The WHPR is proud to present its next round of Fundraisers.
This time, the beneficiary will be Arm America.
Arm America is the discretionary Munitions Warehouse that is instrumental in turning the tide of critical battles by handing out Tanks and Food to any allied forces who will direct their damage appropriately.
Tonight, WHPR invites the eRep community to donate their money to Arm America by playing...
Naturally this is not g*mbling at all. Nor is it b*tting. Those things are against the ToS.
This is just going to be the means by which we thank some of you for your kind donation to the Arm America fund.
Our Fundraising expert Kara Beth has once again organized this affair. I am going to skip the "you can trust her" and refer you to this article where at the bottom I enumerate her trustworthiness.

The way this works is pretty simple. There are 100 squares available for sheet. Each square represents a score for the home and away teams. The last number of the scores from each team at the end of each quarter will determine the winners. If you own a square that has home at 0 and away at 7, then you would win that quarter if the score is 10 (home) to 27 (away). The grey area on the sheet represents where the numbers will be placed once the entire sheet is sold. These numbers will be placed at random for both teams. Then, the completed sheet will be assigned to one of the next available NFL games and labeled accordingly.
There is a gdoc spreadsheet where you may choose your squares. Just go there and put your citizen name in the square(s) you would like to own. You must FIRST post your picks in the comments here to prevent someone from taking your square by editing the sheet before you. If your donation does not reflect the number of squares you've chosen, then the sheet will be adjusted accordingly. Because the public is allowed to view and edit this sheet, there is a chance for sabotage. If this happens, then we will shut down the open access to the sheets and begin assigning squares randomly.
Instructions
1. Find available boxes by checking the spreadsheet. Then post your picks in the comments below by stating the letter/number of the square(s) you want. Make sure you mention what sheet you picked from. This will prevent your pick from being lost if someone is a jerk and deletes the sheet.
i.e. "I bought squares G7 and E3 from sheet 1 and square G5 from sheet 2"
2. Go to the spreadsheet and record your picks by putting your ingame name in the box(es) you chose.
3. Donate 200 USD for each box to Kara Beth.
4.. If a sheet sells out, move on to the next available sheet.

@Rick, so by the words on line #1, my contest I just started in my paper is g*ambling because I'm givin' away gold in a game of chance. The 'small amount' has nothing to do with it according to your own definition.
To pursue that logic, eRep itself is illegal as it is possible that by some glitchy code (not that that ever happens) or a sudden rule change by Admins (nor that) I could loose my fake gold.
And if you're old enough to remember ERX, which was supported by Admins (they fixed the API to make ERX work right), I suppose that was Admin sanctioned g*mbling also?
Everything in a 'game' involves a certain degree of 'chance'. Guess you need a better definition of the word g*mbling.

I think you missed my point in its entirety, pickle guy. I'm not trying to campaign against gambling in this game at all. If you check my paper, I've actually done my own lottery game. Was it gambling? Yup. Did i go around falsely promoting it as something it wasn't? Nope. If you guys are going to make games to raise money which involve gambling, do not say "oh, this isn't gambling at all..." This is, in essence, a blatant lie to your subscribers and readers, and I for one am disappoint.
USMilitary is #1 eUSA enemies ! We do not wanna obey to political caste who rule with eUSA years and wanna control EVERYTHING, simple as that. Seems that time come for me - writing articles.

From the description above the program benefits allied forces not new players. I think arm america was retooled a few months back under the idea that if our new players would not join an organized mil unit then there was little value in giving things to them.

Addressing the question about "gambling":
In real life, non-profit organizations routinely conduct "sales" and "lotteries". However, in order to maintain their "not-for-profit" status, they must receive "donations" in return for "gifts".
If you have ever listened to public television, an NPR fund drive, or been to a church bingo night, you will have heard the exact same language. It is a mandatory distinction by law.
Adopting that same language, we are accepting donations (we were until some moron hacked the sheet). In return for your kind donation, we are selecting at random four donors and sending them a free gift (keep in mind the score numbers are NOT added until after your boxes have been chosen. It is entirely random.) By adopting this language we are acting in accord with an accepted practice.
Posting a definition of the word "gambling" is obtuse, belligerent, and condescending. Rick, your response in these comments is a total disappointment and in my view an embarrassment.
The entire point of including the "this is not g*mbling" caveat was tongue in cheek humor given that this is no "not-profit" but a game which in some ways humorously mirrors real life. It is no more a "lie" than any point of irony is a lie. Jokes are inherently ironic, as I am sure dictionary.com can explain to you. It's ok for you not to "get the joke", but when you persist at such length that it has to be explained, you become that person in the room that everyone is rolling their eyes over thining, "why won't he just shut up."
Lastly, the beneficiary of this program - Arm America - is a most worthwhile program. AA distributes weapons and food REGARDLESS OF MU/POLITICAL/SOCIAL affiliation (the caveat is you must be American or an American ally).
If you are detracting from this program for political reasons, you are marginalizing yourself.

This was a really nice article regarding what could have been a fun
initiative, aimed at benefiting everyone interested in actively
promoting and protecting the eUSA eRep Team. The terms were well
within the ToS, as everyone knows, including the detractors.
Unfortunately the article was hijacked, as so many are, for personal
use to further an agenda of hateful division, although the players
involved would have you believe otherwise. Once again, like moths
drawn to the flame, JCS eUSMil have seen fit to flock to the scene, to post the same old argumentative rhetoric. Although they stubbornly insist that they are always under attack, this is yet once again, a perfect example of the exact opposite.
The fact that many JCS eUSMil, including some well-respected members of the eUSA community, continue to foster this type of behaviour in the public media, while ironically claiming the opposite, speaks volumes about the organization as a whole. Furthermore, if this is an example of what is said publicly, then it doesn't take much imagination to wonder about what is said privately. This is especially unfortunate, as I know that prolonging this hateful agenda isn't condoned by many within the organization however, it's understood that it wouldn't be in their best interests to air their moderate views.
The eUSA eRep Team is certainly large enough to harbour two distinctive factions, opposed to each other notwithstanding, it is feasible. These two factions can peacefully coexist. Every feature of the meta game in addition to this media module, are freely available to both of them for recruiting purposes, for the dissemination of information, for enjoyment, in the best interests of the Team. The choice to use it wisely or otherwise is their's.
Bringing us right back to square one, the best interests of the eUSA eRep Team, what this article was all about. Too bad it was hacked, in every sense of the word.
To Gnilraps, Kara Beth, Kria Erikson, and to all of the eUSA players who were able to look beyond their avatar, who genuinely wanted and continue to want to take part and contribute to the Team, I salute you all and wish you nothing but the best.

I have supported previous WHPR fundraisers, not only by soliciting considerable funds but also with my own contributions, plus some chart-topping publicity as well.
I look forward to seeing the JCS/USMilitary acknowledged in our central government's official publications.
But as long as this official central government publication goes the complete other direction, even engaging in actively pushing the anti-JCS agenda, then my support is withdrawn.
Arm America is a good program, and fundraising is a great way to relieve the tax burden to run it.
^ Yes and I know the players on both sides of the divide had a blast during that event where they both got to play, side by side! I know for most at least, it was so much appreciated and they were so grateful to you. The enthusiasm in their posts was palpable, so great to see, so seldom seen.
Hopefully those types of events will still be possible in the future.
^ That said, it was my understanding that WHPR policy states that only the names of those military units, which officially receive government funding, will be added to their publications.
From my pov, this makes perfect sense and is in no way a slight to the many other great MU's being developed by other eUSA players and organizations, including the JCS eUSMil.
When I read articles posted by any of these other MU's, I don't expect to see the USAF or any of their subgroups mentioned as, by the same token, they aren't under any obligation to do so.
As it is now, even good-natured trolling of each other's media isn't possible without it degenerating into a whole other ball game. All of which just adds to the ongoing destruction of the media module and the sense of community it used to represent.

My comments regarding politicizing this game OBVIOUSLY WERE NOT since I am clearly not a "motherfucking retard" and can read. Do you read? Did you not see that there were other comments that OBVIOUSLY DID attempt to politicize this. I should have made it more clear that my "Lastly" comment was aimed elsewhere but failing that I would have appreciated the benefit of the doubt which I clearly was not given.
