[ACroc4CP] Firm Foundations pt2 & Domestics

Day 1,986, 03:52 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Ayame Crocodile

Hello again,

This is the second part of my series of articles explaining my ideas about how best to set up a successful government and today I will be building on the framework I explained in my article from yesterday ’Firm Foundations part one’. In that article I started explaining the very basics of what I believe makes a successful and well running government, Outlining my style of management and how I think this has a positive effect on everyone involved in the government and which hopefully will have a tangible difference for everyone else in the eUK as well.

Today as promised I will be discussing the last couple of points in the set up and move on to discussing in depth my domestic proposals and policies. But before we get onto that I would like to ask everyone who is interested in getting involved in my government if I am elected to apply by clicking the apply button below. It will lead you to a quick outline of the rough responsibilities of each role which is intended to give you a better idea of what to expect, Though it isn’t by any means exhaustive and should you be successful as promised you will receive a private message from my self in the coming week detailing in far more depth what I would like you to do.

This doesn’t mean you can’t throw your own take or ideas into the mix as well, By all means ingenuity and innovation are very much welcome. So please take a few minutes to apply, And of course if you already know what you would like to get involved in then feel free to skip the definitions of each role and just head straight on over to the application form.

And thank you to everyone who has and will apply, I hope to be able to work with as many of you as possible, fingers crossed I get the chance!

There is very little point in spending hours on getting a good framework set up only to then put rather sub par or ineffective ministers into it. The whole point of spending time and effort on making sure that a good and productive environment in place is to provide the perfect framework is in place for people to work in. Making sure that there is enough guidance and having a personal desire for better communication, more transparency and accountability would be all for naught if I was then to populate the government itself with a select clique of people. Undermining the original aims so early on really isn’t very palatable an idea for me. And although I would like to think this principle goes for all potential Prime Ministerial Candidates it’s best not to just assume and to state the obvious.

For ministers this is easily shown by past experience and time expended doing work which everyone has seen, For deputies and new workers elsewhere in government it isn’t quite as obvious as knowing the name from having done a lot of work in recent months or having a broad eCV. But it isn’t hard to see enthusiasm and intelligence.

And the only way for this kind of meritocracy to exist is for the person making the decisions to treat each applicant as an individual, To ignore any apparent attachments to a military unit or political party and instead focus solely on that person's ability and drive to get done what needs to be done and to go above and beyond the call.

What I am saying here is that anyone who applies to work in any position will be pitted against other applicants only and entirely on just their own merits as an individual.

This, in my opinion, needs to be addressed desperately. Congress has been given a rather important position and rightly or wrongly it remains in the position of acting as representatives of some greater will. However there is no way that some ambiguous notion of what the general population wants is of any use when it isn’t truly known and those in congress are selected and elected to their roles purely by the virtue of being in a political party.

The problem isn’t Congress’ fault, Game mechanics just go that way sometimes. Yet it is not fair to treat decisions made by a relatively uninformed congress as the will of the average citizen.

To address this I would like to point to something many of you may have already noticed in my Definition of the Roles document that you are directed to before applying to my possible government. That is the Office of National Statistics section, which will have a few interesting things to try out this term and is more of a temporary solution to meet my proposed aims then any attempt to change the makeup of the eUK’s governing bodies.

One main task I will be asking the ONS to undertake is that of performing public opinion polls on safe topics being discussed by Congress. Firstly this gives Congress the chance to have a bit of insight into what we are all thinking about a certain topic, It also gives everyone a chance to have a bit more of a say.

We all have a vested interest in how our nation is run and I would like to provide as many routes to get involved and have a say as possible in a constructive and hopefully interesting manner.

With some sense of accountability through opinion polls in place. It’s important to provide as much data to everyone before they make a decision one way or the other. To do this we need to be remembering that a large part of the Governments job is to not just allow and take into account feedback from everyone but to make sure that everyone has the information they need.

And whilst this for the most part comes down to good communication from the ministries and myself it’s also a good idea to allow everyone access to as many materials that the government itself is using to make decisions as well.

Of course there are some areas and topics which can’t be made public until after the event, we all know that, but there are so many where it is perfectly fine and really should be out there be being pushed so that everyone can understand the situation and why decisions have been taken as possible.

Therefore all Censuses, Opinion Polls, Finance Reports, Discussions etc. that can safely be made public will be. Simple as that. It’s something I’ve pushed for a long time and I won’t be letting this possible opportunity to get it done myself slip me by.

Now I don’t mean to disparage the hard work of many people, because I have honestly enjoyed reading a lot of the articles coming out of ministries and I do think they have helped inform not just myself but a lot of other people, but my issue is the quantity and quality of articles at times.

It’s all well and good stating that there will be more articles, But will there be more information and things of interest involved, or instead will they be just short summaries of rundowns pushed out far too quick?

Well I would like to curtail this trend a little bit by having ministers work to a more regular rota of articles. Which gives more time and allows the ministers to take time to delve into further depth on topics than they have had in the past. Now don’t get me wrong some people are article factories and incredibly manage to maintain a high level of quality, yet the new world doesn’t always have enough information to warrant an article every couple of days on the same topic or department.

So instead of having everyone being hit with constant below standard articles or just rehashing of information I will be instead doing round ups from every department on a regular basis. Ministries will publish deeper articles on a regular rota, For example Ministry of Finance reports on a Wednesday, Ministry of Home Affairs reports on a Thursday etc.

There are of course some exceptions to this most notably the Ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs and Education. The MoD will still be expected to publish orders regularly, MoFA will of course be encouraged to publish articles detailing current events if it is warranted and the MoEd will be getting guides out for new players as often as can be so long as they aren’t becoming a nuisance or falling below standard.

*Positions given on merit and merit alone
*Informing congress and allowing everyone more say
*Transparency and Information for all
*Less empty articles but more in depth on a rota
*Regular round ups from ministries in a single article

Right well that is me done for today and covers most of my domestic policies, Though there is still one or two to go over.

I hope it’s been a bit more interesting than yesterday’s article and the big one is still to look forward to tomorrow when I release my Foreign Affairs policies.

Thank you once again and See you soon,
