With the recent addition of the daily Bazooka/Energy Bar bonus for completing Military Unit missions, it is now possible for any Citizen to attempt a Battle Hero medal.

However, without a sound method, a weaker player can blow his wad foolishly. 16 Shells would like to provide the following:

EVERYMAN'S GUIDE TO BATTLE HERO SUCCESS

1: Get into a Military Unit.
Anything but American Eagle Division is fine. However before you join just any MU, find out from some of the members if their regiment captains are putting up orders early and changing them promptly throughout the day. If your MU is dropping the ball on orders, it will cost you big time.

2: Know your math.
You should be prepared to lay down somewhere close to 400,000 in influence in order to hope for a BH. Now before you drop your jaw, consider that a person who can do 415 damage with a Q5 weapon is capable of putting up over 400,000 in a single battle if he accomplishes his MU mission for 3 weeks and saves his bazookas and energy bars (and this does NOT account for any additional bazookas he has picked up during those 3 weeks). In short, it is entirely realistic for someone who has been playing for only a few weeks to hope to achieve a BH medal.

MATH OVERVIEW
Each day you accomplish your MU mission, you add 15,000 plus 7 times your damage/hit. If you do 1000/hit, your MU mission grants you 22,000 potential damage. You can easily BH every three weeks.

LONG VERSION OF MATH
The way to figure your math is as follows: First know your damage/hit. (It is not necessary to use Q5 weapons in pursuit of a BH medal, it is just easier). There are a variety of ways to know your damage/hit, but the easiest is just to observe it when you fight. (My best advice is to add eRepublik Advance).

Once you know your damage/hit, you can start plugging the numbers into the following formula:

(# Bazookas x 15000) + (((# Energy Bars x 7) + Hits/Mini) x damage/hit) = Total Damage

The sense behind this formula is as follows: each bazooka is worth 15K damage and eats 3 of the 10 hits from each energy bar. So each energy bar is worth 7 hits at whatever your normal damage/hit is. Then you add the damage from your regular number of hits (I will discuss maximizing this below).

An example: my daughter is currently capable of doing 357 influence per Q5 hit. If she makes her MU bonus every day for 3 weeks, she will be able to make 381,759 influence today (and more than that after 3 weeks of saving up due to strength/rank increases).

So her formula today wold be - (21*15000) + ((147+40) * 357) = 381,759

Ideally this equation should be somewhere near 400,000. Why? Merely through my observation that in the current climate 400,000 can get you a BH if you choose and act wisely. But of course a higher number is better. So given the right circumstance, a BH is possible even for her provided she is able to come up with 38 tanks and 250 Q5 food.

Of course if you can do this same 357 damage barehanded, you could shoot for a BH without investing in any tanks at all.

3: Know how to maximize your hits/mini.
I am able to hit 85 times in a single Mini Battle. (Yes, it is possible to hit as many as 99 in one mini, but those circumstances are impossible to repeat multiple times daily. This guide is for the Everyman.) How do I get 85? Like this:

I have a Q5 Town Center (500 health), a +100 health buiding, and a +50 health building. So I can store 650 health. I can store an additional 100 health in my green health bar meaning fully loaded I have 75 food fights. If I spend 10 of them within the first half hour of a Mini Battle, I will recover 10 more before the Mini has ended, meaning I can hit 85 times in a single mini. (So in the formula above, my hit/mini would be 85)

This dynamic becomes more important to BH strategy the higher your damage/hit gets.

But the basic strategy is of utmost importance for any BH hunter if you want to maximize your chances at a Medal. Why?

4: Don't commit to a Mini too soon.
Once you have stored your energy bars and bazookas, pick a day when you can babysit your computer for a while. If you are careful and are willing to spend a day doing this you will succeed.

Pick a mini that is in its first 20 minutes, and does not already have a BH who is out of your reach. Fight 10 times. Then come back in an hour. If after that time someone else has put up more damage than you can do, look for another mini in its first 20 minutes and start again. Your carefulness has cost you nothing.

5: Commit in part to a Mini Battle.
When you return after an hour, if the current BH has significantly less than the damage you are sitting on, you've got your chance. Unload the rest of your food fights (making sure there is enough time left in the battle to be able to fight the large number of times you are about to be fighting!).

Once you've unloaded all your food fights, look again to make sure you still have a chance, because you are about to commit your load. You might check to see if the current BH is online. If he is, and if his # of kills is a low number, you might want to back off... strong players often have enough damage in reserve to unload an extra 35K (or FAR more) easily if they are playing cat and mouse.

6: Go ALL IN! (almost)
Once you decide to go "all in", go to your inventory and assemble all your bazookas. (PROTIP: Do NOT assemble them too quickly. You must wait 3-5 seconds between each assembly or else eRep will stupidly perceive your actions as an attack thus locking you out of being able to login for 10 minutes. Then it's bye-bye mini).

Now you're loaded. Go wild. BUT. Keep your eye on the score. If someone else jumps in too, you may have to cut your losses and wait for another day. And if you do not need to blow your entire wad, don't. At this point it is a race you only have to win by 1. It pays to get yourself safely enough in front so that you can watch for any movement beneath you. But if you can score your Battle Hero Medal and retain some of your energy bars, do it.

(PROTIP: It makes no real difference at this point if you use a bazooka on a strong or weak enemy. You are merely accumulating damage by clicking, and your final tally has only to do with how many times you clicked the Fight button, not how many times it took you to kill a particular enemy. So don't waste precious time switching weapons. If you can save a bazooka for your last available click, do it, but it may be more trouble than its worth.)
