[Boh] The Impending War: The Balkan Bastion

Day 2,006, 02:38 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Bohemond4

Dear friends and readers

Today I start a series where look around the world at developments in the relationship of CoTWO, in particular focusing on regions of the world with regard to the oncoming war. Today, I start with the alliance that the UK is part of: TWO, in particular the region I have dubbed the Balkan Bastion.

The 'Balkan Bastion' refers, literally, to the Balkan regions dominated by several powerful nations, these are: Serbia, Hungary, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria and to a lesser extent Slovenia and Turkey. The key to holding this region is in the balance of power any group of nations has.

The Balkan Region referred to in this article, you can see Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Slovenia and Turkey - Macedonia is currently wiped

This Bastion is essential in any war between the main alliances as it brings together a staggering amount of powerful nations. During World War V One relied on control of this region to beat TEDEN's power via Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia and Turkey against Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece. This fell apart with Turkey switching sides giving the balance of power to TEDEN temporarily before Bulgaria flipped to the other side forming CoT with Chile. CoTWO dominated EDEN with Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia and Hungary with Slovenian support against Croatia, Romania, Greece and Turkey.

This region has always been the key to assisting in global domination, although only one nation has had any lasting success in keeping their main rival nation down for a long period of time. With recent developments, and as they continue to develop, TWO currently holds the balance of power in the Balkan Bastion creating a fortress from which nations like Hungary, Serbia, Greece and Romania can strike out and enlarge their own, and therefore, TWO's empire. With the Greek attack on Bulgaria, the pressure on Romania will be lifted allowing them to regain the initiative and once more expelling Bulgaria from the Balkans.

One of the main powerbases for TWO currently surely can be called the Balkan Bastion, for CoT to properly damage TWO they needed to keep the balance of power in this region in their favour, something that events are, and have, proven to be less likely to happen. With this bastion, TWO can suffer setbacks in Serbian colonies in France and Italy, even being pushed back, but ultimately they will be able to bounce back from this fortress.

How can CoT, therefore, lay down damage and infringe on the Bastion? The answer lies in Resistance Wars and gaining the initiative against TWO once they have freed conquered regions, as I will detail later gaining the initiative will be the key to victory for each alliance based on the time zones of their respective Fortresses. How can TWO beat this then? By winning these Resistance Wars, or, failing that, winning the coin toss and using their superior European Day Damage to crush CoT forces into submission.

Ultimately, with the addition of Greece and Romania, even without, if they choose to do so, Turkey, TWO controls the Balkan Bastion and therefore the entire of Eastern Europe which, when added to the Polish Hegemony and Spanish Empire sees TWO control the entirety of one continent. This Bastion is a crucial part of any alliances success as it sees the largest concentration of home regions for powerful nations in the eworld, more so than the Americas. It is here that the balance will be the most hotly contested, and it is here that TWO has the advantage, the power and the Base from which to strike out against the world.

tl;dr?
- Balkans key to victory
- need allies to hold
- TWO power base
- fortress from which to launch strikes and negate set-backs

Thank you for reading, please vote, subscribe and shout. My next article will be a discussion on the Polish Hegemony and how this helps TWO's control over Europe.
