This ride is into the sunset...

Mood Music: Can you handle the flow?

Over five years ago, I StumbledUpon (literally) a little game called eRepublik. It didn’t take long for me to become very involved with various aspects of this game. While at the time, that was primarily the military module and certainly not the political side of things, like many of us, I have come to experience a lot of things and interact with a fair number of people.

But let’s all be honest: eRepublik sucks. The only reason any of us has stayed this long is the people. Yet as the population continues to dwindle month after month and as the same people get elected over and over or month old players make it into Congress without a single forum post beforehand, it wears you down.

After a fairly long break from eRep, I came back active about 18 months ago. For the first time, I got involved in politics, took positions high in the national military, got into Congress (repeatedly), party leadership, and ultimately two terms as President.

So I clicked. And I clicked. And I clicked. And I had two kids. And I got a new job. And I moved. And I stopped caring about clicking. What made eRepublik good back in the “good old days” were people who cared enough to put in hours of their time to make it good. I can’t even count the number of hours I spent on working on things in the Training Corps when I first started. And there were tons of people who were the same way.

I could probably count those people on my fingers, now. When it gets to that point, you have to know when it’s time to move on. For me, that time is now. On February 6th, I will officially quit eRepublik. Between my family, my new job, and the pending return of school, there are just more things in life that I care about more than eRepublik.

It’s been an experience to the say the least, and this is where it ends for me.

Dio bless you, and Dio bless the eUnited States of America.
