As the new party president I find myself in an interesting position. I tend to view politicians as the most insincere kind of salespeople alive. They tend to make promises that may or may not be possible and they make these promises as if they are set in stone. I refuse to run a campaign this way. Simply put, I will tell you straight up what I plan to do and I will stick to those plans if it is possible to do so. Additionally, I want my plans to be your plans. So if you disagree with my position on a topic, please speak up so that we can discuss every position before making a decision.

At this time, our knowledge of the presidential powers is very limited, so knowing exactly what can be done once one is elected to office is difficult to surmise. However, this is what I personally want to see happen and I would like to hear opinions from all members:

- Lower Income Taxes: As you all know, currently workers struggle to make a living wage. I would like to lower Income Tax to the lowest it can be without sacrificing the national infrastructure. I don't know what the infrastructure is at this point, but for example, if we need to maintain a transportaion system we will need to take this into account before cutting taxes. I want the people to keep as much money as possible while still having a solid defense and economy.

- Sales Taxes (VAT): Personally I think the ideal situation would be to eliminate Income Taxes altogether (if possible) and raise the VAT (or keep it the same) in order to pay for the national infrastructure. To me it makes more sense to get taxed once (at the market), but I may be missing something. Additionally, this would put some of the tax burden on Exporters selling in our country. Why not have them build us up? Suggestions are welcome.

- Import Taxes: Again, I would like to have foreign exporters pay to build us up. Of course if it turns out that we find ourselves short on products, we can lower this to encourage Exporters to enter our market. I have a feeling that this tax will be changed often depending on national as well as worldwide conditions.

- Laws: Currently I have no ideas for creating laws. I suppose it would depend on how they will be enforced. I think we'll have to wait until we see the options before discussing laws.

- War: It would be foolish to go to war so early in the game. Resources are low and unknown bugs could destroy our country. I'll freely admit that I look forward to expanding our country via invasion...but not yet. Let's build our walls before we tear down the walls of others.

- Citizen Fee: I don't understand this feature either. Another item to address when the interface becomes available.

Overall, I think we are surviving well. I will need to take a closer look at the economy and speak to many US citizens before suggesting a direction for congressional review. Assuming of course that I am elected. 🙂

Either way, let's have fun and rock this game!

Sincerely,
Korbin King
Democratic Party President
