[Legion] Announcing, Legion 2.0

Greetings once more, Britain.

Today, I am pleased to announce the culmination of yet more hard work, dedication, sums and thoughts from your friendly ESO think tank. Our thought process with Legion has been a joy to behold. Our goals were simple. How do we make this better. How can we give military units a real purpose, and offer something different, something worth shouting about.

In short, please allow me to introduce to you what we have dubbed "Legion 2.0." I will outline the changes based on how they will apply to members. Each section will have a tl;dr at the top, with explanations on how this will help members, how this will be funded, and how we believe we have made it sustainable.









Social Benefits

- Constant updates and explanations of gameplay
- Quick and helpful answers to any problems
- Daily orders and newspaper updates
- Regular competitions and daily events to promote activity

The first, and in my opinion, most important update we have installed into Legion "2.0" is the daily placeholder article. It will have the same layout, with "standing information" such as supply levels, links to jobs and information about what Legion can bring to your eLife.

We will also have daily "features" ranging from interviews with prominent eRepublik players, tutorials and guides, and of course, warfare updates. These will be written by ESO and Legion members to begin with, and will then expand to allow anyone to offer their support and content.

Our competitions will be based around what any Legion member can achieve, and will vary in their content. Some will be purely for Legion members who work in ESO companies, some will be for any Legion or ESO member, and some will be open to any UK citizen. This will be clearly stated and rigorously enforced, to ensure Legion supplies are never wasted.

- 1000 Wellness of food for all members of the Legion military unit
- No hassle supplying procedure
- Freedom to use supplies as, when, where and how you deem fit
- Regular "addendum" missions to enhance the eRepublik experience


Of course, a military unit should offer military progression to its members. This is why, effective since 3/10/11, all members who take an ESO company job will be supplied with 10 Q5 weapons per day. Whilst we have up until now not competed with the official military channels, its simply unfair for us to continue to under-supply in our current system of subsidised production. As well as that, we have introduced claimable benefits, where members are encouraged, and then rewarded, for engaging in activities to help themselves, or their country. Every time a member manages one of the following, he/she will be rewarded with 5 Q5 weapons:

- Increase of military rank
- Gaining 250 strength
- Joining the eUK Forums
- Register on the eUK IRC Channels
- Work 7 days in a row
- Purchase a company (max once per day)
- Invite a new recruit to Legion
- Ask for help in the MU feed (max once per day)
- Run for congress (weapons per attempt)
- Volunteer in a UK ministry (weapons per every week of service)

We will, of course, be adding and amending reward schemes as time goes on, to ensure people are rewarded for their efforts, and continue to be encouraged and stimulated.



Economic Benefits

- Free companies for all Legion military unit members


ESO currently lets its members sell their supplies for GBP, to spend however they wish. We will continue to do this, and also support any player who wishes to increase their income. To do this, we will roll out a generous grant scheme, with all MU members being given GBP to purchase companies. These companies will not only help members increase their income, damage or enjoyment of eRepublik, they'll also help the UK. More companies, means more goods. More goods, means that our MU members will be helping competition in the UK markets: be they goods or jobs.

The grants will be available for all members who fall under "tier 3" in the below explanation, however, Legion is also rolling out an income redistribution scheme. This will ensure that all members, new, old, relatively well off or unbelievably poor will benefit from the generosity, experience and good will Legion can provide;

Tier 1

These are players who have enough companies to fight, train and expand their companies using only their own daily income from selling goods. These players will support "Tier 2" players by giving them the daily income of their companies to purchase new companies until they have enough income to fight their full daily wellness, train with gold, and build more companies. Tier 1 players are the only net contributors to the income redistribution. Signing into Tier 1 is completely voluntary, and no Legion member will be expected to give away their wealth if they do not wish to.


Tier 2

These players have some companies and income, but not enough to fight their full amount of daily wellness, buy more companies or use the strength boosters regularly. These players will be funded by the "Tier 1" individuals until they have enough daily income to be considered Tier 1. In short, Legion will help ensure players can be fully self sufficient at the bare minimum.


Tier 3

These players are those who have little income from companies. They will be given GBP from a centrally administered scheme, until they have enough companies to fight their full amount of wellness every day. At this point, they will be "Tier 2", and become funded by the "Tier 1" players.


In short, our income redistribution will take from the rich, and ensure that in the long run, everyone is either self sufficient, or en route to self sufficiency, at no cost to the UK tax payer. Awesome, right?.
