[Boh] Feb-March 2013 Term - Congress Update 1

Day 1,929, 13:53 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Bohemond4

Greetings friends, voters and everyone else!

I am here to do what I promised to do, and what I did last time I was in Congress, that is, provide you with regular updates on Congress.

There are 2 main areas that I intend to discuss today: the first will be the laws passed since the election the second will be a general overview of the main discussions in Congress and other initiatives undertaken by members of the public with regards to Congress.

VAT & Import Taxes: Food
proposed by Massacar which intend to lower VAT to 5% from 7% leaving Import Tax at 75%. As there has been no discussion on this, I chose to vote NO as I felt that, to change the taxation rate requires a little more thought than pressing buttons.

The change was rejected, 27 against to 10 for, 37 votes were cast.

Alliance with Slovenia
Slovenia, not to be confused with Slovakia, is a member state of TWO (our alliance, stands for The World is Ours comprised of us, Poland, Spain, Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia). I voted yes to this due to our relationship with this nation.
Passe😛 37 in favor, 0 against. 37 total votes cast.

Alliance with Macedonia
One of the most powerful nations in Circle of Trust (CoT) an allied alliance, they are solid friends that we should have on side. MPP's are a reminder of our friendship.
Vote passed, 36 in favor and 1 opposed.

President Impeachment of Richard Feist
Proposed by BigAnt, PP of the UKPP
This was scheduled due to the inactivity of Richard and his handing over of power to 5Butjam. However, 5Butjam has announced elsewhere to Congress that he was not interested in becoming President and that he was not seeking to impeach RFeist. Therefore, due to a request by the acting CP (the guy to benefit) I voted NO to this proposal.
The vote is likely to fail with 25 in favor and 13 opposed. Total of 38 votes cast.

Right, thats the boring stuff done.

Now, on to the fun stuff! First up, we now have an interesting discussion on taxes here due to Iain Keers' proposal which you can contribute to.

Woldy also asked all of Congress to fill in a form due to some ideas he has had on government. His findings and proposals can be found over here. 37 congress members responded to the survey, ideally we should have had all 40.

We have also been discussing various alternatives for war, including the following options: France, Belgium and Norway in the coming term. Thanks to our current administration all are possibles and can be launched should we need to do so. For those who do not know, due to a recent treaty between France, Serbia, Poland and the UK France has been granted 3 regions to exist with. 1-2 of which border, or will border, us hence meaning we can fight them. So, as you can see the current administration has had our True Patriot medals in mind and ready for us next month!
