~Every Dog Has His Day~
I write this article reflecting on many of the memories I have encountered over the past couple years playing eRepublik. From owning Canadians to owning a conglomerate, this “game,” has been much more than just a game. Stimulation, a social experiment, an economic system, a business management lesson, a fun atmosphere, a political battle – all of these things have made eRepublik into not just a game, but a learning experience. Erep has taught me more than just how to get gold, but how to develop friendships, basics on how to run a company, the complexities of even small politics, and of course, the intricacies of macro economics.
However, as the title indicates, I am moving on. My colleague Uncle Sam and I, Benn, will move on in life. The “Beta Boomers,” or those who were the sharks prior to V1 are a dying breed; this is just the natural flow of the world and, more importantly, the e-world. Erepublik will forever bring newcomers and graduate veterans, I am merely the latter.
I certainly have been through a lot in the 500+ days that I have participated in eRepublik: Two terms as president, numerous battle heroes, a buttload of companies, and countless friends and nemeses. I feel complete. If you are reading this article and realizing that you are developed in the game and that you have contributed plenty as well, you will soon also realize that the game, just like history, repeats itself. Even in eRepublik we notice tendencies to recapitulate, such as political takeovers. If you are into the game, there comes a time in every e-man’s life where they have witnessed everything. When that time comes, we ask, what next? For me, the next step is collegiate, as I am entering my senior year in less than two weeks.

I would like to take this time to give tribute to those who have served me as friends, as worthy enemies, and as the men and women who have made the game playable for me since mid December of 2007.

As my days grow short, shorter, and nonexistent, I have no time to operate the companies that Uncle Sam and I have brought up. If you have a lot of gold to spend (I’d advise to approach us with 100+ ready to spend) then we have extremely profitable companies ready to sell, INCLUDING Guns nâ Stuff, the company with possibly the most total profit ever.
