Uphill Both Ways in the Snow
My first real job of any merit in this game was a government job called Director of Mass Messaging. This was back in V1, early 2011, around the time of either Josh Frost's second term or PigInZen's first. I can't quite remember. This was before the summer of V2, before Emericka became a Dioist nation, and before this game arguably went to hell in a hand-basket. There were the good old days you often hear about. And I was still unknown as hell, just a little member of Eagles Militia who really wanted a government job.

I was given a shit job in order to prove myself. This was before I knew that there were scripts out there that could just Mass Message automatically, and so I sometimes spent hours doing this job of mine. I compiled a couple of lists, I learned how to use Google Docs, and I burnt out before the term was even over. I was in over my head doing a job that was nearly impossible with people who didn't care that I was doing it.

I left the game for a spell, then came back and joined SEES. And I tried and tried again to get upwards traction within the party. But I was unskilled and forgettable, and soon joined UIP. I started interviewing POTUS candidates monthly; that's actually how I started garnering the most subs to my paper each month. It was a good plan, and I got relative fame from it.

And then I got a break. One of my good friends asked me to be his VPP. This was huge step, and I gained a lot of traction within the UIP.

I wrote more. I began to ghost write for presidents. I actually wrote the entirety of Colin's acceptance article when he won POTUS. Again, all work and very little credit. Things started to look up for me in the UIP. IRC became a thing. I was given access to secret channels and invite to know people in real life.

I ran for Congress, and I won.

I ran for PP, and I lost. I ran a second time, and I won.

I covered and was involved with that other time we all got POTUS fever. I analyzed taxes. I helped squash a revolution. And I spent the winters months making games and trouble and fun with friends.

And I worked hard.

You may be wondering why I'm telling you all this, why I'm trotting out old times. It's because we've forgotten.

There was a time in this country where you had to work very hard to get noticed because there was notable competition inside every party, Top 5 and otherwise. There was a time when you had to fight just for the privilege of getting to do other people's hard work. POTUS elections were insane. Speculation, backroom politiking, and mastermind publicity stunts were standard fare. We had a country that was active, and thriving, and people wanted to lead.

We have come to a point where none of that is true any longer.

We sit around, with the "old players" talking about who should do it this month or next month. We forget that the mid-level players, the players who lived and made it through V2 and other times and still stayed at this country's side are by this time actually qualified enough to lead.

We are an old country.

The Feds are the only party that has enough activity to even field two candidates anymore. You wanna talk about party primaries being a big deal? Think back to the times when individual parties had to settle on just one candidate to propose and then try and wrangle the others with it.

Today, we have a sad shadow of what that was, an impotent shade of the game we used to play.

It's not that our parties are dead, my friends. It's that we no longer care.

We don't care to be as kind to new players as we once were. We barely care when this country gets wiped. It's just a thing that happens, and we have to deal with it. We allowed ourselves to fall into a groove of complacency, and it is time for that to change.

Every single person in my cabinet this month can do the job. And if they don't, my policy will be to tell them to get their shit together or get out of office.

I will not tolerate coasting on laurels. There will be no attempts to just make it work or glide on by. Now is the time to bring ourselves back out of the slump and work.



The Platform
A baby boom is my number one priority this month, but for that to occur will take some other things. First and foremost among them will be the eUSA's First Government Sponsored IRL Meet Up. It's time we got to know the people we're playing with.

Second will be the formation of the Department of Human Resources and a little something I like to call ArameCare©. The main focus of the Interior department will be to expand and promote Bank Up 2 Strength Up in a way that has never been done before. I will be looking at the Easy Company model of helping soldiers to get their TG in order for a base line of where to start.

Which brings me to my third, and perhaps most controversial point in terms of what we will be doing domestically and in terms of the military: I will attempt to get Divisions 1-2 to stop fight for a month and focus solely on strength training.

Our 3rd and 4th Division fighters will, of course, remain active. We cannot simply abandon our allies, and I do not intend in the least to dissolve or dissatisfy CoT. This is a long term investment plan, people: if we can get the portion of our military, the part primarily including newer players, to think of this game in a different way and incentive them for doing so, then we will have accomplished something very strong for future leaders. The Militia Freeze of Divisions 1 and 2 is a necessity, and will by no means be uninteresting for those who participate.

A preliminary timeline of the baby boom is as follows:
Nov. 5-8: Discussion and formation of the Department of Human Resources and planning for the Militia Freeze, date agreed upon for real life meetup as well as selection of places to meet up.
Nov. 9-10: Formation of recruitment teams is made, all parties must respond with their list of recruiters.
Nov. 11: Nationwide recruitment begins.

I fully entrust Melissa Rose to crack necks and kick the ass of any of my cabinet members who do not fulfill their responsibilities. That being said, I fully understand the toll that real life takes upon people. RL > eRep has always been something I firmly believe in, and if such a situation ends up occurring, it will be dealt with in an understanding manner.

Real Life should always take precedence over the game. But if you're in this game, and you're on my team, you're gonna be working hard.

Games, article competitions, that's all well and good. But now is not the time for simple mob entertainment.

Now is the time for America, once again, rise up to the old Dioist notion that we can do better and make things more enjoyable.

Now is the time to get our house in order.
