[CP] State of the Union (Day 2176)

Day 2,176, 13:51 Published in Canada Canada by Addy Lawrence

THE MANDATE

On October 5th, a majority of eCanadian voters provided me with a mandate to build an eCanada of vision, passion, and purpose. I have an outstanding team of people to help me achieve this:

Vice-President, Rylde
Vice-President, Acacia Mason
Minister of Defence, klop123
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shoi12
Minister of Finance, Bryan Alexander.

STATE OF THE UNION

Opening Remarks

I didn't expect today to be so newsworthy so I am releasing an article today and will release another tomorrow. Today's is all business, tomorrow's will be thank-yous. As for the business, our tenants need help and our alliance is dead.

On co-operating with our tenants on their rental agreements...

We, eCanada, are landlords. We collect rent from tenants. We have two tenants. eSwitzerland (eSwiss or The Swiss) and eNetherlands (eNL or The Dutch).

The Swiss only have one region in-game. They consistently get wiped in Europe. Their enemies, eSlovenia, have tried to wipe them again by starting a RW in Alberta. Please support our tenants, and allies, by fighting for eSwitzerland here:
http://www.erepublik.com/en/military/battlefield/45582

The Dutch have more regions in-game, but their plan is to surrender their regions in Europe once they occupy their three regions under their rental agreement; NWT, Yukon and BC. They consistently lose their regions in Europe anyways, the want to mitigate the risk of getting wiped in a RW by getting a three region foothold in eCanada. They have occupied NWT in an airstrike earlier this month and they took Yukon this morning, now they are taking BC. Once they take BC, they will move a peace motion. For the time being, support our tenant, and allies, by fighting for eNetherlands here:
http://www.erepublik.com/en/military/battlefield/45584

Please support eSwiss and eDutch in the open battles. They pay us rent for these regions, they belong to them. We do not lose any tax revenue nor economic bonuses with these rental agreements, they are truly win/win agreements.

On the dissolution of the CoT Alliance...

This is the main event.

You know that moment where someone tells you that if you want to see someone before they die or if you want to say goodbye to them before they die, this is the time to act? Well this is one of those moments.

CoT is about to die. This morning I briefed congress on the issue, asking for a vote of confidence on the Alliance. I assumed there would be time to at least debate the issue. Then, in a tragic sequence of events, the alerts began streaming into my inbox. They were like a steady flow of blood coming from a mortal wound to the body of CoT:

During my CP campaign leading up to this term in office, I commited to putting forth an earnest effort in gaining membership into CoT for eCanada. We supported our CoT allies at war, they got wiped anyways. We reached rental agreements with CoT and pro-CoT allies, and still morale dropped. We set battle priorites per CoT HQ, but its not enough. None of this stopped the dominance of TWO/ACT. I did not anticipate such a complete feeling of defeat spreading throughout our alliance.

It was like I was watching a steady stream of people run out of a building, the metaphorical CoT, and I was holding myself to a campaign commitment to try and get in, fighting my way against people trying to get out. I asked myself, "Why am I going against the grain?" I decided, after limited consultations with congress, to move a motion to leave the alliance. There were two main reflections in my mind as I did this.

First, EDEN. EDEN was kept alive by a small number of nations for too long. It was dead, and the hope that they held out for it only served as a distraction and deterent, a barrier to entry if you will, for a replacement alliance. It is best to completely kill an alliance than to leave a shred of it around. Without complete unity, TWO will not be able to be opposed. Even then it may not work. But unity and solidarity will be key to pushing back TWO. CoT must not be a distraction to progress, it must end.

Second, my old political party, the Ministry of Opportunity. The shell of it remained for too long after its meaningful life was over. It was sad to see it linger around, serving no purpose, with any activity in it at all being a sleight against the activity that it was built for. I thank Shenanigans for finally snuffing it out.

I do not want CoT to die like EDEN nor the Ministry of Opportunity. I choose to let it die with dignity. Quickly. With its boots on.

Hail, CoT!

I will remember you fondly as I move forward with the friends I have made with your member nations.

Closing Remarks and Shameless Plugs...

The complexion of the upcoming CP election has changed significantly. The campaign platforms are much less relevant given the collapse of CoT today. Bear this in mind when you vote tomorrow.

Who's your daddy?
