[CP Announcement 2] Ranger's views reloaded.

Day 1,803, 21:19 Published in Australia Australia by Ranger Bob

So,

Thanks for those who have been supportive since I recently announced my intention to seek support to run. The community response has been good, and while I am still waiting on a couple of people to get back to me on whether they would like to be a part of my gov this term, I'll just keep plodding on.

I also apologise, I usually don't use pretty pictures to make people read my posts (SORRY HENRY).

I have broken it down into points, so you can look for the things you want to read and TL😉R the rest as you want.

But I'm going to try to avoid sugar words and will try to be very direct in this one about what I actually think.

This article covers 4 topics:

1. FORUM VS EREP

2. NOT FIGHTING/WORKING MAKES YOU A...

3. FOREIGN POLICY

4. DEALS.

FIRSTLY: FORUM VS EREP/WHATEVER.

My run is NOT about the forums. They are a tool, nothing more. But as I've been drawn in to it looking like that, fine - here is my view.

Some people like IRC, some don't. Some like articles in game, some don't. Some like the forums/some don't. Use whatever means floats your boat.

But the forums shouldn't be destroyed as they help people talk through stuff outside articles and without people using IRC.

If there is a whinge about how they are not representative, well make them so. Get more people on there and use the, as the tool for which they are intended.

That is NOT bloody rocket science.

SECONDLY: NOT FIGHTING/WORKING MAKES YOU A....

If you don't fight every day, or can't fund yourself to be a big hitter, SO WHAT? Just stay active.

I would rather 20 people doing low damage occasionally, and wanting to stay around in our community and contributing how ever they want to, than one big hitter.

You are not the same as any person who pulls a PTO if you want to be here and build this community in any way. End of story.

Numbers will be what we win on in the long run. We need more people. And with all the bullcrap infighting going on, who'd wanna stay?

eRep may have very much focussed on the military module in game, and ways of making you want to spend gold to keep up with the joneses, but it is also a place to come hang and enjoy yourself.

Too many people take this game way too seriously.

THIRDLY: FOREIGN POLICY

eAus on it's own cannot turn the tide to protect ourselves. THAT is pure math, and we don't have enough people with credit cards or a population currently active to change it. (DUH).

It is shown through our history time and time and time again. And is more often than not little to do with who is charge at the time, and any deals.

These things fall through all the time, where we're either backstabbed, accused of backstabbing or other countries have their own agenda in interference. I'm not saying sometimes we've made bad choices at the top level, but not always with a bad intent.

Yet we make out that things like the so called illuminati or elites of this game cause the problem. Sheesh. Our problem goes to a more basic level than this faceless group, assuming there is one.

And, why wasn't I invited (probably cos I'd tell em where to shove it). 😛

Things like an ambassador program are great as it is way too much to expect one (hell even two) people to keep across what is changing in every country all the time. Information is power, so fingers need to be kept on the pulse and we should make sure if there is a chance to get our names out there we can capitalise on it.

I am looking at shifting to join ANY alliance unless YOU want to.

If an offer is made, or an opportunity is there to, I will ask via an article in game, and arrange a means for you to have your voice to make the decision. It will not be because a small group decides as it AFFECTS ALL OF YOU.

Again, this is NOT rocket science 101.

FOURTHLY: DEALS...

Seems to be there are a few diff takes on this. Here's some of 'em:

1. Should we be looking at deals where in return for say NSW, Tas and SA we will agree not to pursue our other regions, usually for some unspecified time in the future. This is usually coupled with agreement not to participate in fights against the country so graciously handing us some of our regions back.

2. Let's somehow mystically convince all our other international buddies or others to come help us get regions back and prioritise us over their OWN worries. Then, prioritise us whenever inevidably the focus goes off us again and we just get eaten with our arses handed to us on a platter.

3. Lets worry LESS about winning the battles, and more on winning the WAR.

I subscribe to the 3rd option. Sure, 2. is a worthwhile thing, but how many times have we just complained allies wouldn't help us and then gone down the gurgler again.

I also don't think land swaps a such a great thing for the same reason. Yeah they have some short term value, but invariably they then become perceived as occupation and go out the window. Such deals don't last for long.

We don't like not having our regions. Why would others long term?

I'm not saying I don't want to win these battles, and you'll see me up there fighting with the best of them many times.

But really it is like jerking off - makes you feel good for a little bit then the reality of day to day kicks in until next time. Apologies for the analogy but that's the way it is 😛

WHAT WE NEED TO DO I RECKON, IS BE BETTER COORDINATED.

IF WE CAN SHOW EAUS HITS AS A COUNTRY, IT WILL MAKE TALKING WITH THESE ALLIES SO MUCH EASIER.

BECAUSE WE CAN SHOW.... WE WALK THE WALK.

I understand MoD has a full list of all our hitters by regions. I want to find out how many at what Division we have. It is obvious from so many battles where the majority of our hitting lies - and these people are generally funded well from their MU or ADF. Then, with no regard to whether they are in an MU or ADF I want the MoD to work with known eAus and o/s MUs to better use our Division power across these units to hit.

MoD and ADF need a lot of support to do this, so I want them to actually recruit people to help.

I will also give these people FULL AUTHORITY to make whatever changes are required to the Military to implement this.

In fact, I will demand their changes be implemented.

Finally:

I would prefer a community that does not give up and KEEPS fighting, than bends over to be screwed again.

It was this attitude that helped build our community up over time - hitting over 700 actives in eAus when we first secured our full country back from eIndo. And in the end it wasn't a deal with them that did it.

I think it is better to die on your feet than live on your knees.

READ THIS IF YOU ARE SKIPPING THROUGH:

UNDER MY TERM THERE WILL BE NO, I REPEAT, NO DEAL TO TRADE OFF SOME OF OUR REGIONS FOR OUR REGIONS. PERIOD.

I might lose votes for that, but in the short term I am not going to just make you all happy we have something back where either during or two days after my term, or at some unspecified point in the future you just lose it again.

I think we need to start getting mobilised, and refocus our infighting to something we can all rally for.

We want a bigger country, we want to have any new person seeing that yeah we may disagree on a lot of shit, but we want our country back.

NEXT TIME ON TL😉R:

My next article will describe cabinet and government administration. Cabinet itself will be small, but in the absence of a senate I want oversight with people in an oversight role, appointed through existing and other voting means, to make sure you are clear I am not a dictator.

Consultation FTW.

Ranger.
