Hello everyone, this is SORA from Taiwan (eROC), nice to meet you all!

As you know, I'm now traveling around the eWorld, eRussia is my second stop in this trip. I've never been to real Russia before, but I've heard that Russia is a cold but beautiful country, and you also have pretty girls and handsome boys, and of cause, good vodka.😃



I've been here for about.....a month I think? I meet so many good people here, and you guys treat me as warm as I'm one of you, I really appreciate of that. I have to apologize here because I took so long to write this article, in my schedule, I plan to stay in a country for 2 weeks and I'll finish the article about that country before I leave. Hmm......well, so problem in real life stock me and I forgot about this thing, that's my bad, sorry guys 🙁



Okay, let's back to topic. I'd like to introduce Russia in my own view. Because it's from my personal view, may have some mistakes, hope you can forgive me 🙂

After the main part, I'll put the lyrics of the song I put on the beginning, I wish you can enjoy it!

The following is the main part :



To me, the deepest and the first impression for Russia, was derived from the Soviet Union in WW2. I love to study history, the fights between country and country, advance of civilization, technology development.......all of these always touch my heart. That's why I love the games from Paradox Interactive, like EU3, HOI3, Crusader Kings II, and Victoria II. They are good games, really, and you must try at least one of them.



Also I've played World of Tank and Age of Empires II, they are great!



Of cause, World Wars are one of my favorite parts in the history, and you can guess how excited I were when I know I have world history class in Senior High School. Trust me, after 9 years Taiwanese and Chinese history classes, you'll want to have some different kinds of history lesson.

uh, what are we just talking about?



In my childhood, my impression for Russia is more like a cruel, greedy, and powerful authoritarian country. This is come form history classes and some books about Chinese history. As you know(or not?), modern China had became two different government, one is democracy(ROC), another is communist(PRC); at that time, USSR is stand with PRC, because they are both communist, and that make USSR become our enemy. That's why some books describe USSR like a bad country.



Actually, that didn't impact me too much, and......well, if I talk too much on this theme, it'll become a political discussions, and political discussions always cause political disagreement, so I think I just stop here 😛



Let's talk about the foods! I haven't ate any Russian food, so I've Google some traditional food from Russia:

Blinis



At my first impression, I think it may taste like Scallion Pancake

......okay, so it is some kind of pancake, which can add sweet or salty batching on it, just like creperie I think?
The Blinis looks good, if I have the chance I'd like to have one with smoked salmon fillet.

Alright, I'll not make a mistake again.......it is Russian kind "Dumplings" right?

Yeah! I'm right! It's like dumplings but a little be smaller, and different places will have different fillings. But dumplings always use pork as filling, and I found Siberian pelmeni has Mushrooms, Onion, Sauerkraut as fillings but not pork......how's it taste like?


Borscht





Uh, I have to say this is my first time to see soup in RED.
This is what I found on the net:
"It is almost always made with a beef or pork broth, usually contains heavy starchy vegetables including potatoes and beets , but may also contain carrots and peppers."
Sounds delicious!
And you also have "cold borscht"? Okay, let me see......



" After cooling down, sour cream , soured milk , kefir , or yogurt may be added, depending on regional preferences. Typically, raw chopped vegetables , such as radishes or cucumbers , are added and the soup is garnished and flavored with dill or parsley ."
Cold soup? I've never tried one. Red, cold, and sour soup? I think I should have the courage to try🙂

Oh, by the way, we also have borscht in Chinese style, take a look:





Basically, Chinese borscht is almost like Russian's, but beet isn't produce in China, so they replace the beet with tomato, that's why Chinese borscht doesn't look red but more like orange.

How does Chinese borscht taste like?

Well, just imaging it is Tomato vegetable(maybe with some meat) soup, I don't like tomato in dishes so I only have tried it 1 or 2 times......do you like tomatoes in dishes?

Now I'm looking back on my article.......oh my, most of it is talking about foods. And my last article, talking about China, was the same, always talking about foods.
......Being a gourmet newspaper editor sounds good, I'll try to do this well. 🙂

如你們所知，我目前正在進行環遊e世界的旅行，而俄羅斯是我這趟旅途中的第二個休息站。在現實生活中，我從未去過俄羅斯，但我知道俄羅斯是個寒冷但美麗的國家，你們也有著漂亮的女孩與帥氣的男孩，還有理所當然的－美好的伏特加😃



我已經在俄羅斯待了......差不多一個月吧？我在這裡遇到了不少好人，你們待我就如同我是你們的一份子，我非常感謝這點。有件事我必須要在這邊向各位致歉，我在這份報紙的編寫上花了太長的時間了：在我預定中，我會花兩個禮拜左右的時間待在一個國家，並在離開之前將報紙完成發布。嗯......這次因為現實生活中有種種事情讓我抽不開身，以至於我忘了要完成報導這件事，不好意思了各位🙁



好的，讓我們回到正題上。我接下來打算用我的角度來談談俄羅斯，因為純粹是個人觀點，所以可能會有些和現實不符的地方，希望各位別鞭的太用力🙂

對我而言，對俄羅斯最深刻的印象，是來自二戰時期的蘇聯。我喜歡閱讀歷史故事，國與國之間的爭鬥、文化的演進、科技的進展......等等，這些都能深深打動我的心。這就是為什麼我喜歡玩P社的遊戲，像是歐陸風雲、鋼鐵雄心、十字軍之王、還有維多利亞。這些都是好遊戲，真的，強烈推薦每個人都去玩看看。



同時我也有在玩WOT跟世紀帝國2，同樣是不可多得的好遊戲。



當然，世界大戰是歷史上我最喜歡的其中一段。你們可以想像的到，當我知道高中歷史課會教到世界史的時候有多麼興奮......相信我，在上完9年份的台灣史和中國史後，你會非常想要上點不一樣的歷史課。

呃，我們本來在說什麼來著？



在我小時候，我對於俄國的印象，是個邪惡貪婪的專制國家。這個印象主要是來自於當時讀過的一些有關中國史的書本。如你們所知(或是不知？)，現代中國分裂成了兩個不同的政府，支持民主主義的中華民國，跟支持共產主義的中華人民共和國。在當時，蘇聯跟中共由於同為共產主義，是站在同一個陣線上的，也就是相對於我們來說的敵人。我想這就是為什麼有些書會把蘇聯描寫成一個邪惡的國家。



事實上，這並沒有影響我對於俄國的印象太多.......嗯，如果我花太多篇幅在這個主題上的話，這篇報紙會變成政治討論，而政治討論是最容易出亂子的話題了，所以就在這邊打住吧。



我們來談談食物吧！我沒有吃過任何俄羅斯代表性的食物，所以我去google了一些俄國的傳統美食：

Blinis(布林餅)



我對這食物的第一印象，是他看起來有點像蔥油餅

......OK，所以這其實是某種可以加入鹹或者是甜的配料的薄餅，我想這大概很像可麗餅吧？
布林餅看起來很不錯，如果有機會可以嘗嘗看，我會想要來一份夾煙燻鮭魚的。

好吧，我想我這次不會搞混了......這是俄羅斯風味的"水餃"對吧？

炸餃子！這看起來超好吃的！

太好啦，我猜對啦！這就像是比較小一點的水餃，而且不同地區有加入不同餡料的習慣。但是水餃通常都會包豬肉做為餡，而我發現俄式餃子的西伯利亞風味的常用餡料是蘑菇、洋蔥、跟酸菜，卻沒有加入豬肉......不知道這嘗起來怎麼樣？


Borscht(羅宋湯)





呃，我必須要說，這是我第一次看到紅色的湯
我在網上找到了這些：
"羅宋湯通常會加入牛肉或豬肉，通常還會加入重澱粉類的蔬菜，像是馬鈴薯跟甜菜根，同時也會加入胡蘿蔔和胡椒。"
聽起來很好吃！
你們還有"冷羅宋湯"？OK，我來看看......



"在冷卻後，會依據各地區的喜好，加入酸奶油、酸奶、克菲爾(一種原自高加索地區的發酵乳)、或是優格。一般來說，湯裡會加入蒔蘿跟西洋芹做調味，也會加入切碎的蔬菜，例如蘿蔔或黃瓜。"
冷湯？這我倒沒喝過......又紅又冷又酸的湯？我想我應該要鼓起勇氣試試看🙂

對了，順帶一提，中國也有中式的羅宋湯：





基本上來說，中式跟俄式的羅宋湯差異並不是很大；但由於中國不產甜菜，所以中式羅宋湯用番茄替換掉了原本應該添加的甜菜，這就是為什麼中式羅宋湯的色澤看起來不帶紅，反而看起來偏向橘色。
中式羅宋湯喝起來怎樣？
嗯...就想像這是碗"番茄蔬菜(可能會加肉的)湯"吧！我並不是很喜歡加入番茄的料理，所以我只喝過一、兩次......你們喜歡加入番茄的料理嗎？

現在回頭看看這篇文章......糟糕，一大部分都是在談食物嘛。我上一篇談論中國的報紙也是一樣，滿滿的食物報導，慘了，說好的旅遊報呢？
......仔細想想，開個美食報業似乎也不錯，我會努力的 🙂
