[DoE] New Site and Updates

Day 2,535, 10:37 Published in USA USA by Department of Citizen Affairs

Greetings, eUSA! MrCarey here with an update on what the DoE has been up to, is currently up to, and what’s in store for the future.

As some of you already know, the DoE faded into inactivity last month and Tyler Bubblar was looking for a replacement for Secretary of Education. He approached me and asked if it was something I’d be interested in, and I accepted the offer. I was handed what they call a “transfer document” and was sent on my way.

With that, I went through and updated pretty much everything that was out of date and emptied out the positions within the department that were neglected, and replaced them with new people. My first, main order of business was to get the Question of the Day program back up and running. It’s now running again with an average of 6-8 people participating daily.

My second order of business was to revive the American University. This isn’t something I could do alone, so I put David MacDaniel in charge as the Dean of the University. We currently have 11 people enrolled in the program! I’d like to let you all know, the AU isn’t just for newbies. People who want to learn more about the game or grasp a better understanding are welcome to apply as well.

Next, the website. I absolutely loathe the (now old) previous Department of Education website. I won’t get into details about it, but you all should be aware there is a new DoE Website, and it’s fantastic. Not only is it fantastic, it’s clean, sexy, and easy to navigate. Thanks to the genius workings of Scott Coyle, this website has been created and now released for public use. In the coming weeks, I will be deactivating the previous website, so make sure you bookmark this new one.

So now you know what was done, and what we’re doing. How about, what’s to come? Well, there has been a demand for the return of personal missions. This is a program the DoE had in place at one time and it worked similarly to eRepublik’s missions, but of course the Personal Missions were cooler.

Since there is an interest in bringing this program back, beginning today, I’m going to look into getting Personal Missions back rolling. Whether it will be a part of the DoE or part of the DoI (Department of Interior) is yet to be figured out. To me, without really looking into it, it sounds like a program for the Interior. I will collaborate with them in the coming week and see where this program will be better suited.

In the meantime, I thank everyone who has helped the DoE out in this transition period. I’d like to take a moment and thank the people who continually answer the Question of the Day for 50 Q5 foods. I’d like to thank the people who are enrolled in the AU program, both the mentors and the students. In closing I’d also like to thank everyone in eUSA who continues to be engaged with the community, who continue to give back to the government, and who try to keep our country and/or bring our country to the place of the most engaging eRepublik community.
