Join the new world

Dear TUP members and anyone else who is interested,

This article is to announce my intention to run for Party President of TUP and to outline my plans for the month should I be elected.

I’ve been party president of TUP twice before, for two consecutive terms from April last year.

The Obligatory Experience Bit

I’ve been an active member of TUP ever since I was able to join in game and strongly believe in our ideals and policies.

Last April, I announced my intention to create a social scheme in my PP manifesto. During my 1st term The Unity Food Programme was implemented and is still running strongly today. It’s a free food programme that offers high quality (6 wellness) food to UK Citizens from levels 5-20, who work in Q1 companies.



Anyway, enough about experience and the past. Now to outline the basic plan for this month if I am elected.

Vice Party President
It’s my pleasure to announce that keram10 will be my Vice Party President.

He’s a great asset to TUP and the country and is currently the Minister of Foreign Affairs. If you’ve been hiding under a rock and haven’t seen his excellent articles yet, you should definitely check them out.

Keram will be helping me with the day to day running and organisation of the party. Whether it’s running companies, organising messaging campaigns, helping out with congress elections or helping with our social schemes; there’s always plenty to do and it’s great to have someone who I can rely on to help out.



Communication
Communication with our members is something that needs to be improved. It is my intention to PM all of our members more often. Congress elections are of course the first and biggest event for a Party President to deal with and so you can expect messages relating to those. Once those are out of the way, however, I intend to keep in touch when possible and will also be happy to respond to any messages or any questions you may have.

I’d also like to increase our presence in the media with a few more articles than we have been used to lately. Frerk, our current Party President only went and got himself elected as Prime Minister and so understandably, he’s rather busy with that right now.

Social Schemes
I mentioned TUfP earlier on, which has helped hundreds of people in the last year by supplying thousands of units of food. We also have a welcome basket scheme operating for new members to the forums. These cost us a fair amount to run but I intend to keep them going!

TUP believe in a fairer society for all. Not only do our schemes help those most in need but they also encourage greater activity and participation in the eUK forum community. By saving people from dying, we increase player retention. Also, by helping workers maintain/improve their wellness, we help them work more productively. This helps business owners and the country (through tax revenue).

I intend to encourage business owners to inform their workers of our schemes, so that they can help us to help out their workers and increase their productivity. Many business owners simply sack low wellness workers without even messaging them. This only leads to more, low wellness workers in the job market who will then cause problems for the next company they join....and so on. Education is the key to improving the wellness of these low wellness workers.

Congress Elections
A key part of the month for any party and will be my primary concern for the first 10 days. We are currently the most represented party in congress. This is something I’ll be looking to maintain and I will of course be trying to improve our representation further.

If you want to run for congress, get yourself signed up to the forums urgently, if you aren’t already. I have absolutely no problem with running keen and inexperienced members for congress, so long as they have the desire and activity to learn and get involved with the party. In fact, I strongly encourage them to register to do so when the registration thread goes up in our private forums (which you can request access to from the private forum requests are of the forum) on 16th/17th January. We have some extremely experienced congressmen and other members who will be more than happy to offer advice and assistance.

In fact, I may well have a bit of a purge of our current congressmen, depending on their activity and participation within the party. I’d rather have a new member who is keen and contributing to policy, campaigning and being an active member of the community, rather than re-electing someone who has missed most of the votes in commons or not gotten involved with anything this month. So if you’re an existing congressmen who hasn’t done much, it’s time to raise your game!



Prime Minister Election
This is the bit where I tell you that we will get the next Prime Minister. In reality, that will largely be down to whoever the candidate is. We will have a poll in the forums of any interested candidates to decide who we run. I will ensure that the campaign is well run and as long as our candidate is a good one, we will have an excellent chance.

We will, as usual, have a party conference after congress elections where any member is encouraged to suggest policies for the party and for our candidate. We’d love to hear your ideas.



Opportunities
TUP has some very experienced members and yet there are ALWAYS opportunities for people to get involved. As mentioned earlier, I’ll happily sacrifice one of our senior members to give a newer player the chance to run for congress if they can show me that they are willing and able.

Every party claims to be friendly and to offer opportunities and encouragement. The truth of the matter is that every party could do with more active and hard working members. TUP is no different. Don’t listen to the people who say that opportunities are only available in smaller parties. It’s simply not the case. You’re actually more likely to get these opportunities as a part of a successful party like TUP.
