^*^*Presidential Interview: Jewitt*^*^

Day 467, 21:39 Published in USA USA by changewillcome

Below is my interview of presidential candidate Jewitt.

Questions:
1. Since many voters determine their choice for president based on experience and character, can you describe your previous leadership experiences and how those experiences will influence your approach to leadership of the eUnited States.
2. The effectiveness of a president is often judged by the members of the cabinet. Describe your approach to the selection of members of your cabinet as president, and provide any details you can regarding current selections and their credentials for the post.
3. Recently the decision was made to attack Portugal in the Azores for the sake of benefiting the eUS economy and wellness of the population, share your expectations of the justification, benefit and frequency of military action during your presidency.
4. As the president, you will, by virtue of your office represent the eUnited States to our allies, our enemies and around the eRepublik globe. Describe your vision for the future of ATLANTIS, your concerns with PEACE and other alliances, and your general perspective on the eUSA’s role in the international community of eRepublik.
5. Over the last several months, competing tax plans have taken center stage in Congressional debate and the Media. Explain in as much detail as possible (given the 200 word constraint) your perspectives on Taxation and Monetary Policy.
6. If elected president, in rank order, describe the top three priorities or actions that the eUS voter may expect to see from “day one” of your term.
7. While the previous questions focused on the benefits of electing you as president, now describe the positive qualities that your opponents would bring to the office of president.
8. Finally, as a closing statement, please complete the following statement: The citizens of the eUSA should elect me to the office of president because.

Jewitt's Reponse

1. I like to think that anyone willing to vote for me or considering it has an idea of my character and leadership experience. I worked in forming consensus in Congress with both the CTPA and the Emergency Tax Policy, as well as working with the eUS Government, Executive and Legislature, on beginning positive ties with Israel from my Ambassador position for the eIsraeli People. My approach has always been hands-on, and listening to many opinions before acting so I know which would be best for the majority. If I mess up, I like to think I recognize that and try to fix my mistake.
2. Whenever there is a new President, everything changes. We cannot replace experience in a week, and because of this I would like to keep on as many of the current cabinet members as possible. They have proven quite competent during Sam's administration and I am sure they would not let me down.
3. I have said that I am for bringing war to the eUSA for economic and social reasons. War not only raises our moral and lets our egos bloat (which is not a terrible thing unless we get cocky) but it also ensures our economy's rise and fall. Over half of our industries rely upon solely, or for the most part, on war and what it brings. I, however, would like war to bring more long-term benefits instead of the attacks on Portugal just for wellness and economic stability; possibly as a conquest maneuver to gain a high diamond region or something we need.
4. Atlantis, as with PEACE, is making the game less fun because we have to megaliths which can not move the other. My foreign policy is to look outward for new trade partners and to ignore the Atlantis/PEACE divide in diplomatic ties. I do not think we should leave Atlantis, but we definitely need to get out of this security blanket.
5. I believe in a medium USD -> GOLD ratio to optimise exporting without harming our fragile iron and diamond import markets. I like to think that, alongside Mr. Scrabman, I was instrumental in making sure that income tax stayed flat for all industries for equality and I believe it should stay that way. As to tariffs, I believe that some "tweaking" could be done but that is Congress's job and the President is only 1/52 of a vote when it comes to monetary policy.
6. Definitely, a "hit the ground running" administration, as from day one I plan on getting involved quickly and having the majority of my cabinet already filled and ready to work. Next to that, I plan to keep the public informed of all actions and intricate details of the government's happenings that they may not be seeing outside of the media. Lastly, probably an increase in overall government activity.
7. Scrabman is an amazing candidate, and he is well taught in many aspects of the game. Uncle Sam definitely has the advantage of both incumbent and experienced politico and I have no complaints for the two. Desertfalcon, though I am often critical of him, he stands by what he says and he will, generally, see it through and for that he earns my respect and should have the voters' as well.
8. The citizens of the eUSA should elect me because, well, if they want to; I will not sit here to say why I should be elected or why I am better than the others, that is the decision of the voter and I hope that they make the right decision for the eCountry. If not...there's always April.

I attempted to get the other presidential candidates involved but did not get a response. If I do it will be added to my newspaper. I would like to thank Ananias for letting me use these questions he made.

Sincerely,
Changewillcome
