[CN] Ending the Mexican standoff

Day 1,555, 10:32 Published in China China by mihail.cazacu

This is the second day of the Bulgarian-Turkish "Mexican standoff"

For those who are wondering what a Mexican standoff is, a picture is probably more descriptive than 1000 words:

Up until now both the Bulgarian and the Turkish congressmen have had the wisdom to reject the first reciprocal declarations of Natural Enemy.

The problem is that each congressman can pass 2 laws during his term. Judging from the votes "YES" , each side has around 15 "merry men" who could keep proposing such NE laws every day. Those guys don't care if everybody else, including their colleagues who vote "NO", are horrified by this brainless little game. They will end their terms in 2 days, before they could end all their possibilities to propose one more NE. 4 T3H LULZ, of course!

So is there any possibility to put an end to this charade before something really idiotic happens?!

Yes, it is, and Turkey has the key. The Turkish congressmen can refrain from answering with a NE, no matter if the Bulgarians can calm down their trigger-happy guys or not.

Let's weight in the situation:

1) If somehow the Bulgarian NE passes, Bulgaria would attack Turkey. On that occasion Bulgaria would automatically lose all the MPPs she has in common with Turkey.

Even though Bulgaria would start signing her MPPs back with the other EDEN and Terra countries, those MPPs will be automatically lost the next day, should Bulgaria continue to attack.

2) Turkey, on the other hand, has the ability to match Bulgaria one-on-one. In addition to that, even if the rest of EDEN and Terra remain neutral, there will always be some 2-clickers from there, some mercenaries and some medal hunters, bringing in some extra damage on the Turkish side.

3) With Bulgaria and Turkey at each other's throats, ONE will attack all the other EDEN countries.

Since both the Bulgarian and the Turkish damage would be eliminated from TEDEN's side, ONE would have an advantage of over 1 BILLION damage.

Practically everybody from TEDEN will be wiped out by ONE while Bulgaria and Turkey have their fun together.

So why exactly should the Turks stop proposing the NE since everybody would be screwed anyway if the Bulgarian NE gets voted?

For two reasons:

1. Everybody gets screwed anyway even if the Bulgarian NE is answered by a Turkish NE;

2. The Turks at least show they are doing something for diffusing the conflict instead of escalating it. It would have been better not to get here in the first place. But once the fire is burning, pouring gasoline over it isn't helping at all.

Let's hope everything goes well while preparing for the worst.
