Day 895.

After the glorious victory in Heilongjiang, Eden stepped up to control the pace of the World War and cooled it for a while. No new, significant attacks were started in a couple of days, and the fighting consisted mainly from Romanian blocking attacks on Hungary. Croatia was able to hold off the Hungarian attempt to claim back Central Transdanubia, and they remained to possess an outpost from where to launch future attacks. Holding Central Transdanubia gave Croatia border with 4 different Hungarian regions instead of two, widening the variety of options to attack in the future.

Encouraged by the success in HLJ, Eden put up a plan with the United States to attack Serbian-occupied Liaoning and Hungarian original regions at the same time. The game bugs however restricted USA from declaring war to Serbia, as was stated by President Woxan in a frustrated article yesterday.
The plan was to force Phoenix choose between these two fronts, as they could not defend both of them at the same time. It would have been a victory for Eden if they won one of the fronts, as reclaiming Liaoning would severely weaken Serbia and the destruction of Hungary would remove one of the 3 Phoenix core powers from existence at least temporarily.

Despite the unfortunate setback in Asia, Eden decided to trust their military power being superior to Phoenix’s and attacked Hungary anyway. The second attempt differs from the first by having more Eden powers involved. Due to landswaps, Poland was removed from the active MPP😒 of Croatia against Hungary. This gave them free hands to attack Hungary on their own, as was widely expected after they were swapped through Slovakia and failed in an attempt to invade Western Transdanubia, at that time occupied by Slovenia.

On day 894 around 11:30 eTime, Eden launched a joint offensive against 4 Hungarian regions, including attacks on Hungarian economical hubs W. Transdanubia and the capital of Central Hungary. From the invaded C. Transdanubia, Croatia launched a two-pronged attack on Southern Great Plain and Central Hungary, which is evolving to be the main event of today. Romania has attacked Northern Great Plain and Southern Great Plain, the attacks meant to be mostly damage drains. The attack on NGP however is rather important when the next phase of the offensive is taken in to account.

Finally comes the Polish invasion of Western Transdanubia. W. Transd. Is very important region for Hungary, as it holds a substantial amount of companies. In fact, according to eGobba tools, this sole region has more companies than the entire Poland combined. The region hosts a vast majority of the Hungarian weapon industry, and if it is lost, Hungary will be significantly weakened.

Eden attacks on Hungary, day 894-895.

The motive of this reignited invasion attempt of Hungary is to wipe them out and significantly weaken Phoenix by doing so. Hungary is the leading member of PHX, and annihilating them will throw the alliance in to disarray and give Eden time to carry out more offensive campaigns while Hungary is occupied and later when they try to liberate their country and rebuild. Some have suggested even RW:ing Hungary back instantly in order to prevent them from promoting the circumstances and drawing new players to the game. This will most likely however not happen, as Eden wants PHX pay dearly for liberating Hungary. Eden has thrown tens of thousands of Gold in tries to invade Hungary, and this has raised suspicions, spearheaded by a notable Hungarian and an e😜resident, Feherlofia Koppany.

Poland has national interests in invading Hungary as well, as W. Transdanubia could theoretically be held by them and give a boost to their declined economy after losses in Berlin and Rhone Alps. This would require either invading Slovenia and clearing the MPP-list, or transporting Romania in to the border region of Prekmurje by using Slovakia as a middleman. This would block Slovenia from attacking Poland, and as Hungary cannot challenge Poland in 1vs1 battle, Poland could occupy the region.
Poland has repaired themselves surprisingly well after the loss of Rhone Alps. The seemingly suicidal attack of Spain against Brazil has proven to be a success, as Brazil is afraid of launching the rest of the Spanish MPP-set now when their biggest allies located in Balkans are under invasion or threatened by one. By attacking Brazil, Spain got a free war against Slovenia, and they swiftly conquered Rhone Alps and placed the region again under Eden control. After signing a peace treaty and reopening trade, Spain and Poland are starting to live in symbiosis as Poland has ordered their citizens who work in land sector to reside in Spain, work there and fight in the MPP-wars. Spain built a hospital to Rhone Alps to keep the population number high in order to make French attempts to conquer the region impossible. Population there is over 4,500 and the cost to attack is 1200G.

Poland remains determined to rise and be a superpower again. Their government is giving out orders to stay in Spain if working in the land sector, and the atmosphere around Western Europe is implying that a new war very similar to the one fought during the holidays will be waged. Spain got a free war against France by attacking Brazil, Canada has declared war upon them and already attacked, Poland received a border-rule war against Germany by attacking Hungary and their national goals for May imply to an attack against them during the next month.
If Hungary and presumably the Serbian-held Liaoning fall, Eden will pretty much have open hands to wage war around the World as they wish. Phoenix will be drastically weakened and Eden might repeat history and conquer Germany and France in their entirety yet again. This new war would give Poland back the lost presence in the shores of Atlantic ocean, and give them back Rhone Alps.

To put it shortly, if all Hungarian regions fall, they will be reduced to two regions. Croatia can then attack Southern Transdanubia and Eden can triple-tag Northern Hungary and crush the PHX giant. Phoenix is however fighting hard in Central Hungary and they have raised the wall back to it’s original levels. Eden has lots of work to do as the initial wall is over 1,1 million as Central Hungary was issued to be the next Hungarian fortress after HLJ fell. Hungary is taking precautions and implements a hospital to Northern Hungary, so they can make their last stand there if all else fails.

The battles end in roughly an hour. I’ll update this article briefly unless C. Hungary goes to significant overtime.

Day 896.

Eden preserves initiative and tries again in a double-pronged attack against Central Hungary.

The image above sums up pretty well the confusion on the final minutes of the first battle for Central Hungary and the 5 minutes after it when Hungary tried to flip initiative by retreating half of their nation in the process.
The mysterious chain of events begun as Allied forces started extensive tanking in a bid to invade Central Hungary. Eden managed to decimate over 700k from the wall and pushed it in to Suburbia, but massive server lag hit and during that time when many of the soldiers residing in Eden nations were unable to fight, Phoenix pushed the wall over No Mans Land and won.

Hungary then retreated the battle for Southern Great Plain to get initiative, but Croatian president was on to it and swiftly attacked Southern Transdanubia and Northern Great Plain in order to prevent Hungary from counterattacking.
Hungary retreated both battles, as they correctly rank Central Hungary to be more valuable than the regions surrounding it. Hungary shows great strategic thinking as they have no problems to retreat regions for tactical purposes and lose some to gain some, a skill lacking from some nations.
Unfortunately for Hungary, they fell prey to trusting the game mechanics too much. The Hungarian president assumed that a retreat will take effect immediately after he has pressed the button. This however is not so, as it can take several minutes before the servers register it and transfer the region to its new owner. This can take up to 10 minutes, but the rule of thumb is that it takes 120 seconds before the region changes hands after the battle for it has been resulted. Croatia attacked NGP and S. Transd. before the battle of C. Hungary ended. If the game mechanics would have worked like the Hungarian president thought they did, Hungary would have got the initiative after the secured CH battle. The retreat from NGP however came after the securing of C. Hungary, and therefore gave Croatia initiative. They took it in to use immediately and attacked Central Hungary again. They were later accompanied by Poland. The picture was caught after the Croatian attack, as the attack was tripled but later combined to a single battle by admins.

The first battle for Central Hungary topped the battle for Rhone Alps, becoming the largest battle ever fought with over 23,000,000 damage inflicted. The attack cost is substantial, but both sides used nearly equal amount of WP😒, and therefore it didn’t break the bank for either side as Eden apparently has deeper pockets than their adversaries.

A double-attack on Hungary puts them under a serious situation. If Eden claims victory here, they will have only one more region to attack, and with the Hungarian fortress swept in to the oblivion, the final battle should be a piece of cake. The icing of the cake for Eden is the Bulgarian attack on Romania, activating a full Eden MPP-set. Romania will surely wipe them after Eden😒 hands are freed from dealing with Hungary.
