[MoFA] Interview with the Supreme Commander of Asgard

Day 2,427, 11:15 Published in Australia Australia by Australian Foreign Affairs

He is the current Supreme Commander of the Asgard alliance and vice president of eNorway, he is also a former CP of eNorway, and has served many other roles in the eNorwegian community. He is also someone whom has gained much respect among the Asteria/LETO alliance, and in particular, he is a figure in which the eAustralian community has come to know and admire; his name is Joshua Morriseau.

Could you give us a brief history about eNorway, and tell us a little about yourself and how you came to be a prominent figure in the eNorwegian political arena?

Norway is one of the smallest nations in eRepublik however we have the biggest heart. Norway is a peculiar nation for the fact that it is very united surprisingly. I've been to a lot of enations all of them the same, filled with dirty politics and much fighting. Not saying that we don't have our arguments, but for the most part it is very clean.

Being so far north it has driven eNorway to come into a natural alliance with many nations close to us, those being Finland, Sweden, Ireland, Canada and at one point the Netherlands. Norway will always fight the honourable fight, even when most would fear being wiped. Norway doesn't fear being wiped and always puts our allies before our own needs.

''Norway is one of the smallest nations in eRepublik however we have the biggest heart. Norway is a peculiar nation for the fact that it is very united surprisingly...''

Well I was originally born in Canada before moving to Bolivia two weeks later where I met Anthony Colby (MoFA at the time) and he gave me my first job and appointed me as the Ambassador to Singapore, South Africa and Australia. From there I was chosen as Bolivia's Representative to Sol where I voted and made executive decisions on her behalf. From there i moved to many places including Egypt, Singapore before landing in the Netherlands. Once there I made plenty of friends (and enemies) and was appointed to many positions including PP of GPN, ssMoFA and even the CP at one point due to a Motion of no Confidence in Kimberly's Government. I eventually grew tired of the internal fighting and left to eSouth Africa and then shortly after to eNorway.

Once in eNorway I took every opportunity to integrate myself into the community. I wrote plenty of articles and never was shy to openly question the Government. I guess I started to grow a small following and was eventually elected as the PP of Free Liberty and into Congress. I've managed to hold many high positions including CP and the Supreme Commander of Asgard. Not to say I haven't done anything controversial like signing a treaty with Poland and the UK without Congressional approval or taking certain defeats rather child-like, but I have learned from my mistakes and must say that the Norwegian community welcomed me from the very start and allowed me to get involved in politics and in the community. I have met many great friends here and for that I must thank the eNorwegian community.

For those who may not know, could you tell us a little about Asgard? What does it stand for? How did it come to be?

Asgard was founded by eSweden and eFinland after deciding they did not want bigger powers meddling in their own affairs and wanted to put their fate into their own hands. Norway was apart of early discussions however opted out to remain apart of EDEN. Canada and Norway were given trial member status early on, and both became full status members eventually, however Canada eventually left the alliance.

''Asgard was founded by eSweden and eFinland after deciding they did not want bigger powers meddling in their own affairs...''

Asgard was founded on day August 22nd, 2012 or Day 1737 meaning at a grand total of 689 Days Asgard is currently the oldest of all the current alliance and will celebrate our 3rd year anniversary next month. We still have a long way to catch up to eRepublik's oldest ever alliance (EDEN) but I am more than positive we will surpass it one day. Also Asgard is the only current alliance to maintain our very own MU.

The difference between Asgard and all the other alliances is that unlike the others who claim to be these brotherhoods, Asgard actually is just that, a brotherhood. Our identity has never been put into question and our resolve to maintain ourself as a small regional alliance has allowed us to become what we are today. Alliances rise and fall, but Asgard remains forever.

''The difference between Asgard and all the other alliances is that unlike the others who claim to be these brotherhoods, Asgard actually is just that, a brotherhood...''

Could you tell readers where Asgard's loyalties are? Who do they fight for and why?

Our oldest allies would have to be Canada, Ireland and Russia. Even though Canada left Asgard, we remain good friends to this day and will always fight for the Canadians. We also hold joint military operations with Russia when needed, such as was seen a few weeks ago when Poland reared its ugly head into Scandinavia once again.

''Our oldest allies would have to be Canada, Ireland and Russia...''

A recent AS by FYROM into Asgard territory without permission recently forced us to seek out new allies to help us get rid of them. Through a series of events, lies and back-stabs we decided it was best not to trust FYROM. They had said that they needed a region for Congress, that they would pay us and help us defeat the UK. However we found out that they already had a peace deal with the UK, so they were not actually planning to help us, so we decided it was best to side with Asteria in the war vs Sirius as can be seen in our Treaty. So we kicked them out of our regions and denied them a Congress once again! Along with our old allies and the newly formed Asteria and LETO, we consider ourselves to have many friends and allies, all of whom Asgard will fully support when needed.

Very well answered! eNorway has now become one of eAustralia's most trusted and valuable friends. Could you tell us a little about eNorway's relationship with eAustralia?

Yes actually as I was the one who spearheaded this. I have served a few times as Prime Minister earlier this year and now once again, but under Jasper's government I made it a goal to create new allies for eNorway and Asgard by trying to focus on the South Pacific nations. Australia was naturally the first choice. I began talks with the Government back then, which lead to an MPP between Norway and Australia. I had tried to bring New Zealand into the fold as well but they could not afford it at the time.

Since then I have made every effort possible to keep our relationship strong which I believe it has as can be seen by battle priorities shared for each other, our continuous signing of an MPP, and even the amount of Australians who now follow and comment in the Norwegian media. I believe that our nations have come to realize we are a lot alike. A lot smaller then most and at most times bullied by the larger nations around us. But I am fine with that as it has led us to forge new alliances and relationships, and ultimately has lead us to become such close allies over this first half of 2014. My only wish is that Australia was closer to Asgard so we could add a 4th member!

I would like to thank you for such an intriging and informative interview! Any final thoughts you would like to add?

I just have to say that on behalf of eNorway and Asgard, we really do appreciate the amount of effort the Australian Government has put into this relationship. Sometimes you can begin new alliances and they just fall apart because of a lack of communication, but that couldn't be farther from the truth from ours. I also want to thank the good folks of eAustralia for helping during our battles when needed. At one point we discussed holding joint strikes, but due to an invasion by the UK at the time that all stopped, but I would like to commit to planning and executing joint strikes together once more.

I also want to take this moment to invite all of Australia to celebrate Asgard's 3rd Birthday next month with us. We will be planning celebrations and I will let the Australian Government know what is happening closer to the date. One final time, thank you!

Kind Regards,
