as Argentina when they attacked us). Furthermore, the signs are clear for all to see that within a few months Argentina will be (at the very least) a TWO aligned country.

All of these thoughts have been going round my head for a while now, and I have come back to the same thought over and over again. It is not a viable option for me to remain in the eUK and support those who I said I would support. That means that one way or another a decision must be made, and the tone of this article has probably suggested to many of you the decision which I have taken.

At the end of the day the decision is a very simple one. I gave my word to our allies that I would support them. I did not say “I will support you as long as you are on my side” and I didn’t say that because I didn’t mean it. If I only fought for them when it suited me, then in truth, I am only fighting for my own interests.

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that I am planning to move to eChile in the next few days. I have made many friends in the eUK, and I have immensely appreciated the love that I have been shown while I was here. The eUK really has become a place that is very close to my heart even in spite of all the internal feuds etc. I am by no means closing the door on the eUK, I may well be back, but at the moment, it is the wrong place for me.

Of course, my logic works two ways, and when the eUK needs support, I will answer the cry with everything I am able to give. That is regardless of the alliance my country is in. That is because you, my friends, really do mean more to me than any mechanic this game has.

Hail Friendship o7

Stay safe and play hard!
