#85 Just a Random Article

Day 1,459, 08:55 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Gambit8

Hello there everyone 🙂

I’m just writing a quick article on what my take is on everything eRepublik.

The first thing would be to mention something about Albania which seems to be all the rave these days. So I shall.

There is a lot of rage around the whole Albania thing and even though I understand it’s a delicate subject for people in the Balkans especially I don’t think RL issues should have any effect on this game.
This is meant to be a new world in which we can start the world again but virtually, and yet we still turn to nationalism and violence, what does that tell you? It tells me that the world is no closer to solving racism than we were a millennium ago. We, as a race need to step back and realise that if we carry on the way we’re going then we’re going our own undoing because if we cannot stay calm and civilised on a game then how the hell are we going to progress in reality?

Also, I was thinking why does it matter what country you are from in real life? For example, I moved to eEstonia a few months back. So in real life I’m British, yet in the game, I was Estonian, or British-Estonian. If Estonia were to support a war against the UK then I personally wouldn’t mind, for two reasons. 1) I’m eEstonian, so I should do whatever is in the interest of Estonia. 2) It’s a gorram game.

This goes for the same as any other country. If your RL Serbian but eCroatian then I don’t think it should matter and people shouldn’t judge others on their real life nationality because you have citizenship in eCroatia, so as far as everyone else should be concerned, you’re Croatian. So my advice would be to treat everybody as if they do not have a real life nationality and I think everyone would get along a lot better, or better yet, switch sides. Get citizenship in the your enemies country and get a feel of the community.

In eUK we have many RL Canadians, Irish, Germans, Belgians, Dutch, French etc etc. yet we don’t judge them on their RL nationality because it does not matter, of course we make the occasional racist slur which is all laughs at the end of the day. Case point, probably being Elle Roslin, RL Canadian fighting against Canada in the eUK.
In other words, chill out.

Another thing I wanted to mention was the terrible economy these days in eRepublik.
If you find Plato’s bot, pumping currency into the New World then please kill it or at least report it to the eAuthorities.

I also had the idea of creating a currency, similar to the RL Euro in which multiple countries share a currency, I think it’d be interesting if something like that could come into the game.

Some people were quite excited about a new country being added (Albania) but most are disappointed now as it did not spice the game up at all.
But I was thinking, eSim creates a new country every week or so now. But eRepublik has a lot more money for sure so I’m not sure why eRepublik doesn’t add a new country every week or so as well. Perhaps a completely random country so there is no comotion. So one day it they may add some random African country, and perhaps after some really small island. It’ll get the eWorld filled up with new countries, perhaps attract more people and people in the eWorld will have hope that their country will indeed be added, and if it is not added straight away they won’t be disappointed as it was randomly selected and they’ll still know their country will be added eventually anyway.

War is now completely pointless as taking over a country will have next to zero effect on a country now and holding a country is a lot harder first by the whole local currency resistance war thing and now by the fact economy is unaffected so even if you hold a country for a long time it’ll have next to zero effect and they’ll continue to open resistance wars at any chance they get.
The only reason why war exists is so you can get a NE bonus to get better strength and in turn do more pointless damage. So there is an infinite loop of pointlessness. Do pointless damage to further your stats to be able to do more pointless damage in the future.
The only thing driving this game is the social aspect which is also being destroyed by lack of interest in the game, boredom and perhaps even the lack of forums, Plato?

What am I Doing These Days?

These days I’m contributing to pointless wars by doing pointless damage. I still have eUK citizenship but I’m living in Chimor, Argentina to help the Peruvians in their resistance wars. I’ve been here for about a week now and since then Chimor has not been liberated, but it has come rather close on more than one occasion.

Thanks for reading and hopefully you enjoyed and/or agreed with my rant 😛
