[Congress] Speaker's Report #1

Day 2,747, 09:59 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Speaker of the House

It has been about three and a half days since Congress took their seats, a fair bit has been done in that time and we’ve also had our fair share of congressmen hijacking the threads with their own petty nonsense; I will detail a solution to that as well as a roundup of everything that has been going on.

This was the Bill that I briefly mentioned in my previous article, originally proposed by VoodooMike71 in the last congress, now resurrected by Karacticus.

The original text of the Bill can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cG0geEG-XQefRAPfBwZlXhD5SyKN6W809H3pPgthuJE/edit#

I proposed an amendment to congress to address some of the issues with clarity that I saw with the bill, as well as make a change to the way in which ‘trusted persons’ would be selected by congress. After a debate the Amendment was put to a vote at the 24hr point of the 48hr debate time allocated to this bill:

As ya can see it passed 11-3, so the amended text looks like this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vtMlDKX6DLcftQn6p9mPRJQTSMPwtOXfkYfZcILm4Jc/edit#

Voting has now begun on the full bill, which will last for 48hrs.

I received 8 Congress members put themselves forwards for the committee, which will be responsible for doing background checks on applicants and then issuing a recommendation to Congress on whether to accept or deny. Each Congress member had 5 votes to pick who they wanted to sit on the committee, with the 5 with the most votes sitting on it.

The results were as follows:

So Aultman, Rob the Bruce, Aaron Mark Daniels, Pannonian Nomad and perilouspanther were elected to the committee. They have already begun work setting up a new CS application form after the one we had died with Lord of Bones’ being banned.

This was proposed by King William the Great this morning, and its debate has officially begun in Congress though unfortunately debate was hijacked this afternoon by one congress member airing a petty grievance over the CS system; this bill focuses on changing the current setup to one where the CP is handed the Dictatorship on the 6th of every month and is expected to hand it over to the next at the end of their term.

The Bill in its entirety can be viewed here: imgur.com/1wKPlVU.png (taken from the PM where Will introduced it)

To close this report, I won’t go into intricate detail of what was said in Congress unless the congress member involved wants to bring it up again and make himself look foolish- that isn’t my main concern, what does concern me is the way in which PMs are so easily sidetracked from the intended topic; this happened both this afternoon and yesterday evening. To try and ease this, I’ll be experimenting with a slightly different PM system when I remake them later this evening- this will see all congressmen in at least two PMs, to try and make individual debates easier to follow.

Next article will be the first report specifically geared towards assessing the activity and voting attendance of all congress members and highlighting some good/bad contributions. This will be out some time in the middle of next week I would think.

Thanks for making it this far if you managed it o/
