[Boh] An Informative Guide To The House Of Commons - Part 3: All Things Forum

Day 1,995, 22:02 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Bohemond4

Dear friends and readers,

Welcome to the third part of my serious titled ‘An Informative Guide To The House Of Commons.’ Here I will discuss the forums, legislation and the role of a budding young Parliamentarian on the IRC.

The Forum Halls

While the message chains are great for quick updates and short discussions, essentially the best single place for discussions are the eUK Forums where we members of Parliament can meet and discuss everything and anything pertinent to the nation where all members can meet together and discuss in private everything we need to do. This provides a proper record to our MP’s of the past discussions meaning we can continue where a previous Parliament left of on a contentious issue.

This image shows the sensitive forums that, as Members of Parliament, you get access to. This is found under the Public Discussion sub forum. Inside here you will find debates and the like where MPs can discuss and talk together. I strongly recommend that, as MPs, you use this media as much as possible as it makes things easier.

If you do not use it, then get an account and check this for updates. Discussion all together is key to a successful and effective Parliament.

Internet Relay Chat

So, you have probably come across IRC at some point in your elife. This is a slightly dated system, but one that still comes in useful. Here we have our own IRC Channel: #parliament, where we can also meet and discuss through laws and proposals together. You get to know your fellow MPs and hang out with them chatting about a whole load of stuff.

Legislation

The subject of massive criticism by many people, hailed as success by others, the purpose of legislation was to govern and regulate the way the Government, Parliament and the Military did things. This included discussions on proposed Law changes, removal of Ministers by the public, who got access to what levels on the forums and how to remove HM Woldy I (who is now King for Life and cannot be removed after the repealing of the Monarchy Act).

A recent criticism of Parliament from within Parliament has been a spate of undiscussed law proposals that might actually be good ideas, but without discussion we choose not to vote on them. Legislation is, and was, important in ensuring that we had some form of protocol.

Now, any MP or member of the public can propose legislation/changes as long as it is sponsored. Then Parliament spends a time discussing it before voting on it, either ingame or on the forums. This is then recorded and passed, or not as the case may be.
