[Austria]Coming and Going...
A Term in Review: What we've managed to accomplish thus far
Just as a side note, whoever is doing Foreign Affairs, please renew our MPP with Indonesia, or at least add one for protection. This is getting rather odd since ours expires in roughly 18 hours.
Since I've moved to Austria, here's a small list of the things we've managed to do thus far, where I feel like we've succeeded and where I feel like we've fallen short.
Foreign Affairs
Our Foreign Affairs have been something of a Oreo Cookie this term. We've got decent relations within our own alliance, although have pursued more talks with Neutral countries. Switzerland (according to Rangeley's most recent article), Czech Republic, and Italy were the main focus of the term, while war raged on around the World. Austrian's sat at home during the conflict (unless you were part of the PEACEKeepers or chose to go of your own accord). This was mainly due to a philosophy of neutrality within the alliance, in the mindset of only being present during defensive manuevers.
We did manage to make a solid contribution (although highly contested) to the PEACEKeepers, through both high skilled/ranked soldiers and Gold, which is a definite bonus and we're greatful for. Overall, we've remained a strong participant within PEACE in the diplomatic stage, while reducing military involvement.

Domestic Affairs
For my part, the ATS has been steady at it's current rates for the last three weeks (after money printing made it a bit more possible), our treasury is slowly gaining weight, although our production and various markets are still hurting. We haven't made all that much headway, although since Austria is low tax and low stress, it hasn't been a major issue.
Congressional voting surely doesn't look all that huge, with only 8 people voting on the CZ Statement, although in game voting hasn't been all that required. We'll see various tax proposals this term, some planned, some not, but I don't see them making tons of difference until we make some headway on which type of country we want (aka do we want to provide employment Nationally or not).

Military
Our military has looked decent, but not great. We partake in the Training War, however most of our higher level troops are in the PEACEkeepers so it only benefits civilians. Being that I haven't seen much from the Defense side of things, I don't know how organised it is, although I'm sure Rangeley has a better idea.

Overall Grading
My only concern thus far is that we haven't really done anything of substance. We are still trying to get people into the forums so that isn't our major form of communication, the IRC usually only has a couple of active people in it, and we're not making a ton of headway on any decisions. It seems that we're as of yet undecided to which direction we want to or need to take to improve. Perhaps we need someone who will simply make a decision. I'm not really sure, however, it has been a solid term thus far. Sometimes not making mistakes is better than making too many, I suppose.

Until next time,

'our higher level troops are in the PEACEkeepers'
Current government don't support the PEACEKeepers, so, they're fighting as renegades
"It seems that we're as of yet undecided to which direction we want to or need to take to improve."

Completly agreed. Just like another big countries, we've got too many thinkers and few performers. I completly agree with you when you said we need to establish our goals and at the same time we need someone to make a decision.
We've been discussing the same thing (help PEACE or not, or stronger or weaker ATS) but too few things has changed thus far.
Great article, as always.

I second all of this, and as a metter of fact, I second the whole article
I am currently handling Foreign Affairs, but only the president can propose and MPP. Therefore, the ball is in Rangeley's court on this one.

I second the 'seconding' too.
Great article.
Looks like someone really cares.
I don't see a "big decision" making much of a difference. The elite does what they want anyway and the civilian base is too small to make a difference internationally (the whole of eAustria had a participation of 134 last congress election). Really, all we do is purely symbolic. You can have the best economic or forreign affair policy, but it won't matter for 140 citizens. I'm all in favour of taking matters into hands, but I really think you overestimate our capabilities.
@Elasias: I do not overestimate the capability of our population, but merely it's participation and communication at times. Just because we are small, we can be proud as well as productive in various ways. I have known many small countries to be very powerful and influential, a goal I would like to see realised for Austria.
Dishmcds for queen!
