[Dozzer4CP] We go again! / On y retourne! EN/FR

Day 2,507, 13:40 Published in Canada Canada by Dozzer_x
Salutations and greetings.

The primaries in the Canadian Progressive Front have ended, and the party has selected my as their endorsement for this month’s CP election. 24 people voted in the primary, and the results were as follows:
Dozzer_x - 23 votes
DMV3 - 1 vote
Rylde - 0 votes

Considering this situation, I believe I can say that I have a strong mandate from the CPF to run in this election, and I’d like to thank them for their endorsement.

I’ve also been informed that the members of the Imperial Wolves party have decided to endorse me as their presidential candidate in this election. I’m very grateful to them, and I promise that I will follow my principles and form an inclusive and diverse Cabinet. IW has always sent competent people in government, and I’m sure this will not change.

At the same time, I’d like to announce that I’m looking forward to cooperate with all political players in Canada, and I’ll be grateful for every other party endorsement I will get. I believe it is my duty to form an wide-ranging cabinet, considering the very difficult situation Canada will find itself in this next month.

I’ll structure my presidential article in three parts, with several chapters:. Part I
a. Foreign affairs;
b. Defence & War;
c. New cabinet structure.
Part II
d. Internal and Francophone affairs;
e. More foreign affairs;
f. Conclusion
Part III - Cabinet

PART I.a. FOREIGN AFFAIRS

This subject is probably the most important one of this election, considering the situation the e-world finds itself in. Next month, there is a huge chance that there will be no more LETO and Asteria, and no more Sirius and Aurora. This means Canada needs a responsible foreign affairs team that can ensure us a good place in a new alliance, a place that our country deserves after the great efforts we have done as a nation in these pasts few months.

This difficult situation means that Canada should not start a war at all. Starting a war in a period of alliance shift will bring us difficulties. There is plenty of time for war. But our absolute priority must be foreign affairs. The world is not going to end in October.

Having been Minister for Foreign Affairs in these past three months, I’ve had the opportunity to meet statesmen from all over the world and get information on other countries, as well as on alliances. As LETO’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs, I’ve also had access to Asteria channels and could observe the difference between an alliance of big countries and one of small countries. And I’ve reached a conclusion.

And that conclusion is that what would be best for Canada is to be part of a regional alliance, with close allies. An alliance made not for damage, but for friendship and actual mutual support. Naturally, I don’t ignore the fact that we need big countries behind us if we want to go to war or are attacked. It is only normal for us to keep strong relations and mutual trust with some big countries, to keep them as allies, but we should orientate ourselves towards forming an alliance with countries that have always been there for us and we have always been there for them.

PART I.b. DEFENCE & WAR

I know that players in Canada, like players in all eRepublik, need war from time to time because they have lots of resources to spend. And I do agree that war is a good thing in this game. But it’s only good when you have the money for it and when you have a stable situation in what concerns international relations.

Canada, in this moment, and in the next month, will have neither. Of course, if we try harder we can get the money for it, but those will be useless if we decide to start a war in the middle of an alliance shift. If we manage to resolve the diplomatic issues, I promise Canada that plans for a war and possibly a war may also be done under my term, if elected. But need to get everything sorted before, we can’t risk diplomatic isolation or another wipe.

The new Cabinet structure that I’ve proposed is more suitable to coordinating a war, and I would also like to propose that a new structure is formed in Canada: a Supreme Military Council, made up of representatives from all Canadian MUs. If I get to be elected President, I’ll work on getting this organism on track and proposing the necessary legislation in Congress.

Let’s face it. The game is mainly about war, and there need to be proper structures for it. Of course, I’m far from advocating military control over the government, but I do think that the military units need to have more say in government affairs. They are not here to serve the government, the government is here to serve the people and the military units they are part of.

PART I.c. NEW CABINET STRUCTURE

From my own experience, I can say that the RL cabinet structure does not work that well within the context of this game. Therefore, I think we should go on four aspects: strategy and analysis; cooperation and coordination; supply; internal affairs. Some people may not see this, but there are aspects to today’s domains, like foreign affairs and defence, that are deeply interlinked and would work better if put together.

There will be 11 Secretariats, each with a clear role and clear duties. This way, each government member can be more focused on their role, and do less multi-tasking. The only ones who should be doing multi-tasking are the President and the Prime Minister.

The general scheme of my Cabinet would look like this:

a. Presidency of Canada
b. Prime Minister of Canada
c. General Secretariat of the Government
-- Council of Advisors
d. Department of Strategy
-- Secretariat for foreign analysis;
-- Secretariat for military analysis and strategy;
-- Secretariat for financial analysis and market strategy;
e. Department of Cooperation and Coordination
-- Secretariat for international cooperation (will serve as MoFA in-game);
-- Secretariat for internal military coordination;
-- Secretariat for allied cooperation and coordination;
-- Secretariat for war affairs;
f. Department of Supply
-- Secretariat for financial supply (will serve as Governor in-game);
-- Secretariat for combat orders and military supplies
g. Department of Internal Affairs
-- Secretariat for Francophone Affairs;
-- Secretariat for Education (will serve as MoE in-game).
