[CP] Final words

Day 1,657, 05:44 Published in Belgium Belgium by eBelgian Presidency

Dear Belgians & friends,
Time for me to make a final article for you. It’s almost the end of “the mittekemuis administration” This month has been eventful but not memorable.

Cabinet

I want to thank my cabinet for doing their work. Nohjis has been a great VCP and as always a brilliant MoF. Cooke4444 is the best minister of fun you can have. Special thanks go to the immigration team they are often not recognised for the work they do but its an important part to keep our country safe. Djonydjo is more the silent worker but if I needed him he was there to help. BrunoCND as Minister of Defence was always willing to put in hours.
Again special thanks to Tecuvo because he gave BNA a good solid base to work with. I can honestly say that eBelgium has once more a national army to be proud of.

Of course not everything was brilliant and I must admit I have a few frustrations. I have the feeling there are few people in eBelgium who are willing to put in an effort. BrunoCND put in a contest for an update of the military graphics in the beginning of the month and I don’t think I have seen one reply let alone one attempt. The same with with my asking people to do an interview with important people in the eWorld... .
Volunteers willing to do the citizen programs are not plentiful. Yes, a few people have stepped up and the positions are filled but I think it is a missed opportunity for some to become more involved. My heart bleeds when I see eBelgium has no longer a well established MoFA department. I see no articles that explain foreign affairs other than the occasional ones Viridi publishes. I have seen no tutorials whatsoever in any of the playing modules.

I can’t stop wondering where I went wrong. I think the saying: “A teacher is only as good as his weakest student” is true in this case. I am sure I did not put enough energy into pushing people to do more. I did not take matters into my own hands as I might have done some time ago.

Our position

So we regained our neutral position so many of you wanted. We have MPPs with Brazil and China and on the other hand Macedonia and UK. Recently we have signed an MPP with Japan. They are a small country just as we are.
The pros and cons of being neutral have been debated at length on our national forum, for those who wish to read up about it. I see it as a lost opportunity because with choosing a side you have a clear path. You belong to the bigger game instead of being a pacifist in a war game. The threat of an invasion is always imminent, especially with our Northern neighbours who do view this game as a war game and could benefit from gaining our regions. No neutrality is going to save us from that, and I doubt Belgium will get help from TEDEN countries if they do decide invading Belgium is fun again. You just have to look at the MPPs eNL signs to see what I mean.

Upcoming elections

The summer is knocking on our doors and, as we see every year, people tend to be less available for playing this game and want to enjoy the outdoors. Many of the established citizens who served in previous administrations are due for a well deserved rest. I can only say; have a nice eRepublik holiday boys and girls.

On the candidates list we can see two serious candidates. On one hand there is GoopyPants who is running for the Om party. He has the support from Res Belgica and Belgium for Belgians.
Our second candidate is A Vegan who is running for H.O.P.E and has the support from ATO.

The big difference between those two candidates is that GoopyPants wants a very calm month without any adventures and A Vegan will go and look for a training war. Their so called manifestos or platforms can be found in the media. I hope their activity during the month is going to be more than their manifestos suggest.

So folks that is it from me. I invite you to give me feedback on this month. You don’t have to spare me as I don’t spare others. The only way to improve is to listen and learn.

Yours truly,
