[DC] Chatzilla/IRC Tutorial!

Day 3,053, 19:37 Published in Croatia South Korea by Don Croata

Hi,
In todays article I’m going to explain you how to use IRC and especially how to use Firefox add-on - Chatzilla. The combination of these two is the best for your gaming expirience in this game. Now, I know many people are using whatsapp/teamspeak or other kind of communication tools, but the mentioned two are definitly something which enables you to be “really online”. You don’t have to give away your phone number, you don’t have to check your phone 0/24h, you can just enjoy the expirience while being online.

IRC

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a perfect way to communicate safely. There are some basic commands on IRC. So, let’s take step by step and see where this gets us! This steps can all be done through Chatzilla as well, so if you're planning on more than just joining IRC occassionally, I'd suggest you moving down to Chatzilla tutorial!

Step 1: Open www.mibbit.com

Step 2: Choose “Rizon” as your server, then type your nickname and desired channel to join.

Example:

Brotip: You can also click here: #CrOmega (to join via www.tinyurl.com/cromegachat )

Step 3: Once you’ve chosen your nick you should also register it. There’s nothing more simple than that! By the way, if your nickname is already taken, you can always change it by using the comman😛 /nick YourNick (YourNick would be your new nickname in this case). Example: /nick Don_Croata.

To register your nickname (which is highly important for later) you should only type a comman😛

/ns register pass mail (in which ‘pass’ is your new IRC password and ‘mail’ is your valid e-mail address)
Example:

Now you should recieve an email adress in your inbox. It will be in this format:
/msg NickServ CONFIRM ConfirmationCodeFromEmail

All you have to do is copy the whole command starting with ‘/’ symbol and paste it in mibbit! When you do this, your nickname is now registered under the password you listed in the first command while registrating it. Now you made sure you’re able to join much more channels and you made sure no one else can use your nickname.

Example:

Step 4:
Each time you open mibbit you will have to identify yourself. The identify command is: “/ns identify YourPassword“ ; Once you send this command you will be identified again. By using Chatzilla, you don’t have to do this ever again, so keep in touch!

Step 5:

Some basic IRC commands/tips are:
/join #channel (to join some channel) For example: /join #rat
/nick YourNewNickname (to change your nick)
/ns identify password (to identify yourself)
-you can always join #cromega and ask for help

Chatzilla

In order to avoid many of these things and to make your IRC life easier you should install Chatzilla! If you don’t have Mozilla Firefox, I suggest you to install it.

Step 1: Install Mozilla Firefox (I’m using it just for Chatzilla) - DOWNLOAD LINK

Step 2: Install Chatzilla Add-On for Firefox - ADD-ON LINK

Step 3: Move Chatzilla to your bookmarks bar simply by opening Firefox options, then ‘customize…’ and then you can move it to your bookmarks bar. (Where to find ‘customize…’: http://prntscr.com/ama59y )

Step 4: Open Chatzilla. Now you will be able to set your nickname. In this case click on ‘Don Croata’ and change your nickname to whatever your nickname is

Example:

Once you do this type: “/server irc.rizon.net“ - this will connect you with the Rizon server. (You can now follow the steps explained in Mibbit tutorial).

Step 5: Choose to open irc.rizon.net on the startup by marking this checkbar

Step 6: Now let’s make your life easier. You don’t have to open all the channels each time you open your chat, you can simply make Chatzilla auto-identify you and open all the channels you want to open!

Click Chatzilla (top left corner), then ‘Preferences..’ then choose irc.rizon.net, then choose ‘Lists’ tab, then click ‘Add..’ (on the right) and then type only “ns identify YourPassword’. By doing this Chatzilla will identify you each time Rizon server opens!

Example:

Step 7: Join some channels now! Once you join the channel you’d like to join each time you open Chatzilla repeat the Step 5 and mark them as ‘open on startup’. By doing this you’ll make sure each time you open Chatzilla this channel will open as well.

Example:

That’s all folks, now you can enjoy your IRCing expirience and expand your Erepublik expirience with something else except working, training and fighting! There’s some fameous quote of some fameous Erepublik player which says: “Battles are won on the battlefields, but wars are won on IRC”
