[FIST]Gnilraps - A Love Story

Greetings to all in the eWorld. My second assignment from the Federalist Party is to give you an insight into our PotUS's beautiful mind.

Today, I give you Gnilraps.

1. When and how did you start playing? How did you find it? What kind of game were you looking for?

I had been playing another MMORPG called Kings of Babylon (I was “Lord” of the “Blue Realm”) which closed down the server I was playing on. It was a hugely fun game for me and I wanted something else similar. I googled and found eRepublik. At that time it was one of the most highly rated games of its type. (This is the importance of things like the eNASA program, btw).

It took me a while to get involved in the meta game. That came mostly through Party involvement with the Feds.

2. What kind of games do you usally play? What consoles do you own?

I no longer play console games, though I’ve been a fan of them for a long time. I played A LOT of Nintendo back in the day. Once I got interested in building my own PC’s, I started PC gaming. I played a whole lot of Rome Total War, Civ., some Sim City, Half Life, and lots of Need For Speed. In my dorm room at Graduate School, I set up a lan with several steering wheels and we used to race Porsche Unlimited while drinking beer. Then we’d stay up all night shooting each other in Half Life. Those were the days.

3. What is you military career in erepublik?

Easy Company. But the truth is, you really don’t have a good appreciation for the military aspect of this game until you have played at the National level. The variables involved in planning, coordinating, troubleshooting mechanics, gathering support, and ultimately executing a plan cannot be appreciated at the MU level. Anyone who wants a Military Career in eRep needs to get involved with NSC.

4. What is your political career in erepublik?

I began as a successful Federalist. I like to think I sort of rescued that party once. I was nominated for PP at a time when the Feds had just dipped into 6th place. I think I did a lot to turn that around and I think we climbed into 2nd before I was done. Subsequent PP’s were able to do as much or more, and that is why the Feds are currently on top of the membership rankings.

But having the success I did gave me a public face that merely publishing my newspaper did not. So i started getting asked to do this and that. Now I am the one doing the asking. It isn’t hard to succeed politically in eRep if I can do it.

5. Have you run for PotUS previously? How many times? What did you learn from previous campaigns?

I ran one other time, though my campaign was thrown together quite hurriedly. At that time some dude named Alexander Auctoritas was running for CP from USWP. His opponent was Sir Valero Volcrum from AMP. SVV asked me on as his VP and I said yes. With less than 10 days to go before the election, SVV backed out. With no more than a moments’ thought I decided to pick up from where SVV left off and I declared my own candidacy. I was not successful in that election, and I waited until now to run again.

6. When and why did you leave the Federalist party? Any regrets? Are you happy to be a USWP member?

I left the Feds after a very miserable term as PP. Due to a very few interpersonal conflicts that seemed impossible to solve at that time, I had endured my worst month in this game. I left because I no longer trusted the leadership of the party. I am sure things have changed by now.

Regret is probably the wrong word. I have very good memories. But in truth I learned a lot more about the game once I had some experience in more than one Political Party. So yeah, I’m happy as USWP.

7. When did you decide it was time to run for PotUS?

It’s been a while. I was toying with the idea all the way back when Fingerguns ran. I kept toying with the idea, looking for a month when it was feasible. There are no months when it is feasible to spend this much time on a browser game, though, so I just threw my hat to the wind and figured let’s get into it now.

8. Do you have to budget for erepublik or do you just buy gold whenever the mood strikes you?

Both.

Anything I could add would pale in comparison to the comments above. I can only add that Gnilraps did serve as my VP during my second term and was amazing. I can only imagine how awesome his Presidency is going to be. I can proudly say this: I love this man being our PotUS.
