[DMJ4POTUS] Near and Far

Mood Music: Put on your red shoes and dance the blues.

This is shaping up to be a really fun election cycle. The months where only one really strong candidate runs gets fairly boring. I enjoy a challenge (I went into both my previous runs with the realistic outlook that I was tightly matched) and I see this month as no different. In both my previous campaigns, I was able to participate in debates, which I think really add an extra dynamic to a race. Unfortunately, my opponent has declined the opportunity to meet me in an eNPR debate leading up the election, despite two members of her own party serving has moderators.

Yesterday afternoon, I had the pleasure of being endorsed by the Hot Wing Party. As such, all executive events in the month of April will feature all-you-can-eat Hot Wings!

In my last article, I outlined my domestic plans. Today I would remiss not to talk about how I plan to interact with our allies and enemies and how I’ll be filling out the rest of my cabinet.

State

By and large, our situation on the world stage is pretty good. The Iranian debacle has been a pock mark on an otherwise stable few months in foreign policy. Our alliance is effective at working together, our friends are reliable and our enemies are relatively few. The aptly named “Wild Owl Doctrine” has helped us maintain this status for some time now.

I mentioned in my announcement that I am certainly not a household name in foreign policy. However, in my previous terms as President, I helped grow Pacifica by adding Lativa and serving as Secretary General. I handled our then-new neighbors Cuba with diplomacy to our mutual benefit. I avoided a costly war with France through negotiations and being willing to make tough decisions.

I’m not an expert in foreign affairs, but I certainly hold my own, and the foreign entities I’ve interacted with know that I’m a competent communicator that they can deal with. Debacles like the Iranian Affair this month may be fun to write about and spur activity, but they also damage our reputation as a nation. Needlessly damaging relationships for the sake of fun is a net loss in my eyes.

Looking at the population of the eUS, few people match the expertise of Wild Owl when it comes to this arena. His foreign contacts and ability to interact and affect change are unmatched. That is why I have chosen him to serve as my Secretary of State.

National Security Council

In a throwback to my old approach to NSC, I’ve chosen two co-chairs that I think are going to be a perfect pairing to keep our country safe and informed. Something that has been lost from NSC lately is media. People like HeapSeppo or The Mike have published some great work over the years while serving on the National Security Council. I’ve asked my team to work on similar media this month. As I said in my last article, communication with the population is huge for our success. The NSC is a wealth of knowledge that we should be sharing so people understand why we do things the way we do.

I’m excited to watch Resoula and Yui kick major butt this month as they pair up as National Security Council Co-Chairs. They bring a ton of collective experience and are ready to keep up their past performance.

Treasury

The last department head I’m going to list here is without compare in the realm of money. He and I do a lot of analysis together and I know he’ll continue to help us find the best approach in our financial policies. I’m of course talking about Kemal Ergenekon.

Executive Staff

In choosing my Vice President, my second in command, I had to look for someone I knew I could trust to carry on my legacy should the unthinkable happen (like my Internet going out or something). As we sat across from each other last week, eating the Obama Special at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles (the Obama Special is 3 chicken wings and a waffle; it’s freaking delicious), I asked him directly if he was up for the job. He accepted.

I’ve known this guy longer than I’ve known almost anyone still alive in eRepublik. From our days together back in the Training Corps, to the Air Force and WTP, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every opportunity to work with him. I give you, Disco Musolini.

My selection for Chief of Staff was one of the first people to approach me after I announced that I was running. “Retirement is boring,” he said. “Give me something to do.” I had never served as Chief of Staff until the Great Blacklisting of 2015 when I stepped in to serve under Gnilraps in place of Tom Cauchon (welcome back to Tom). Keeping a cabinet full of squirrely secretaries in line and on task is not an easy job. Keeping them from killing each other is downright difficult. I trust that my Chief of Staff will be up for the task and keep our executive running like a well oiled machine. That’s why I’ve selected Orikfricai.

You’ll notice that I haven’t listed any deputies in these departments. If you want to serve in the executive in any capacity, send a PM to either http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/messages-compose/2197383]me or the Secretary of that department. We want you to be involved. We need you to be involved. Contact my team today and be a part of the adventure.

Dio bless you, and Dio bless the eUnited States of America.
