[DoE] Political Parties: Party President

Day 2,182, 23:58 Published in USA USA by Department of Citizen Affairs

Today we're re-posting an article that addresses political parties (in particular, the in-game mechanics related to being a Party President and the meta-game responsibilities that eUSA Party Presidents hold).

Running for Party President

To run for Party President, a candidate must be a member of the party in which he or she wishes to run. Party President hopefuls must submit their candidacy before the 15th of the month and have an experience level of at least 16.

Most parties in the eUSA run primaries on their forums in order to choose their Party President, as this saves them from election day chaos and promotes more homogeneity within the parties. It is strongly recommended to withdraw from the in-game list of candidates if you have not won your party’s primary.

Ingame Functions

Party Presidents are in charge of several responsibilites in-game which include:

Editing the party details
Selecting which party members will run for Congress
Selecting who will represent the party in Country President elections

Party Presidents have a huge amount of power, most notably in their ability to select candidates Congressional elections.

Party Presidents also deal with several meta-game functions, seeking to build and strengthen their party's community (in addition to their country's community) in a variety of ways (including hosting trivia and poker nights for their party members, free giveaways of food and weapons for younglings in the party and various inter- and intra-party contests).

Fighting the PTO

With the recent war and political takeover (PTO) victories come a time to rejoice and live peacefully while rebuilding our country and our communities. With our top five parties secure from PTO threats, we must be careful to maintain political stability without alienating legitimate 6th parties. To avoid a possible division of votes on election day, it is best to withdraw candidacy if you have not won your party’s primary before the 15th so that the official candidate is able to win with ease and votes can be better spent to fight the PTO threat lingering among the 6th parties.

Please remember to post in the comments if you’d like the DoE to cover a particular subject.
