[KS4PP] - Building America's Avant-Garde

Day 2,881, 11:04 Published in USA USA by Kevin Sheridan

I my opening article I talked about my aims in broad strokes. Here's a much more detailed program in the form of 22 propositions for your consideration. All of these are just a begining, we'll be exploring them together, killing some and adding others along the way.

See anything you like? PM me about getting involved.

See anything you don't like or understand, Think something is missing? Tell me about it here or in my forum Q&A thread.

Think this is way too ambitious? Ofc it is!!, this is the Socialist Freedom Party, let's see how far we can go in one term. Items will only become reality if members find them interesting, fun, rewarding and worth working for.

Speaking of getting involved. As expected, I didn't get nearly as many PMs as I want. Time for plan B, check your inboxes.

Party Organization

1. The Revolutionary Committee – one of the cooler features of SFP is the openness of its leadership body. Anyone can request to be on the RC. I want to try taking this great democratic feature one step further. Currently, only 5-9 of the members are voting members. I want all of the RC to have a vote. Will I push for a constitutional change? Probably not. I will simply not proceed with any initiative which doesn’t win a majority, even if it gets a majority with the "constitutional" voting members. This will make for a nice test run I think.

2. Department Structure – I want SFP to have a "shadow" government. Meaning, I want our structure to reflect the national one. Why? First, I want to add a whole new department, an international one. Second, I want to specifically prepare party members to influence all spheres of national politics. Third, I want us to be an alternative, shadow governments scream alternative.

Thinking eSocialism

3. We have a lot of ideological refinement to do, especially in light of our new T5 status. We'll have political discussions about goals and aims and principles on a bi-weekly basis. Our Committee of correspondence will try codifying the results of these discussions into concrete political statements.

4. Whenever our congressional delegation faces a new issue in congress, as long as it is public, we'll post about it in the party feed and get the opinion of our general membership. This will be parallel to the congressional discussion phase. This will not end with a "vote", the caucus is autonomous to decide its policy.

Internationalism

5. The eUS community as a whole is pretty isolationist and the entire game is in decline atm, so I don't presume to set up some sort of new Comintern just now. I want to start from the basics, reaching out to likeminded parties and MUs, hosting them on our forums, hearing their angle on this game and possibly generating some humble cooperative ventures. BC will be instrumental in this, I hope. I have a very ambitious endgame here, but it will take a lot of work and we won't see the major fruits this PP term, we’ll be sowing seeds and having fun.

Armed Struggle

6. I see Bear Cavalry is the exclusive, indivisible, armed wing of the SFP, instrumental in its quest for global justice, equality, freedom and fun. Sure, just as the Socialist party faces the challenges of the T5 era, its armed wing isn't exempt from the same dilemmas. We'll tackle these one by one.

7. I enjoyed the "Burning Base" event, I think plato hit it right this time, at least concept-wise. Although BC is an autonomous entity I will strive to work with its commander to boost recruitment, offer better, improved schemes for DIV1 fighters, set up Joint Strikes and FF medal hunts and overall continue building its reputation as an avant-garde military unit, unique in the American landscape. I feel going into too many details is encroaching on the Commander's authority, but this is very high on my priority list.

Congressional Activity

8. General - We look to co- operating with all non PTO parties, T5 and non T5, in making the country a better place. However, I look favorably upon the prospect of seeing the BSP back in the T5. That is all.

9. I want to see us bringing a richer platform to the electorate and promoting a plethora of issues when in Congress. I'd like for specific congress members to have their specific fields of speciality. (see the shadow principle)

10. Whip- I wish to empower the position of the whip, making it less of a technical position and more of a leadership position, in charge of synchronizing and coordinating our congressional initiatives

Welfare Programs

Actually, we have this area pretty well covered; I have some ideas on some tweaks, but nothing major. My main task here will be putting all of them under a singular department (see above) and making them more accessible via some sort of unified web platform.

Community and Young Leadership

This is a tough cookie, always on top of every PP (and CP) platform, seldom does one has any innovative ideas on how to actually do it in today's game climate.

11. Two clicker Friendliness - I want the party feed to be the default medium. Every discussion on public party matters, including congressional issues, must have a presence on the party feed. Don't get me wrong, I love forums, they allow for a richer, more in-depth discourse. But I believe the two can co-exist. Let's try.

12. Games - Sure, this is a must, I'll try putting together at least 3 of these during the term, at least one for every platform (IRC, forum, ingame). I can't promise I'll invent the wheel here, but I learned a few things along the way and with the right help it’ll be cool. What I do want to do is open these events for anyone who wants to join, Americans and non-Americans. I want to show off our community and give a lesson in inclusiveness.

13. Writer's Guild – another SFP epic feature, only thing I can think of regarding this is to make it a bit more accessible for new members.. otherwise it's great just the way it is.

14. New Blood- work tirelessly and actively to getting newer people involved. I won't be the first and won't be the last, but it's still worth mentioning.

15. Political Academy – We need to better educate our future leaders, on all policy issues facing the eUS, So they can have a faster, more significant impact in congress, in the national executive, and on the community as a whole. I want richer articles, not the regular noob-oriented stuff, and maybe a small "university" of our own, regarding war mechanics, foreign affairs, economy and more….

Communication

16. SFPOM - We have the best party media program in the eUSA, no dramatic change is necessary.

17. PP Articles- I think those are very important, I intend to put out one every week.

18. Mass Messaging – I have the tool and am not afraid to use it to augment the media module. Jude's rate of MMs seems a reasonable benchmark.

Recruitment and Retention

Hopefully, a rise in numbers and a good retention ratio will be the sum of all of our activities. But a few direct measures are necessary.

19. Messaging all new born Citizens – Sure, plenty are multis, a lot will simply log out after the first day, never to return. Doesn't matter though, all will receive welcoming messages encouraging them to join SFP and BC.

20. A campaign aimed at recruiting nonaffiliated citizens, playing on our two-clicker friendliness

21. Welcoming Committee- We need to reach out to new party members. A onetime handshake isn't enough, I want to make sure they are given the opportunity to take what we have to offer, and if they don't, I want to know why.

Finances

22. I have some crazy ideas about making our money work for us. I certainley won't be able to do it myself. Did you actually come here for the economic module? PM me.
