[CN] Hello eChina!

Day 1,554, 03:35 Published in China China by mihail.cazacu

As I have explained in my citizenship application, the Media Module is the one of the few things still keeping me in this game. The Media Module helped me get in-game friends from all over the world, and without it there would be little reason to waste time with eRepublik.

After the Admins have stupidly changed the way the Media Module works, it became impossible to publish articles in other countries without being the citizen of that country.

Right before this modification was introduced I used to publish my newspaper in eChina from time to time (the older players remember my tutorials and articles on strategy).

So when I thought it was time to start publishing in the Chinese media again, I did what was required by game mechanics and applied for citizenship.

Boy, that was a very long and complicated procedure! It took almost 5 days to go through it.

However I do understand why this process is so complicated today.

A few months ago some "smart" foreigners decided it would be a good idea to enter the Chinese Congress without the permission of the Chinese players. They also did so in Brazil and in some other eCountries around the eWorld, with the result the immigration procedures became awfully long.

There are several excuses those foreigners bring forward for their impolite behavior:

1. "We fought for eChina/eBrazil, we have spent zillions of gold in battles so that eChina/eBrazil can have colonies and bonuses. Therefore we are entitled to benefit from those resources".

Yes, this is often very true. People have spent gold fighting on eChina/eBrazil side. And the way to benefit from those bonuses you have helped eChina/eBrazil acquire is to get citizenship. You don't have to also get into the Congress in eChina/eBrazil for that.

2. "The applications take too long to be processed. If I were in the Congress I would grant citizenships to my trusted friends much faster. I wouldn't bring enemies into eChina/eBrazil, I would only bring people who, like myself, fight for eChina/eBrazil".

Yes, this is often the case as well. There are some idiots who simply want to become Congressmen in order to start making money by selling citizenships.

But most of the time the only reason for wanting to be in the Congress is the desire to speed up the approval of the citizenships for people who would be loyal to EDEN/Terra/eChina/eBrazil.

There is however a problem with this approach: China/Brazil is not your Real Life country. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do".

If it takes too long to get an application approved, that's how things are and it is up to the Real Life Chinese/Brazilians to change the way their "Immigration Department" works.

The rest of us fought for eChina/eBrazil because we are allies. If we spent extra gold it was because we wanted to. If we spent Real Money for that gold it was because we wanted to. But that doesn't make us Real Life Chinese/Brazilians. Therefore we're only guests in eChina/eBrazil, not legitimate congress candidates.

For those who would love to say "but this is a f*king game, so why should Real Life matter?" the answer is simple: this is indeed a f*king game, but it is played by real human beings.

And most of the real human beings playing eRepublik identify with their Real Life countries. Therefore most of the real human beings playing this game do care if a foreigner enters their Congress with their approval or against their will.

I hope this clarifies the reasons why things are like they are when it comes to getting citizenships in some TEDEN countries.

As for my part in the issue of the elections in eChina: the eChinese government can count on my support whenever there is the need to vote against a PTO attempt. I would follow the eChinese media to the extent Google Translate helps me. But if you need a vote in a particular region, please PM me and I'd gladly help.

So hello eChina, it's good to be back here!
